Honestly my 4gig (128 storage) iPad Pro 12.9 is close to a year old now. Within a year the next version will be out. At some point developers like IK multimedia will have to start orienting the app toward the larger memory iPads if IOS is to truly be on par with desktop.. I'd say they've done a great job!
That sounds great.
You have convinced me to fatten up the ST resource hog even more.
Thanks! I was just playing this afternoon during lunch break with Guitarism and ST2 and sending both audio and midi at the same time to Cubasis. It worked! It was super awesome cause I was able to add AU delay effects to acoustic guitars coming from ST2 and recorded the audio output of ST2 into Cubasis and in another track recorded the midi output of Guitarism simultaneously! How awesome is that!
Still wondering about the greeted out Guitar heaven preset though why its available on my iPhone and not on the ipad.
I am going to end up with iPads dedicated to a single app at this rate....
...which is not a bad fate for older iPads, once you have upgraded to something newer. I have an iPad 1 dedicated to iGrand Piano and hooked up permanently to a piano controller. It's quite refreshing not to ever need to fiddle with the thing.
How does the Cobham kit compare to the ones of DPP? Presently, I generate MIDI from Lyra, but always use DPP kits, because every other, DrumJam's included, sounds thin and too artificial in comparison. If the Cobham kit is on par with DPP, it's an insta-buy.
Oh, and SampleTank needs to be able to write MIDI to other sequencers ASAP. Other than that, I really love it, and use it extensively.
@MusicMan4Christ:
Hmm.. The Cobham and acoustic guitar packs show up on my iPhone but NOT on my iPad Pro for some reason.
Had half an hour of fun with the acoustic pack, especially playing single notes and creating a loop with the recorder, but it irks me more than considerably that I can't just copy/paste the audio, yes I can record it into something else, but otherwise iTunes, really? This seems such an obvious oversight that I'm left thinking I'm just missing something...(not for the first time etc).
IK, are you listening?
@IK_Multimedia
Any comments?
The whole Sampletank IAP system looks very confusing to me.
Have you registered any IK MM hardware on the phone version?
I looked in ST and didn't see a preset named Guitar Heaven. I did see Acoustic Heaven if that's what you meant and yes it was active (not greyed out) on both iPad and iPhone. No hardware registered here.
Thanks! Yes that's the one I meant. Acoustic heaven. I have not connected any IK hardware with iPhone. I wonder why it's not available on my iPad. even if I do restore purchases it doesn't show up.
I don't have room for it. Not happening for me...
If one regrets an iap. Is it refundable?
I believe not through Apple, but you may be able to gain help from the developer directly. Not really sure to be honest.
Thanks. I would just really want to try the acoustic American. But if it's just new sounds, I don't need it. It looks like I would be able to trigger different strumming styles via midi. Can anyone confirm?
I'm waiting for some advertising or reviews myself.
I still find it amazing that much of iOS IAPs are never advertised in any meaningful ways. You simply can't find examples of much iOS product. What other industry do you know that makes product and does not show what they are selling?
The only redeeming hopes we have are some of the great vids done by the likes of Doug of the SoundTestRoom and others.
Yeah, we need a demo asap
There is a video for the desktop version. But it doesn't show much.
I still have not purchased them but the sound demos in the in app store sound really nice. I specially like the nuances of the American Acoustic sounds. But again, your right, i wish there was a way to hear them yourself.. I think before there was a way to actually hear the preset play but not be able to record it or trigger it via midi. I think that is no longer possible. Will check though. My itunes stash is gone so i'm saving for the next special and get the whole boatload. I honestly thought i had previously purchased the All Sounds Pack but couldn't find my receipt, so i guess i'll have to wait for the special to come around again. This time, I'm going to save for them. For now, adding effects via Cubasis is super awesome! I haven't tried adding effects in Auria, but i suppose it is awesome as well.
as far as I know just like apps. I have returned a few disappointing sound packs in the past. (that was when EU citizens could return anything no questions asked, so Apple might refuse to refund IAPs just like they often refuse to refund apps)
I'm really impressed with how just about everything sounds now. I'm tempted by the new iAPs...
And since they seem to have removed the pop up ads, I just might reward such a positive step with a purchase... Though I'm waiting a few days to make sure it sticks.
Dumbly he asked: what is DPP?
Drum Perfect Pro maybe
Figured out the issue of the sounds not coming up on my iPad. Once I registered ST2 from my iPad, the Acoustic Heaven patch was now enabled. Pretty cool!
I know my friend bought the miroslav pack because he needed to trigger tubular bells from his Roland pad for a tour he was doing, and the ones in that pack didn't meet the need. He was able to get a refund.
As an aside, and this is not a comment on IK, I happen to think that miroslav sounds great, he wound up getting bs-16i and I think the tubular bells from the sonatina soundfont, which he said were perfect for the gig (Darlene Love, so think about the sounds on the Phil spector Christmas album, that's what was needed).
DPP=Drum Perfect Pro. Sorry, I'm lazy when typing from my cellphone.
So, I couldn't resist
Bought the American acoustic pack. It does sound great, BUT, kind af useless to me. Unless I'm missing something (please let that be the case)! There are some really nice strumming and picking patterns. But you can only choose to play major OR minor OR 7's etc. how can I come up with a song structure, when I have to scroll back and forth to choose between M or m? Doesn't make sense. Locking the keys to a specific scale does not help. Please tell me I'm missing a setting somewhere.
