You're mad. As a hatter. I like that in a man. Especially one who shouts and screams and then hangs onto the word T-w-i-r-l-l-l...... as archly as that. I'm going to do that most odd thing and add a critique by way of saying that the (guilty) thing I always liked about the Pistols was the odd bit of not-really-tuneful-but-still-a-hook-really they'd throw us. ("Noooooo future....nooooo future....." or "We're so pretty, oh so pretty....etc etc") and I was looking for that here. Almost fell into it a couple of times, but I got the feeling you were resisting the temptation...
Not my cup of cocoa, but I do like the idea of the dance-disco-beat with the metal-type samples/words. I do struggle with straight-faced metal, especially when it slips towards the Norse or Occult. Reminds me of a Python-type pastiche somehow, find it hard to take even vaguely seriously, but this was off the wall enough, especially musically, that it kept my interest.
Love the piano feel top and tailing this. Don't really love the electric guitar sound, but I can admire it for what it is, it's simply that this period of prog passed me by. However, I do like it when folks spread out beyond what you think is their area (whatever that might be). Overall the back track is very persuasive and I really liked the acoustic coming in when/where it did.
@theconnactic very good groove in this entry, and Ilove the drums and the sound of the snare in particular, what app did you use to create them?
The squealing guitar was cool too, and the track drives along and is interesting to listen to, the changes and dynamics keep it all going very nicely.
@Bluepunk it's a bit of an aural assault this one, a relentless stream of fuzz and anger. Probably worried about Arsenal...
The vocals are great, bursting with energy, but as Johnny says it would be good if there was a bit more hookiness to some of the lines, because the delivery does feel a bit monotonous after a while, it could do with a bit more thought put into how the vocals are sung, and a bit more variety.
If city win the league, will you sing your SOTMC entry in your pants?
@JohnnyGoodyear
Thank you kindly. Wish I could say I am holding the hook lines back. Will leave those musical aspects to you real musicians. Cue drummer jokes. I can't say words that end in L's and W's. Only noticed this since joining the Club and attempting to sing. Now I understand why all of the "where's my poxy pension" letters to the Sociaw have been returned. Have since crossed all doubw troubw words from lyric list. Words like Scowl would be too much hassw, no, hasslw, no, hasswlw.....sod this....would fuck me up!![;) ;)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/wink.png)
Thanks Richard and I agree. It's all a bit messy, over distorted. Did I just say that! Will leave the pants dance to @crony He has much better legs. I'm wounded though. I was hoping someone may have picked up that my expletives were a lot clearer this month. Have a new USB mic (my baby). Not for long... I need to upgrade already. It can't take the spite and it seems those USB connections aren't as secure as xlr. After swinging it at full cable length around my head, it flew off into next the door neighbours garden. He thought he'd discovered a new strain of black, pitted parsnip growing from his mud.![:) :)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
Hey congrats on the new mic! What did you get? I hadn't really noticed any parsnip-shaped designs on the market.
@theconnactic great song I enjoyed it from top to finish . Its different than what I'm used to hearing from you and I'd say more mellow . Good changes and bass sounds good too, good job
@bluepunk a bit dark in the mix maybe back up the reverb a little . Other than that I enjoyed the harmonies a little unexpected. The guitar sounds awesome maybe try pulling drums up a little and you got a winner,
@studs1966 mix is interesting with great energy I can't make out what your saying much but it fits in with the flow . Kinda creepy there
@supadom hey I really enjoyed this piece it's a really good song over all and your performance was on point, I'd like to hear the drums pumping a little more but that's just preference. Very talented and congrats
@NoiseHorse the piano is too high in there fighting with your vocals . There's a push pull fight for space here and I think you need to work out the mix a bit it's a good song but it can use some more production and polishing up
@orchardman you've really developed your sound and have learned to use it and mold it into this great flowing music easy and catchy , smooth and jazzy ! I like the piano in your track and lead guitar is screaming nicely snugged in with the humming bass line I'd say good mix
Thank you, @richardyot! It was DPP's dry kit!
Thanks Richard. Choices. Barca away or mic? I've realised now that I suffered a body leak after Spurs away and my blue blood must have been leaking during a 5 minute on line shopping splurge. Got a Rode USB mic, cradle with pop filter, heavy duty stand & one of those reflection things that you whack on the mic stand. Many thanks to @Jocphone & @LostBoy85 for their much needed advice......and for the "in the red" bank statement.![;) ;)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/wink.png)
Hasn't in one bit improved my singing but, does it make me feel good? Massive Yes. Love it. Now, what time is that flight again Wednesday!
Hope all sorted at your end.
Very nice. Does it have a spittle guard?
I wanted to order one but gave up trying to explain to Lurch on the phone. Its those damn words that end in "L" again. Spitlw....spitwll, spitlwlwl......... I'lw get there.
Sounds like the phone got a soaking though...
@studs1966 Such a dramatic, theatrical entrance. You only had to knock! After smashing through all doors with one fiery breath of anger, you left the gaff in a terrible state sir. Thankfully, your thumping rhythm section crunched into action and pumped my heart back into working order to enjoy the remainder. The cool horror film type vocals over the top are creative. Just sitting the right side of my ears in respect of not being over used......just. The flicky section that begins its weave at 3.20 is receptor nourishment.
A message to the geezer who in your song, is pleading to go to hell so much....good luck with the return journey mate.

Welcome and well done on dipping your toe in. Sounds a little like The Warriors meets Halloween or at least could head in that direction
Like the main riff line.
Hey, @RickH! All I can say is that @JohnnyGoodyear's impressions are accurate. Nice work!
Thanks guys and for the welcome! I was searching for a Beathawk forum and this is where Google lead me
And, in compliance with the original post, I'll listen to some of your tunes here in the next couple of days and comment as well. Thanks again!
Did this beat the other day:
Used dm2, poison 202, steppolyarp and oriental strings on ipad routed to ableton and added extra drums on ableton
@theconnactic loved the funk rock middle section, great playing as always. Not quite so sure about the high pitched, squeal noise you used for the intro and outro.
@bluepunk great stuff man, loved the groove you had going before the vocals came in a sort of rocked up Massive Attack. Than you threw everything at it but the kitchen sink with a bit of the pistols, Sham69 and I was even getting a hint of the Stranglers circa Black and White and with a classic chorus to boot.
@studs1966 Halloween has come early to the SOTMC. Nice groove, but it got a bit repetitive by the end. I thought the drums could have done with a bit more punch.
@supadom nice song, well performed with a great production. Good job.
This really IS robot music (to me). By that I mean that when I listen to certain kinds of new-fangled tunes I wonder (but will never know of course) what I would have made of them on first listen 30 years ago, BUT they're still mostly within my range of understanding. This piece makes me feel/think that the robots (very advanced robots at that, think Westworld and so forth) would 'get' this more than me. BUT (again) in the early-nineties the cool kids I knew in NYC used to go to a club that didn't open until 4 called 'Save The Robots'. They loved it and perhaps would have loved this then too.
