  • Seems to be only external mode :/

  • Great :) fingers crossed Egoist next...I know they are working on it but I think it's a tricky one....

  • WOW would be cool too

    what is external mode?
it seems to be doing finde once connected to other apps, both setting and receiving tempo changes

  • Turnado. Mind you effectrix is the only sugar bytes effect with a sequencer.

If I open Effectrix as a stand alone app with Link enabled it plays fine.
If I then open iSpark, the sound from Effectrix disappears and shows it's switched to External mode.

    Yes, Turnado! Egoist next.

  • I just took it for a ride and I'm completely confused. I have loopy, elastic and effectrix. Elastic running through effectrix to check sync. I have effectrix slaved to loopy via midi sync but when I unplugged loopy from AB effectrix stopped rather than latching onto elastic drums. Mmmm, so how is it different from before Link?

  • Egoist. Extra pretty please.

  • Just tried it without loopy and it latched only elastic drums but only after I selected midi out on the former. Works well but again I can't see much difference from before. It's not like effectrix's transport is active and when pressed start it waits for the 1 before engaging.

ah, I see what you mean. yes it seems the internal player is muted when Link is on.
otherwise, it seems to working well.

  • Really happy with that update! Can't wait for the full link suite!

  • Nice update :)...now responding to on/off from AUM tool bar...And the AUM keyboard can change scenes in Effectrix (from C3 up.)

  • Great Tip!

  • Dreams come true, thx sugarbytes

    Nice !!

  • I don't own it. I was thinking about getting it after reading this post..... BUT ITS $18!!! Good lord! Are they're any other fx apps in this price range that are equally as good, if not better?

It is its own thing and totaly worth it for me. The vst is somewhere in the 100$ range, worth it too

  • None better. I have the VST, too.

Sequential for iPad by Sinevibes was the closest thing, but hasn't been updated in two years. Seems like the app was just a test balloon to see if there was a big enough market for their other products.

Kuvert by Klevgrand looks fun, but not as full featured and no Link yet.

If you can wait, they tend to have a sale around the holidays.

Very true, sometimes I think I'm getting spoiled with all these low priced powerful apps on iOS. I forget how much the actual vst would cost! I've been watching it for awhile. A few months back I spent $20 on flux fx (I don't use it that much for some reason). So I was hesitant to dish out that amount again for another fx app. But since it link compatible .. I might have to buy it. Thanks :)

Yes, Link isn't working at all in audiobus. I tried it with Elastic Drums and Patterning and it won't start, it doesn't match tempo, it doesn't connect to the Link in other apps. But other than that it looks good sitting there...

I think they didn't do anything for the Audiobus implementation, it is still setup for requiring MIDI clock, and requires a MIDI start/stop message to make it go.

Who is "they"? Klevgrand or SugarBytes?

  • Sugar Bytes. Their apps mostly all go on sale for a few short days around xmas, vsts included. Klevgrand have not had a sale, as yet, on iOS apps. Get theirs at the intro price, or the bundles after.

Or get them all now. They're all worth it.

ITS NOT IF YOU USED A LINK ENABLED APP TO DRIVE IT! LOL

    Which app would that be?

All of the above: loopy, elastic drums and effectrix have link.

  • Got Triq Traq in the input slot (lol) of Audiobus, and Effectrix in the effects slot, and they are "linked", (changing the tempo of one app, affects the tempo of the other).

However, Effectrix is not "running", the effects are not applied on Triq Traq output.

    I must be missing something...

I've barely had time to mess around but from what I found is that you have to make sure clock send is on the master.

Effectrix wasn't doing anything until I turned on the midi clock out in ElasticDrums

Thanks !! Ok so the Link implementation in Effectrix doesn't include clock sync or something like that, you must Sync via midi. So it appears @supadom was right and the question remains, "how is it different from before link?".

    Tempo control maybe ..?

Oddness pervades! It worked great for me in AUM before the update... AUM provided the link and did a decent enough job with the IAA sync to Effectrix... hope it still works in AUM for me now.

  • This issue is a link-non sense. Link explicitly built to dodge master/slave kind of stuff and as a rule of thumb you shouldn't send midi clock and transport to a link-ed app; most of the times, at a certain point it will reveal conflicts between the two methods which are radically different. Effectrix is one of those: sugarbytes kept the midi start/stop depending from the host when Effectrix is hosted by any mean. And sugarbytes stuff I own has always been kind-of tricky to get it work straight outta the box
