I know ive just looked at online photos of the Alesis and CCK and realised. Doh !

    :D

    Working perfectly with iOS 10.

@jesse_ohio The Alesis beats the Behringer for me not only because it is a more rugged build, but also because it has input and headphone level controls on it, much easier than trying to set them using an on screen slider.

The realtone cables that come with Rocksmith on pS3 also work, but with those there is no headphone out, (so useless if used on iPhone 7) and no level controls.

  • Now, now chaps (i'm based in the UK !).

Lets not all 'fall out' about this 'and throw our toys out of the pram' as they say over here.

I DONT have a large budget, soundstage is not really unimportant, as whichever device i eventually select will be used for guitar practice only.

I do have a basic Irig and to be honest its a bit 'naff'.....

  • Is there any guitar amp / effect software available for Windows 10 ?

I am aware that Amplitude 3 is available. But expensive for what i need it for.

There are loads of free plugins you can use, but you need a host for them(dunno if there is anything else than daws that can do this for windows). If you dont have a daw, you can use reaper for free(just download the demo thing and you can keep using it as long as you want, its the full version).

If you use plugins instead of a program like amplitube or bias, you need to use multiple plugins(in programs like amplitube these parts are put together). Basically what you need is a preamp, poweramp(usually these are made in one plugin), speaker simulation(impulse responses) and ofc effects if you want some.

If you have an amp with fx loop, you can use its preamp section by plugging the guitar to your amp and fx loop out to computer(if you have a tube amp without load box built in, google how to do this so that you wont fuck up your amp). This gives A LOT better distortion sounds than trying to get distortion from simulations, and no sound comes from your amps speaker. You can also use real pedals instead of amps distortion to get better distortions, and ofc other effects. If you have pedals, i highly suggest using them. If you have a real amp you use for preamp section, get TPA-1 by ignite amps(their website is down for some reason, but i managed to find it by googling anyways just few days ago) for power amp modeling.

You can find tons of amp sims on internet, these are quite well liked http://lepouplugins.blogspot.fi/

You also need an impulse response host for hosting impulse responses for speaker simulation. There is a great one on that lepouplugins link i posted called lecab2. Thats just a host, google "free impulse responses" to get tons of different speaker simulations.

    Here aresome free stuff http://mercuriall.com/cms/details_freestuff

Heres a really nice free equalizer http://www.tokyodawn.net/tdr-nova/

Heres another great free amp http://www.shatteredglassaudio.com/product.php?id=104 , i especially like it when combined with real overdrive pedal or preamp. Its great for cleans as well(which is what you want if using preamp or pedal distortion).

I suggest trying out all the free plugins(and impulse responses) you find and dont get discouraged if you cant get good tones right out of the box, they will require more getting used to than something than ready packaged programs like bias or amplitube with their presets. They can get you really good results when you figure how to tweak them, especially if you have real amp and use its preamp section, you can get equally good(if not better) tones from using some of the free plugins than commercial products.

  • Griffin studioconnect plus an official 30 pin to lightning adapter. My studioconnect was less than $20 on amazon last month, adapter was $8 on eBay (but you must confirm its a real apple one or it will not pass the audio from the 30 pin connector, it will only charge).

Or, just use your irig for practice, and use the free versions of each guitar app to see what you like. Keep in mind that positive grid apps seem to be on sale every other week. I've been loving tonestack the most now and use it on my live shows all the time (I'm a bassist).

Another option is look for a line 6 sonic port, which then unlocks the whole mobile pod app for free. I got mine for $30 on eBay and it is what i use live. I don't like the pod app but there's no bass stuff in it so I didn't explore in great detail. But I'm sure it's perfectly fine for practice.

    Hope that was a help.

This is "just a player," but it's a pretty nice freebie.

Hmm, just found this guy in the related-items section on Amazon's Behringer page: looks like a straight-from-China version of the Guitar Link for only $12.99. Free Prime shipping and no-question returns... seems like a no-brainer to try it.

I bought one of these knockoffs on the bay.
It was unusable on iPad ..just noisy and crappy ..got a refund..don't waste your time..

Likewise a few years ago, I wound up throwing it out.
