What an awesome idea. Thanks!! I've been using Gadget since it came out and this workaround never occurred to me lol
It will more than likely be using less voices because the MIDI is muted, when you mute the audio only it is likely it will still be using the voices for that channel.
I'm finding less and less use for Ableton now that I'm a year in. I don't care for the tiny plugin windows, frequent crashes, and lack of Undo (especially when you have any automation running). Feels like it's suffering from bloat. I'm running all my VST/Au plugins through JuX now - where I can have many running at once with no latency issues (and JuX is a 600kb download, and free), whereas w/ Ableton just running a few starts slowing everything down/cracks. Lack of SysEx, multiple audio channels in/out, 128 parameter limit for Controllers.... and seems everything is about Push too. Course, I'm not a composition type - so your workflow may vary.

I agree that it does favour a powerful system especially now with Max 7...Just curious by what you mean in lack of multiple audio channels in/out as it'll allow whatever your soundcard allows.
You got me all excited about JuX, but it's macOS only. http://ju-x.com
Ha! I'm actually in a back/forth with Juno the dev now - I'll ask him![:) :)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
I mean, only stereo channels... no 5.1, 7.1, 3D... same w/ M4L devices, no multichannel recognition there, or w/ something like Kontakt with up to 32 mono/stereo channels - really a pain to set up, then if you want to switch to different config next time, tough. Single channel should be able to output stereo and/or mono etc. And yes, powerful system indeed... recommended by Ableton is a 4 hard drive set up. But, don't get me wrong - I bought into Suite as my DaW - learning it has been worth the investment - but the value of iOS apps fills in many gaps for me, whereas desktop plugins are overpriced in comparison. iOS workarounds and flaws seem to facilitate creativity w/ me (I like thinking of iOS as the New Analog) - desktop ones annoy me, as they've had 15+ years to stabilize.
Ok right I see what you mean. Yeah it's not perfect but i'm glad I dived into suite this year and linking up with my ipads makes a powerful setup. I love M4L but I see your point about the fixed screen size, hope they expand on this in the future since Max itself doesn't have that restriction.
Yep, I'm not down on it at all - I'm just not a fan of the "creative constraint" paradigm - seems more a warm blanket for software flaws... I'm more a "everything in moderation, including moderation" type, cheers![:) :)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
AWSOME!
Thanks man. Very kind. (Point me at anything you've got up).
Just get Gadget...it's the most complete toolset which integrates nicely with Ableton. Have a look at the latest post by Jakob Haq...he does a nice little dnb demo which is wonderful:

Modstep is also great. I've been using Live for about 6 months, and feel most comfortable with ModStep and Korg Gadget...the instruments in Gadget are great as well...
