If I understand correctly what you're talking about, that means GB has the most advanced tempo mapping on iOS, even taking Auria Pro into account, akin to Logic Pro X's beat/tempo detection. Heck, even better, because it requires no user interection and just works.
Yet is hidden from GB users, and the only way to enjoy it is to use that Music Memos thing. Hard to understand what's up with Apple.
Look forward to hearing that. I believe I have Spire somewhere in the unused/unknown pile. Will look it out. As for the 12 string, last guitar I had in London was the same. I LOVED that thing, but had to have a friend over to tune it
The moving truck with a few guitars is on the way across from Maine and I'm looking forward to being reunited with my humble Taylor....time to think about abusing my fingers again I reckon....
I think you can actually use it without Music Memos. You need to add a drummer track to a project where there is an existing audio recording and then toggle the "follow" switch. GB will analyse the recorded audio and the drummer will follow its tempo and rhythm.
I don't think you can create an automatic bass line without the Music Memo app though. They're pretty basic though, but it's still impressive when the app creates an arrangement from your noodling.
You have a Taylor? Did you not know that it's an actual criminal offence to own a guitar of that quality and not play it?
The Missus bought it for me a couple of years back on the careful testing/advice of her brother-in-law (pro-guitarist-muso etc). Haven't really gotten back into it, has been in the hard case largely. Been distracted by this new iOS craze all the kids are talking about BUT now it's going to be by my side here in Austin and as there a few guys around here who seem to know their way around these machines I'm thinking about starting over from square one. Maybe take a SOTMC approach and try and set a goal for every month etc. Unless that's a completely stupid idea
I do have a very good friend, local country/honky tonk telecaster freak, who I know would gladly give me an hour of his time every week, I just need to figure out a sensible way to exploit his skills
Great to know: perhaps I've been a little unfair to GB, because I didn't care for Music Memos: it seems a pretty impressive songwriting combo to use both!
@JohnnyGoodyear just sit down and play it for 30-40 minutes every day. The magic will happen, as long as you do it every day.
Thanks Mister, I will add it to my pomodoro list....
What? You're not quitting music altogether and retiring as a hermit?
Love that line, but aren't ALL hermits retiring?
Actually (and I know, who cares
) I have just bought Scrivener (at the sideways nudge of @Nkersov) and having finally found a more than decent writing app for the iPad have promised myself to write lyrics only for a month or two, but fiddling with music apps is so much more immediately satisfying....
JohnnyGoodyear lyrics and music are always both worthwhile. Carry on then! A certain poor Austrian sod may continue to suffer in anonymity but the rest of us will happily await your next SOTM.
A lot if not most of the things that people find lacking in GarageBand, you could say the same about a Novation Circuit.

Glad to be of help. If it's any use, the Mac version is even better and the PC version a close second. All three will sync via Dropbox.
'Crazy Dubstep Style' would be awesome

Auria now does iSymphonic AU so bye bye GarageBand
I'm interested to see if it matches up. iSym has been running very well for me as a series of AUs in GB. Really hope so.
Yeah I've not given it a big symphonic test. Mainly been using them as background sounds to synth apps.
Precisely why I don't like to become dependent on built in Synths in DAWs. AU gives us options.
Would love to see Micrologue as an AU
I've actually been 'playing around' with Garageband this evening and can't help to wish that it would get 'improved' in more than one way.
It already has (without proper UI though) some of the synths available in Logic Pro X(Retro Synth, ESX24 and Ultra Beat) and if those 'synth-engines' would get proper touch-based UIs we'd be in for quite a treat
I like the way you're thinking. Are there any apps you're using via AU, IAA, etc. that you find play well with GB's synths?
No, since there is no way to automate the AUv3 with GB it sadly feels like a toy in that regard.
Knowing that the 'engines'(RetroSynth, ESX24 and UltraBeat) are far more capable that what is exposed in the GB ui makes me frustrated to say the least...
The lack of any kind of controller recording/editing is another 'issue'.
I do like the 'grid' with auto-snap in GB that increases in resolution when zoomed in allowing precise editong and placement of notes.
Thanks, I can't say I'm surprised at your findings. Here's hoping for progress.
