  • thanks connactic, is this only available in auria pro or would the entry level auria have these features as well?

  • oops forgot to ask which has the better browser for organizing and quick access to samples?

  • Out of curiosity, @kobamoto: if you look for MPC style sample workflow, why don't you follow @ElGregoLoco recommendation and use BeatMaker 2?

Answering your question: Auria's browser is better because you can have folders, subfolders etc. And yes, those features are Auria Pro only.

Remember: Auria Pro has extremely advanced audio editing time stretching and pitch shifting tools, but it's more like ProTools, not MPC. Think about it before making any purchases, otherwise you'll regret it. Also, after editing the samples in Auria Pro, you'll need to export them to a sample player that you can assign the samples to, such as iMPC.

Posted a duplicate by mistake. @sebastian could really enable a post deletion tool in the forum. :(

I've had beat maker for quite a while, it's a bit convoluted, and for mpc style workflow I need a pattern based sequencer. As far as my interest in auria it's not a pattern based sequencer I need but a page where I can just move audio clips around with ease and fluidity, realtime time stretch, flexible grid, and good sample organization.
can auria pro import from your iTunes music library?

  • Ah, okay! For this, Auria would serve you better than any iOS app. About the iTunes music library importing, I think you'll need AudioShare for this: import from the iTunes library to AudioShare, then open in Auria.

  • I see, ok thanks... l love audioshare but unfortunately the devs seem to love it too, they always leave the tiny but important bits to audioshare :(

About Auria's time stretch, one more reminder, @kobamoto: like I said, it works like ProTools' or Logic's, not like Ableton's: It will tempo-match your clips upon import, if they are include tempo information (such as an Acid or Apple loop). If it doesn't have, or if you want to play with the tempo of the song further after you imported the clips, you have to stretch them manually, using two fingers at the same time, to achieve the desired length.

Audio Warp works exactly like ProTools: it auto-detect transients, and then you can move them around to correct bad timing or achieve different musical results or grooves, or even slice the clip at the transient markers if that's the intention.

In fact, Auria Pro's GUI resembles Logic Pro X' a lot, but it behaves more like Pro Tools in my opinion, and that resemblance gets stronger after each update.

That's why I chop my samples in BM2 and then use them in Gadget with Bilbao... Pattern based and wonderfull drum and bass gadgets to complete the track ;-)
    Peace

  • I was so super pumped for this, now I'm not sure I'm going to jump on it right away or even at all. I've lived without it so long I've started to believe I can continue this way.

  • thanks again theconnactic

I have a feeling that BM3 is going to be quite deep cause intua spoke of streamlining but also mentioned adding modules, really looking forward to seeing how this turns out, no doubt it'll be unique

As long as it has clarinet and accordion samples with many more layers and larger file size I'm all over it. ;)

  • @ElGregoLoco
I too use BeatMaker 2 for working up clips and then triggering them during live performances (in my case audio-style snippets of movie dialogue in a reggae/dub context).
I've tried putting them into Bilbao and Gadget - love the work flow, and ability to add delay, etc.

BUT - can't figure out how to have Bilbao only trigger the sample while holding down the pad - seems that the only option is one shot all the way through.

Am I wrong about that, am I missing a trick?
    Thx

I just looked at it and you are correct from everything I can see. I wish nanostudio and korg would get together. Nanostudio's sequencer and pad sampler plus gadgets synths would be awesome. And then if they joined auria...

  • @mrufino1 Nanostudio's pad sampler is missing a latch though. So it will do the 'only while the key is down' thing, with a handy release envelope, but it doesn't have a way to just keep looping until you toggle it off again like lots of other pad samplers.

    Great Auria breakdowns @theconnactic.

  • Forgot, there is a nanostudio hack for it though. Make a sequence with all of the pads looping and then set the TRG to mute mode. Now tapping the pads will toggle the loops on and off. Doesn't work for all situations and you loose the attack and release envelopes but can work well.

  • Thx guys, I'll check out Nanostudio - maybe Gadget will add the "Play only while Pad is active" thing at some point

Really? Is been awhile since I used it, but I thought it did loop a pad. I don't even have it loaded at this point, Once I got gadget nanostudio lost its spot. But I do love the workflow.

  • Sorry to jump conversation but nanostudio is so old, and yet still fantastic. Plus 1
Roll on nanostudio 2 . Oh yeah beat maker 2 still gets some love from me !

I personally leave an empty pad or play an existing pad at zero volume and use pad groups... this permit to do start-stop on any pad... which lead to the same result as hold in BM2 or NanoS... hope this help guys '

who's got the better time stretching auria or cubasis, and who's got the more flexible timeline grid, tuplets and such?, and which one allows easier/quicker moving around of audio on the timeline when making sample collages?

SONY ACID 15 YEARS AGO........................... :o

  • oh did Sony port Acid to iOS? ;)

  • I remember battling it out between Acid, Radial, and Ableton Live, still have the scars

  • I made many tracks with Sonys Acid - then got a cracked version of Ableton and never looked back. ... (And then got an iPad and some apps and never use Ableton)

Have you ever heard of the TX16Wx Software Sampler?
    http://www.tx16wx.com

I know you want something like this for iOS, but I'm curious if it can hold up to your standards.
