  • looks to have potential! Can't wait to check it out

  • @mgmg4871 - you are the app finding king!

  • edited July 2013

Lol. I just hit the real app king sources daily. I really like this one.

  • Looks like a good marketing strategy. Put out a good app for free, and speaking for myself, I will gladly pay for usable IAP's.

  • It's a bit like different drummer....

    But with rhythm....

    And timing

  • Lol @ Flo26

Really nice app, I likey! Check out Caelestis, another really cool little sequencer/sound gen. from the same dev (that also got Audiobus support).

  • ....and sadly, with no sense of humour

Gotta love it when someone who has posted no decent music AT ALL questions someone else's mastery...

I've heard what you do Florent. Not been impressed so far, mainly due to the unvarying and formless nature of the rhythm parts. Ironically, I suspect DD would be better utilised as a generator of contrapuntal instrumental textures with some other drum app handling a more composed approach to the drum parts.

  • I ain't made anything worth posting.

  • Nice little app, but crashes quite a bit when using imported samples.

  • My fault Morris.

    Sorry guys.

Commonstookie—Different Drummer 2 has no significant problems in its timing, especially for a real-time app where it's not all prepackaged ahead of time like what most are used to. Version 1 did have some issues, no doubt, but that was resolved so I'm not sure what you are referring to.

I say let's stay on topic and can't we agree to be courteous to our fellow musicians? Flo26 is golden in my book!

  • Has anyone checked out the chord control on the right side of circle? I think it was a brilliant idea to control parameters from outer ring.

  • This thread has dropped beneath the usually high standard of this forum. :(

My remark wasn't intended to cause offence @technemedia.
    I'm sorry.
And to other forum members.sorry for causing this.

    Can we chillax now.

If people are going to completely revise their posts...

  • Please do share, PaulB, as we the listeners will be the judge of that—not you. For all we know, you run Justin Beiber remixes into AutoTune and think it sounds great. If your music sounds awesome and original, I'll agree that Different Drummer should not be used on your music.

    Mary had a little lamb...
    Etc.

  • Prertty cool app, I like the interface.

Anyone purchased the virtual MIDI add-on? I'm curious whether the random pitch selection sends out note values or pitchbend.

  • Very cool app. Some nice rhythmic variations.

  • Anyone else experiencing the same problem as smeeeth? I am eager to make the IAP, but will hold for for a fix if it induces crashes. Still really digging it!

  • @Busker What random pitch selection? All I can see is a velocity randomiser.

@mgmg4871 What chord control? All I can see is an octave selector.

Am I being blind, guys? When I hit the question mark to see the description for each control, neither of the ones you mention are present.

  • For pitch, hit the "sharp" along the bottom. You can multiselect which notes will play randomly for each color.

  • Hi guys,

I'm James, the developer of Poly. Glad to see you're all liking it so much!

I'm trying to follow up on the comments made by smeeeth about Imported audio crashing the app. I can't personally replicate the crash and I've tried using MP3, WAV, M4A, and CAF files with multiple bit rates and both stereo and mono. Also tried files of varying lengths.

Has anyone bought the Import IAP yet and experienced any crashes? I'd really appreciate some info on it if anyone has.

    Cheers

@Michael I might be calling this by the wrong name., but on the right hand side it is the icon with 3 marks. At the bottom left you must click on x and choose the sharp sign. You will see notes. Choose which notes you want. I did it yesterday and was getting some notes playing simultaneously which is why I dubbed it chord control, but this may be the pitch randomizer. Sorry for the confusion.

  • Great app but twiddly ...I hope the help improves with nice arrows pointing to the controls and explaining what each does !:-)
Also , the sliders and the controls can be made bigger I guess else I can't see what I am dragging or tapping.
Overall pretty good and hoping for some features like being able to copy the Nodes to make duplicates, more complex time structures and just a panel for the node selection instead of the small slider at the bottom.
I ran this thru AUXSpace and samavada and it was Awesome !!!!

    James,thank you.
    Love the app.
    +1 for bigger icons tho.

    Sorry for about yesterday..

  • Hi James, nice work. Here's all I can tell you, I tried importing 3 different .wav files via Audiopaste. Each crashed the program after a few seconds of adding them to the pattern. I'm on iPad4, latest iOs version. I'll try it again later today and see if I can find out anything else.
