    Hi smeeeth,

Thats interesting that you had it happen 3 times in a row. Looks like there's most definitely something wrong. Have you been able to use any imported samples at all? Or does the crash only happen sometimes? If you have the time could you send me the crash logs when you get a chance. Heres a good link to tell you how to do it.

    http://osxdaily.com/2012/08/07/get-crash-reports-logs-from-iphone-ipad/

Really appreciate any help. Also, when I've found the bug thats causing the crashes I'll release an update with a more descriptive help page and bigger icons!

    Cheers guys

  • @smeeth which app are you pasting from? There have definitely been apps over time that put stuff in the wave header that make receiving apps grumpy. I'm looking at you, beatmaker.

  • I just tried Sunrizer, same results. Then i deleted the app and re-installed, pasted again and same thing, crash within seconds. So I don't know how else to test at this point.

  • Sample rate? Bit depth?

  • I've just been copying and pasting between Sunrizer and Poly without any issue. Some other people who bought the upgrade have reported that its all fine, so I'm really stumped by this one.

If it's not too much trouble I'd love to get the crash logs from your device. Then I'll know exactly whats causing the problem. They are real easy to get, I left a good link in a post above. My email is [email protected]

    Sorry for the inconvenience

  • @smeeeth & @JSMilton - could I be a matter of length of recording?

  • @JMSexton
I've been trying it with samples from any length between 1ms to 5 minutes. I'm pretty sure it's not that. It wouldn't be so bad if I could replicate the crash! I'm an iPad 3 though and smeeeth is on a 4. I wonder if that has something to do with it?

  • @JSMilton - I sent you the crash logs, hope it helps.

  • I made the copy/paste IAP and tried importing stuff from Musyc, Samplewiz, and DM1. No problems with any of them. The Samplewiz sample was less than a second long, and the Musyc sample was over 30 seconds long. Poly handled them fine. I'm using an iPad 2 running iOS 6.1.3.

Fantastic app, btw @JSMilton - you can get some really cool results with it.

  • I also didn't have any issues importing multiple samples on iPad 2

  • Thanks to this Forum, I always find these new, very interesting Apps rightaway (my addiction counselor sees this differently, of course). Very nice App, I also had no difficulties audiopasting, iPad 2 and 4 here.
    Cheers. A

  • I have like 120 music apps... When I buy a new app, I always think "ok, I bought one more app, so this one has to inspire me and turn itself into a new song". Then I would think it was money well spent. It happens even with free apps I get.
Well, one hour with Poly running through Turnado and we have a brand new song here going for the next album :) This situation has happened only with 20 of my apps or so...
    Very nice app!!

@JSMilton I'm loving this app, I'm getting some very interesting patterns out of it! Would it be possible, in a future update, to mix and match between internal sounds and Virtual MIDI? At the moment it's either all of one or all of the other.

  • Really enjoying this app. Bought the IAPs. They were definitely worth it for the added functionality. I appreciated being able to try the stripped down version for free initially. A good marketing strategy in my opinion. Anyways, using it right now in AB with Loopy synced as the master clock. It's all working quite well. Excited to keep exploring the potential here. Many thanks to the developer. Cheers!

  • @FRibeiro what a nice compliment. Hope you copy and paste that into an App Store review.

  • I'm also very happy with this kind of marketing strategy, thus immediately bought the AudioIAP (don't need midi for now-). Very nice App, gave it a great review, cause I'm always thankful finding good concepts (it's a little like the reactable, but different...) you know...
    Cheers, aa

  • Nice call @FRibeiro

    Poly and Turnado...very nice combo.

  • Hey guys,
Thanks for all the compliments, especially @FRibeiro! Really pleased everyones liking it so much.

@Michael_R_Grant the reason I always have either one or the other is that I find if I have both MIDI and audio going on at the same time the iPad freaks out! To be fair, I always test with maximum use situations, with as much going on as possible. I can definitely add an option in to mix them though, as a couple of people have asked for it. I'm gonna do a big update soon with some general fixes and additions, so I'll add it in then.

I'm still trying to track down the bug thats causing @smeeeth to have crashes with imported samples, but it really does seem to be only him having them, which is beyond confusing to me!! Gonna get that sorted though before I do any update. If anybody else ever has a crash from imported audio please let me know, as I need all the info I can get on it.

Anyway thanks again guys and I'll keep you posted on any future updates

  • I've just posted a review. ***** ;)

  • Question on the MIDI : is the virtual MIDI channel separate for each node? Can those 5colored nodes control different app/instrument ?
Is there a reason why it's limited to only 5 node types and that too just 8 total playing at the same time?

  • @thepinkelefant - it allows 12 nodes to be played simultaneously. In regards to Midi, you select the channel for each node and length of note played as well.

    image

  • Are there any drum apps that I can use the Virtual MIDI with? I tried to get a sound from iElectribe as one of the nodes and failed miserably! Synths obviously work fine. :)

  • Beat Machine should work because you can assign each pad to a Midi number. I'll try for ya...

  • Spoke to soon, it does one channel but each pad has different note value. Only thing I can think of is I know iPolysix (yes a synth) sends its drum parts on diff channels...

  • edited August 2013

I was going to use audio copy/paste for pad sounds but then remembered that I can't use the virtual MIDI at the same time! :)

So until I can mix and match audio and MIDI (thanks for the update news, @JSMilton!), I suppose there are 2 workarounds:

    1. Record audio tracks separately in a DAW such as Cubasis. One using the internal audio, another with Virtual MIDI. Improvise on each separately, maybe do a couple of passes.

    2. For Virtual MIDI, use a synth that has drum sound presets, and combine that with an instrument preset from another synth app.

But if there is a way to assign iElectribe/DM1 pads (or those on another app) to nodes using Virtual MIDI that someone can find, then that would be doubly awesome!

  • @JMSexton thanks, so Virtual Midi is limited to one app/instrument at a time. Would love for channel-per-node support !!
It would be almost like Gestrument!
I love the rhythms and timings in Poly and being able to play multiple midi instruments at the same time as the inbuilt Audio would be awesome

  • edited August 2013

@thepinkelefant - no it can do a diff channel per node (see arrows on each side in the pic) I just didn't change the assignments in the picture because I thought the arrows were visible enough sorry bout that. I can't do multiple channels on one node. You CAN play multiple midi instruments at the same time. Each node can be assigned a channel from 1-16

  • Yep, by assigning each synth to a different channel, the only restriction is how many apps your iPad can handle at once. I was pretty pleased to get Thor and Nave and Poly working at the same time yesterday on my iPad 3, only getting clipping issues when I picked CPU-intensive patches.

  • Cool , thanks guys . Buying the IAP now !!
