  • Looks like a sale, too.

Do you use this app a lot, Flo?

  • No,not at all.
I think i've had it for free, but i'm not really a looper- sequencer guy.
    Sorry man!
    Cheers!!

I didn't think you were, which is what made me curious. Thanks for the heads up!

  • Yup -- and Infinite Looper too.

    New stuff includes...
Recording of pitch bend and CC messages (toggle this on -- recording of CC is off by default)
Pads can be configured to send CC or PC messages (similar to Sidecar)
The piano roll editor has a CC edit mode, so you can graphically tweak things
Piano roll editor now has step insert recording of incoming MIDI
    Quantization support for triplets
You can give each track a name (rather than just the synth patch, or IAA app name)
    Some graphical tweaking

We've got Sidecar on sale for a bit too.

  • Holy cow. Now we are cooking! Congrats!

  • cool, how can i scroll up to higher octaves on the keyboard?

Good effort SBD even if that acronym makes you sound like the Socialist Bund of Detroit. Looking forward to fiddling with the new bits.

  • Awesome.

My current setup... Ableton Live on Mac sequencing 8 channels of apps in AUM on iPad. When on the go, away from the two machine setup (and no iCA4+), I substitute Infinite Looper for Ableton. I have a preset ready to go that maps IL's tracks 1 - 8 to AUM tracks 1 - 8. I tend to get more ideas done on the go than in my "big" setup. Really excited now that IL has CC automation.

@SecretBaseDesign Would love to have the delete button a little more immediately accessible. When your ears write by trial and error there are a lot of errors and being able to quickly undo/delete/edit would help the process. Please forgive me if I'm missing the easy way (and if I am please, please educate me :)).

Thank you for adding step recording. Having a little trouble setting or changing the number of bars therein. Bug or again just dumbness on my part?

Right now, there's only swipe-left-to-erase for the loop. Should have undo in the next update, and something else that you're going to like even more than undo will be there as well....

You should be able to change the number of bars with the little "hamburger" icon in the upper right of the piano roll. Tap that, go to modify loop, and you can double the length of the loop (with or without the notes), as well as increase or decrease the number of measures by 1. The control events are not duplicated, so you may need to record/edit that (I usually do notes first, and then control is the very last thing I add to a piece).

On the main record screen -- the gear button that brings up the dialog for turning automation recording on or off also has a button to clear all of the automation for a track. If you want to clear or edit a single controller, you do that through the piano roll.

Up above the keys is a little light grey horizontal bar -- grab that and slide left or right. If you tap to the left or right side of the bar in the region above the keys, you'll make the keys wider or narrower. On the left side of the keyboard is a button to slide the pitch/mod controls in and out, and the gear on the upper right will open a dialog to let you configure the scale and arrangement of the keys.

Thank you baas...will have a Monday morning fiddle (better than working, but please don't let that be your mantra; really appreciate that you're still grinding on this piece of nice and looking forward to whatever else your sleeve holds...).

  • Just bought in to Infinite Looper and Sidecar, thanks for the sale @SecretBaseDesign! I'm still pretty new to these music apps, but I can tell these two apps are forward-thinking for sure.

I would love to get your first impressions if you feel like sharing -- or anyone else for that matter (hint, hint @JohnnyGoodyear)

I'm also going to ping @AlexB and @rafaeldk because they have both started threads recently about clip launchers w/ MIDI capabilities and a clip is typically just a loop or one-shot, if I'm not mistaken.

Also, @syrupcore has a master plan that he obviously put a lot of thought into.

  • Except that MIDI clip launchers don't do time-stretching of audio loops.

Well, hello there handsome update. Thank you Mr. P!

If you wiggle the pitch wheel, you can make MIDI sound like it's been time-stretched! ;-)

Neither of threads about clip launchers mention time-stretching in the OP. I'm not suggesting that @SecretBaseDesign apps will meet everyone's needs.

In one of those threads, Professor Patrick very modestly states...

@SecretBaseDesign Infinite Looper has midi learn in the works, I believe, and it would be a missed opportunity were it to not include clip launching in that update.

The current version has MIDI learn -- and you can shift from section to section (which might get the desired clip launching behavior). Set up different sections with different sets of loops, and then toggle forward/back as needed... It might (or might not) do what's needed.

    Love it! ;)

  • @SecretBaseDesign would it be at all possible to have an easier way of selecting the built in instrument sounds? There's not a way to preview the sound, you go in, select it, go back out, then play the keys, oops not that one, go back in, etc. maybe just a "next button" or a scroll list that doesn't obscure the keyboard. Not a huge deal, but would be nice.

  • @SecretBaseDesign - having an issue with the update. I am on the free version still (give the piano roll note folding to the chosen scale and i'm probably in ) But since the update - I see no way to scroll the keyboard. I was tapping in the grey bar area above the keyboard and i got the pitch/modulation to disappear when I pushed the grey bar area beside the pitch/mod. When I tap in the other areas, the keyboard does zoom in each time I tap - but no way to scroll. I did manage once at first to somehow get it to scroll up to a higher notes, but can't replicate it since. Any thoughts? I see no buttons or anything to reference keyboard zoom/scroll. Should i be ?

  • @Halftone -- I had glitch in putting together the build for Aleph, and a couple of art assets got missed. I've got a fixed version that was just submitted, and the turn-around for reviews with Apple is much faster now (12 hours is not unlikely). Should have the update out by this time tomorrow. In the meantime, check your messages -- I'll send you a code for Infinite (which does work correctly right now).

    very cool

  • @SecretBaseDesign is the best. Seriously. There are many times I've thought about going back to Live on a laptop or Surface or something. But there is something really cool about iOS devs like Patrick. He cares about doing cool stuff just "because" and is exceedingly generous with his products and time. Gives me a little faith in humanity...

  • ^ What all of them said.

    +1

He is a developer, musician, professor, and probably a dad, too.
