Not sure if it is wacky but two ipads both running Blocs lets you do interesting things with Aum/Blocs/FX ----> Blocs. Next up I am going to try Circuit----->Aum/Blocs/FX----->Blocs

Sounds interesting. More details please :)

Both ipads have their own Roland Duo Capture for output/input. For FX I am using Effectrix and csSpectral. Both Blocs are loaded up with the past few months of various apps and Circuit recordings. So now it is just more and more loops and jams to be dumped to PC... will I ever finish anything again? :)

That's why I would go back to jamming in a heartbeat. People just meeting up with lots of bits and pieces and throwing them at the jam until something sticks :p

  • Finger Fiddle > BIAS Amp > AUFX: Dub is proving to be a recipe for wacky magic. Particularly when using the Cello in FF and a boatload of distortion in BIAS.

I loved FF to start with, it's just that I started getting pain in my hands if I used it much :/

Throw a -----> Launchpad on the end and you got somewhere near my normal messabout workflow

Shame we don't live closer. Would love to just come and jam with our setups.

That would be awesome! Sad to say I have only ever had one jam session in my life.

    Did you enjoy it?

Yah it was great, happened very spotaneously. I can see the appeal.

Yes it's that spontaneity that I can't replicate recording. I know some people can, I can't and admit it.

I believe the group dynamic is all important. From my experience I work better standing back and playing off someone else. I'm not the sort of person who can lead proceedings. Problem comes when you get more than one who feels they should lead at the detriment of the whole. When that happens I would walk from that group :p

When it works, it's just a wonderful freeing feeling!

Yep, when I was in the band, we never tried to write, we just jammed and things happened, and very quickly.

Definitely. No way in hell I can play it like the dude in the promo video, especially on the pro. I just use it flat on a desk now. Pretty sure that's the wrong way to do it. But then again I doubt the developer intended for lunatics to run it through death metal size distortion, so there's that. Also, drowning it in a canyon-sized reverb sounds really great, and masks a lot of the fumbling I tend to generate when trying to land on the right notes, etc.

I would still like someone to develop a quality guitar shaped control for the iPad. There was one, but it wasn't quite good enough. I would like a touch screen the length of a normal guitar fret board and a real wood body for the iPad to be mounted on securely. I know it would be expensive, but it would make some touch apps really much better. The fret board touch screen could be programmable to have different setups from Animoog style keys, fret boards with different tunings and even knobs and sliders.

Given that I am not a live guy most of my recording is just flopping about thinking/hoping I can 'fix it in post'. For me it is all collage source material and a huge percentage goes completely unused, which is fine by me. I would love to do long live jams that are seamless and listenable for others but a nice balance for me would be to jam with people and feed it all multitracked into a usb mixer/pc daw for later editing. Best of both worlds.

Yes I wanted to live record all my doodlings, but it seemed quite costly when I looked at it.

A laptop with enough hard drive space to just record.
Mixer with enough inputs and multichannel digital audio to the laptop.
Then multi iPad band members ;)

Talking about wacky things to be adored
There are also some very cool new tweaks in iVCS3 unseen before,
I pimped the patches again and there is now a very cool random function that gives you control over the randomness,
Also cool new sequencer tweaks ...

Will stop now dancing naked around you

  • My wacky set up today reduced wackiness. Using Circuit & LP Pro to play Synthmaster-iOS. Just using Lightning to USB for iPAd + the LP Pro & Circuit plugged in to Mac. IAC Bus to catch the MIDI: https://aud-ios.com/2016/10/19/use-ios-apps-with-circuit-launchpad-pro/
