  • Bought the thingie to encourage the dev. Never really made too much progress with ED, but many here like it and it has long been on my 'give it a day's attention' list. Seems like a major step forward with a few bugs to work out, but am optimistic they will be addressed.

I think this app will always have a few bugs - nature of the beast it seems...

This was one of the most eagerly awaited apps for me, but I never really got into it - bugs, and an overwhelming number of options and things, and then when I finally got the hang of it they changed stuff around. But, I've always had a soft spot for it, and been determined to do something with it.

Pulled it out for the update, and actually find it a lot more usable now - the automation panel is great, really useful, and the sample thing adds a bit of softness to counterbalance the harsh old glitchy synth.

Did a quick thing with it, and I'll put it up for SOTM, once Soundcloud stops telling lies that I'm out of minutes.

I really enjoyed using this today - no crashes, no mucking about. This feller has just been moved from my 'WTF' folder to the 'Almost a thing' one.

I've had the same experience with ED. Haven't bought the IAP yet since some are reporting issues with not transferring purchase between devices.

Someone was requesting a demo of the new sampler.. I'd +1 that.

I spent time with it a couple months ago and made some progress, but never really "got" it.

Encouraging indeed. Look forward to hearing your noodle etc.

They've let me in, posting now. You'll only be disappointed etc.

  • This is such a great pal for Blocs. That is basicly my filter for everything these days... 'Does Blocs like it?'

Dunno, pretty dull afternoon working over here, so it's something to look forward to.... :)

  • Re: the universal IAP, if you try to re-purchase the IAP, it will state that you've already paid for this and ask if you'd like to download the IAP for free. A 'restore purchase' option would be nice, but I just thought I'd let the wary know that it is indeed a universal purchase.

How much is it? I don't fully understand how the sampler feature works yet. Will it be more clear after this IAP?

  • Oh this is nice. Sell your Bastl Microgranny. Sampler Automation is awesome.

ED: Can you PLEASE make an option to toggle song mode default to off? I too often switch through presets to get an idea and can't get past the annoyance of flipping to performance screen to turn it off when I load one.

Is it my imagination, or is the automation editing feature iPad only? Love it, but I can also see it allow me to go a bit too crazy and lose some grooves.

  • Oh wow! This thing is really making more sense now, vs when I'd originally tried to figure it out. Finally clicking with it. Totally new beast with the new features... Off to buy that IAP now. :)

I have looked and have not found it on my iPhone.

No, to understand the new sampler feature (that comes free with the update), you'll need to tweak. When you select a sample, there are 3 or 4 knobs that help you choose the length of the sample, end point, etc.. The IAP only let you import you own samples. However, I think it's a little help for a quite dedicated dev.

I bought the IAP last night after playing with the included samples. Really cool. I'm not a beat-oriented user like some here, but I've found it very useful for sounscaping at lower BPM and using the FX and editable automation. :)

  • When I read all the comments I hold of till I see a good video review.

Funny isn't it? I found the same thing, just easier to use and work with after the update.

Not sure if I need the IAP as I've already got a ton of sample manglers, but I reckon I'll be using this app a lot more now.

Interesting, just curious what is your favorite sample mangler at the moment?

iDensity is the one I use most for sample based soundscaping, for rhythmic stuff probably Blocs, and Audiostretch for manipulating a single sample.

    Thx.
iDensity was always tempting but never made the step to buy
Blocs although I bought it on sale didn't play with it yet
Audiostretch, interesting I think I downloaded that app years ago for free, but hardly used it. Should have another look.

Still using Sampletoy an app from 2010 that never was updated. The simplicity is still great. I would like to see this of this type of straight forward apps nowadays and not too overcomplex manglers. Unfortunately no Audiobus and LINK.

I forgot about that, I had it on my phone but just loaded it onto the iPad for a play - fun app, shame there's no AB or IAA as it'd be a useful little tool.

iDensity is great for soundscapes, probably wouldn't recommend it for much else though. Similar to Borderlands in that sense. Fieldscaper's another one, more complicated though.

Egoist and the Gadget sampler gadgets are good for rhythmic stuff too.

    Thanks for that.

  • Hello everybody, I made a new video, I hope this answers some questions ;)
I will also update the manual in the next minutes, so it should be more up to date.
    Cheers and happy sampling :)

  • @magnum38 Nice!

The 'manual' states that it should be possible to delete FX-Autmation by double-tapping the X&Y-Grid but that does not seem to work at all. Also there is something fishy with deleting presets as it sometimes make the whole app 'dive' when trying to select a new preset after the active preset is 'deleted'. (I've just synced my iPad so the chrash-logs should have been sent automatically If it works as it is supposed to work).

The new automation features are awesome!

  • I am so loving this update! Thank you so much!!

May I ask how is this update working on ipad air 1, or ipad 4th gen? I've been having some crackle probs with ED the last few updates, sadly it basically doesn't work right, anymore, on the ipad 4th gen, even as the only app running. Buffer cranked to the slowest. No way to go back to an older, lighter weight version...

Air1 is fine for me but I am not too concerned with live performance so there may be some realtime pops and clicks going on that i just ignore. When i play back all the patterns in song mode though i don't notice any issues.

  • Looks really good, will be buying the iap when I get home tonight

  • Anyone else get a crash when you press "random" in the sampler section?
