I just opened Guitarism to be greeted by this message. Anyone else seeing this?

  • Never seen that message before!
    I have a feeling the apps been abandoned though. No updates for 2 years and the iaps are free now.

  • @Rhism (the dev) used to visit us. Any idea what he's been up to?

    No. It is not a good sign...

  • Last comment I remember was him saying that his brother had done the android version of guitarism....

  • I looked up @Rhism's activity on the forum here not too long ago, to see if there were any sign of life. Early 2015, I think, was the last appearance. The App still works here, and I still love it, but I think the realities of app economy got to him. When does the Apple old-app house cleaning thing happen. Would it qualify at this point?

    Pretty safe to say many of us would be willing to buy it all over again just to keep it maintained, but wouldn't it be nice if it hosted AUs, too?

  • Ive seen this message on at least 10 apps ive opened recently

  • iPad Air 2 and iOS 10.1.1, and I'not seeing this, the app works as it should.
    But yeah, @Rhism , this is one of my favourite apps and I would be willing to pay for a renewed version...

  • when i have seen it, i haven't noticed the app do anything slow or not optimal

    Yeah, me too. Apps continue to work well.

  • I've been getting that message on multiple apps lately on my IPad Pro running the newest OS. Haven't noticed a slow down though. I've also had a problem recently with a couple of Apps (AUM and Words with Friends) crashing at startup (like Auria was doing prior to the Tonebridge update). In this case though, they work again after rebooting my device. What's up with that?

  • Same here it happened once updated to IOS10. But a nice update is needed specially sync issues.

  • It appears on 64bit devices on apps that only support 32bit. Nothing to be scared. I think it only appears one time (for me it does).

  • I'd buy this app again, out of the hundreds of guitar apps I've used on iOS, Guitarism is my go-to favourite by a big margin.

    @Rhism I <3 your work, we miss you, beg beg grovel grovel please take our money, your app, it giz me a happy, I want to keep on playing it for ages more, please come back, I haz a pine ...

    ... ok putting the grovel down now ...

    @Rhism ?

    Actually, I've had this on a few apps....... Sunrizer for example.

  • The message itself is nothing to worry about. It is generated automatically to scare developers into updating their old apps. Most likely there won't be any slowdown whatsoever.

    If I correctly interpreted Apple's communication to the developer community, users of 'abandoned apps' can keep using their apps without issue. They'll just remove the apps from their storefront so new customers can't buy it anymore.

    Clever Chess moves from Apple. :)

  • Ah, Ok. Thanks everyone.
    I have been experiencing quite a few crashes with various apps recently, where the screen either just freezes or the app exits and goes back to the home screen. This even happens with FB so not just music apps. I am down to 8-9 Gb available space on my 128Gb iPad Air 2 latest iOS but I would have thought that was plenty of space for apps to "breathe"?

  • Would love if an auto rotate was added though. Currently is stuck one way up correct?

  • I think the message pops up only once for every 32-bit app. This started for me on one of the iOS 10.0.x updates. Glad to see it shouldn't be a problem.

    That's less than 10%. I would give yourself more breathing room, if possible.

    +1 for that! :)

    Guitarism = abandonware.

    I just stopped caring about this app a while ago. It's not like it's unique to what it does or anything like that anyway. The developer probably move to something else a long time ago. It's probably a good thing if it's removed from the store (it's not really fair for new customers to buy this now). For existing users It will probably keep its basic functions working for a long time but things like IAA or audiobus might stop working at some point
    (on the downside it's already full of minor and major bugs already and it's only iOS 10 so... who knows?)

  • I'm on the latest ios and have been using guitarism without any problems whatsoever. The developer is a nice guy that used to hang in these parts. Maybe he's busy, ill or working on something, or just hanging. I love the app. It still does what I need it to.

    I'm using an ancient iPad 2 with version 9.3.4 and have experienced no problems with the mighty Guitarism.

  • This is the best user community on the internet DAMMIT!!!!!!

  • Love Guitarism. By itself thru an effects app - or using its midi out to play synth pads .. I have Chordion but often use Guitarism instead for playing chords this way. Works great. Rarely have any issues with this app on my iPad 4 iOS 9.3.1. And works great on iPhone too.
