Cubasis interface is very engaging for me. Simple to set up. Great graphics on the synth and most everything else. I wish i could resize the tracks though.

Simply perform a vertical two finger gesture on the track list to resize tracks in both directions.

    Best,
    Lars

I second that, because my last SOTMC song needed 42 tracks, which Auria handled without issues on my Pro 9.7"

I've only mixed one song on auria so just estimating future issues, but 12-13 tracks of audio, no instruments, ddmf as 1rst aux fx and included delay as second. Some psp compression and eq on most channels. Maybe one other plugin (all other fx were "printed " in before exporting from cubasis. Bus compressor and eq and system required going to 512 for mixdown. Going on that it would seem that if i was running 4-5 instances of ruismaker plus some synths i would quickly hit a wall. Glad to be wrong.

  • What required the 512 buffer size in your setup were the MIDI and software instruments (Ruismaker etc) that should rather be bounced to audio, unless that will lock you in 512. I had those 42 tracks, but at the mixing stage, with all tracks bounced to audio, with a FF Pro Q2 instance active for each track, and the occasional OverLoudTHM for bass and guitars, using the (top notch) built-in buss compressor, as well as two subgroups with FF ProQ2 as well. Of course, my buffer was 4096. No CPU spikes, an absolutely smooth sailing here - that has been my experience since buying the 9,7" btw. If you have the Pro 12.9", it should perform marginally better.

  • Black Friday sales are coming very soon. I bet if you waited a few weeks you might be able to get Cubasis and Auria Pro for $50 total.

I am very glad to have both. I find lots of situations where I hit a snag with one, and move over to the other. Auria Pro is the clear winner when it comes to mixing.

  • could anyone explain the 'swing' setting in the quantize menu? i don't get it - seems to be a soft quantize but it does not work as i expect it to in Cubasis LE demo mode?

Hey. Well i wrote that it was only audio. No midi. But cool, guess i was estimating wrong.

Its probably down to having DDMF as an AU. AUs are far less efficient than the native plugins, because you are essentially running a separate app on top of Auria.

Also, with no MIDI tracks you should definitely set the buffer to 4096.

Sloppy midi timing, I've found when a few tracks get going.

    Hi LeeB,

We are not aware of midi timing issues in Cubasis.
Please let me have more details and a step description how to reproduce.

    Thanks for your support.

    Best,
    Lars

Cubasis 2.0 is also sluggish in bigger projects (swiping/zooming in the arranger screen). It was better in the older version (though not perfect) and i hope they can improve it again.

    Hi Crabman,

Please let me have more details (iPad in use, project settings, step by step description) so we can give it a repro.

    Thanks,
    Lars

if you had to talk me out of buying Cubasis which cons would you mention?

The amount of time you will lose in your life because you are making awesome tracks in it ?

Don't buy it and make great music for the rest of your life when instead you could get a tshirt that could sit in the stack of tshirts you don't wear for the rest of your life.

Hi, I'm actually in Mexico at the moment away from the ipad and I would actually need to re install it to reproduce. I can't remember how many tracks I had going, maybe 6 or 7 midi with 2 or 3 of those being IAA tracks, the others just internal drum kits, but my ears notice the slightest timing discrepancies and that turns me off.
I'll give it another go when I return and see if I can send you an example.

    Thanks for the concern.

    Lee

  • One huge pro is that lars from cubasis jumps in super quick always. This attention to support should be commended and rewarded.

  • @LFS is but one of the reasons I remain a Cubasis user :)

  • Yep. If I wasn't so entrenched with DP, I would be a Cubase user by now.

    Hi Lee,

    Thanks for your immediate reply.

If you give the issue another go, please make sure to file a bug report in our forum:
    http://www.steinberg.net/cubasisforum

There it is also possible to provide download links to examples etc. via private message.

    Thanks again for your support,

    Lars
