I'm basically the same. Though I think I've purchased all of the other loopers out there. Just keep coming back to Loopy for features::simplicity::MIDI control.
I don't loop live anymore so the 'several actions per midi message' isn't really a thing for me (though +1 to getting around it with MidiFlow or similar). I more looking forward to more loop slots and the ability to set up scenes or song sections. Or a one-touch "Open all of these loops as separate tracks in ... [daw of choice]" IAP added to HD.
Well my color picker suggestion ala Blocswave plus ableton export could be an amazing solution but meanwhile why just not use export from Loopy into Blocs?
This is from my post about iPhone GTL version proposal and multiple IAA vs AUv3 plus bus routing UX/UI implementation ideas. These could be applied to any looper (or loop sample based... even midi) app.
I haven’t tried that. Is it possible to export all loops in one move to Blocs? I know Loopy will zip everything up for export but, tbh, I haven’t tried moving from that into another app in quite a while. Certainly not since Files.app became a thing. I know about exporting one loop at a time but that’s what I’m trying to avoid/skip.
Mmmmm... good question...
Idk if it’s possible to do it as a whole project but maybe there is a way involving audioshare or files... I understand all the samples you are using are performed live, right?
Edit: export from loopy into files is one by one but import into blocs could be for multiple so a possible workaround is route loopy into aum and record multichannel (which aum export automatically into audioshare as dedicsted stems) then import into blocs for further editing and finally export to Ableton. Seems a bit clunky but let you work on loopy, just hit record on aum when you arr set and then export to blocs. If there is an app like automator which could rename these files in batch processing (inside audioshare) then the import into blocs will be even straightforward.
In my actual workflow I will work directly recording into Blocs since I work more with packs than opposite. Implementing Ableton export in Looping apps could be amazing. Also apps getting ableton import from other apps could be gorgeous since, in the end, ableton export is just an encapsulation like zip and the Api is open to anyone afaik...
For co-ordinated multi-track looping, I think Loopy is still the best most reliable looper there is (and super flexible -- via MIDI you have tons of options) if you don't need structured song-form type looping.
Right now I am enjoying a combination of:
Enso
Gauss
Drambo
Loopy HD is great too and I am super excited for Loopy Pro.
I am loving Group The Loop. Simple and the fact that I can use AUs in the effects slots, it’s awesome. Just my opinion.
It’s an older thread but it checks out.
I love Endlesss.
As a Guitarist, coming from a background of using many hardware loopers including Boss and also MIDI foot controlled Mobius VST running inside of Ableton with drum machine VST's like Groove Agent. My vote is for Quantiloop. I like it best with the Lumbeats apps and it is great with AUM because you can record your whole performances in multitrack and export to the DAW of choice for futher editing. I paid full price for it and the drum machine apps and I still think it is a steal.
I think the developer took a lot of his ideals from the Boss looper pedals and from Mobius. I could have purchased any looper pedal I desired and opted on this setup with a new iPad. My Boss RC10R has been sitting idol ever since.
Hoping Loopy pro can have the circle thing in sidebar for iaa's. Which will corespond to Drambo circle thing in aum. So iaa's are hosted in aum but sidebar in full screen iaa's show the circle. At the mo I think Drambo is 16 bar max. Think you need to know where you are in 16 bars. Only option I think at the mo ( if im correct ) is to abelton link a device with a dummy drambo.
Or know the sound but maybe not ideal with 16 bars. You would need to listen carefully or always have a defining point of sound. Its easy with less bars.
Or if im correct and do buy a device for the circle. Maybe it wont be much work to be able to set a loopy pro circle in audiobus ( if audiobus is actually needed to start/stop across devices anyway ) a full screen circle which is set to bars and spins to set bar length without a recording.
I see many Quantiloop aficionados here. I’m intrigued!
I have a few questions though:
1. Does it host IAA? (I need it for Samplr)
2. Does it allow to set the length of the loop on the fly? (Stops looping when rec button’s pressed again but rounds it up to the next measure like Loopy)
3. Does it support long press action. (For example To clear loop)
4. Does it expose AU parameters to map via midi?
5. Does it allow for flexible external interface routing? (Or is it set?)
Cheers!
Edit: all of the above will be in Loopy Pro, I’m just a bit impatient!
Yes to all of the above and then some.
