  • @Samu ok, i can hear it. Sounds like a buffer problem i have to look at. In the meantime you can try to set buffer size in AUM to 128 or 256. Let me know if the makes the difference

  • @akeia The AU parameter are on our list too, but this needs a bit more time here - therefore this is for the next-next update ;-)

  • @VirSyn - The AU parameter are on our list too, but this needs a bit more time here - therefore this is for the next-next update ;-)

That are splendid news. Its the same issue with AudioReverb ;)

Have not bought this yet, but have just read through this thread and as a result of your attention will now do so...keep up the good work.

My buffer in AUM was set to 64...
    128 and 256 solves it.

Splendid! I have most virsyn apps. Not this one but you put alot of work in this so it's on my list. Great support!

you shouldn't go below 128, even with the latest iPad. On my i7 PC workstation I never go below 256, to keep the entire system stable and responsive.

I must have accidentally forgot AUM at 64 for testing purposes. Most of the time I use 128 or 256. Sample rate also comes into play here...

I have my iPad Air 2 Iive rig set to 128 and it's been super stable and responsive. I never felt the need for 64 quite honestly. Even percussive instrument such as impaktor is well playable at 128.

Of course if 64 is available and stable I'm not going to say no but I'm a happy camper as is.

  • It also has a neat randomize function.

  • Nice, I just grabbed this as I do love my Holderness FX, Dedalus and Turnado but need something a little less extreme and overwhelming as those FX. Looking forward to dropping in with my standard FX test sounds , Thumbjam Cello and iM1 EP Pad

  • @VirSyn Anyone know how much longer the intro-pricing will last?

  • VirSyn is on fire. The 'fix' for small(64) buffer-size just hit the AppStore, nice! :)

  • I'm so glad videos are surfacing showing off this app: inevitably I'd get it but hearing it in action changes the to-buy status to Bought. Excellent.

@Samu couldn't reproduce the problem with feedback on the reverb. I assume that there was no "real" feedback via microphone ?
@Artmuzz The AU version delegates the selection and saving of presets to the host. In AUM for example you can save a user preset with the plus sign in the preset list shown by AUM.
@supadom The next version including MIDI learn (for the stand alone App, Audiobus and IAA version) is in the works already.

Really looking forward to midi learn. I take it that it will be virtual midi and not just core midi?

That update is up, bubba. Rolled into the same one @Samu mentioned earlier. Omni or 16 channels, so up to 16 instances can be controlled, I assume. Standalone and IAA only. Haven't messed with it yet.

Oh sweet! Can anyone confirm that it works by automating parameters in Modstep?

  • Hey - I really want to buy this, but have a couple of specific needs:

    1. Can you turn the effects on instantaneously?, like if when I was playing a note, were to hit the delay on, the delay would effect the note? Or is there a noticeable delay (Ilike to turn a delay on to repeat a recently struck note or chord, dub style).

    2. Similarly, if you turn the delay off, does it have "tails", i.e., keep playing/echoing until it dies off, or does it immediately turn off (which would suck).

    3. Is the effect on/off MIDI learnable? I.e., could I assign a button or knob on a controller to turn an effect on/off? (Again, I'm most interested in delay for this aspect).

OK, thanks anyone that can answer these questions - Ilove the Virsyn synths, have most of them, so am very interested in these stand-alone effect (in fact, not long ago I think I whined about a lack of stand alone effects for keyboard players - so glad to see Virsyn was already on that!).

  • @roygbiv

    Short answer:
    1. yes (on instantly)
    2. no (off instantly)
    3. yes (the new midi learn works the switches as well as the knobs)

In short, I don't think this is the multi effect you're looking for. The range of parameters available to each effect are somewhat restrained, so that they can all work predictably together, I guess. The delay effect is probably not suitable for dub— it stays in the ambient category, mostly.

Although I do wish they'd opened some of these up a bit more, I can see what they're up to. This app is more for dressing up tracks than for mangling or other specialty uses.

Where have you found videos? I haven't been able to find any.

Does it work with virtual midi ports or is it core midi (hardware) only?

Thanks! Sounds great, although given my vast collection of effect apps I'm not really sure I'm getting anything I don't already have. It is in one neat tidy package though, and AU.
    Sold!

  • Thanks aaronpc - very helpful info. Gonna debate it some more - which it did trails, but otherwise sounds like a pretty good setup.

Last week broke down and bought the full effects load for IK Multimedia Amplitube, as it is the only thing that fits all three criteria l listed above - its just annoying to have all the amp stuff in there I don't need for keyboards. oh well.

  • The great thing with this one is AU we can have as many as we want at the same time

  • I'm liking this effects app a lot. It's the type of 'multi effect' I've been waiting for.

Who knows maybe some of the future improvements could be to freely select what effects to use in each of the 'slots' or to process left and right side independently?

lol, can't un-see that now, just the sort of mind virus that once caught stays for life, lol

  • hmm, these effects looks pretty plain for this app company. I get that they are basic fx but i hoped for a few crazy effects, loopers or something special. The signal path order is cool but not enough. I guess Im just spoiled by the more 'crazy fx' apps and options. Maybe some of the fx are more extreme than normal? I really like this app comp so i may be wrong. cheers

I was pleasantly surprised to find it quite tame.
