  • First bit of good news I've had all day. This makes me happy

  • I can now send out the testflight invites.

So just a few notes about this version. If you never tried the app before, you can take a look at the manual there are no changes to the initial version in this regard. In the settings screen in the top left, is the midi button, you can use it to select a midi destination, select its own port or send it to another app. This should work well for most apps. The app runs in background when connected to Midi oder IAA.

One issue at the moment is with AB3. The connection is a bit wonky. I cannot start the app directly from AB3 and connect it to some FX apps (tried apeDelay and squasIt), when doing so the sound freezes. Having the app already running and launching the FX first before connecting should work though. But others apps I tried had also some similar issues with the new AB. Might work better once the new sdk is available. Did not try it with the older AB2.

Another small issue are semi-rare crashes related to input, pushing buttons, swiping etc., wasn't there in the older version, so its not performance safe :D

The update is now live in iTunes.

    What's New in Version 1.1
Introducing Audiobus and Inter-App Audio support. Now you can stream live audio directly to other Audiobus and IAA compatible apps!
Improved Midi support. You can now send notes via Core-MIDI to other apps.

If you start and setup your chain from within Audiobus you should have no issues at all. Just in some cases, when apps started from outside, or already running, there might be a connectivity problem , but clearing the session and-or restarting helps. Also fixed the occasional crashing issue I had with the beta, should be safe now.

Reflecting on the improved usefulness, as some people suggested on this thread, I increased the price a bit from 1.99$ to 3.99$. It's not the best marketing move, but I'am not really a fried of In-App purchases. That way everyone who bought it gets the update for free and I think it's still not too expensive in comparison.

If there are no problem with this version, the next thing on my list is Link support.

Also made a small pad loop with DRC and midi ;)

  • @gwio Hey Chris, I am going to buy this as a small nod to your efforts with connectivity. Please DO keep Link at the top of your 'next' list. It's a big deal.

  • @gonekrazy3000 Interested to see what you make of the update...

  • I'm loving the update. although it badly needs some form of sync. looking forward to the ableton link update :)
the app will see a lot of use once it gets it :D

  • More grids! More grids!

Bigger grids is more doable at the moment. It already works to 95% right now, just need to change that number in the code. It's just more a problem with performance (in regard to the sound engine and polyphony) and UI (might get to small on iPhones).

But it might be doable as a kind of "multiple apps inside" so you would chose at start if you want to use 5x5, 6x6,7x7 grids etc...

Yeah but its not really a priority right now ;)

Sorry, I'm not really this impolite... I had a good play with this app last night. It's fun and I look forward to seeing how it develops. Nice work!

I always appreciate it when developers engage on this forum as well.

  • Nice App!!!
Does each grid have its own midi channel?

Yes, (2-4, small glitch in this version, should be 1-3). I should mention this more clearly on the website ;)

  • Awesome - with each grid having midi out its a instabuy for me!

That seems like a fair and preferred approach. Reward the early adopters with free updated features and don't pollute the app with IAPs.

Looks fun. Might have to bite on this one. Universal too. Nice

  • So this was faster than expected. I have a beta with Link support available. The sync seems to work fine, maybe not perfect via network, but might be the wifi ;). Would be great to get a few volunteers to give it a try.

  • Got it !!!!

  • yes! very cool app!

  • ohh link link link thats the only thing iam missing here, maybe ab3 midi. BUt theres is midi so it will work either way

  • @gwio can I has beta please ?

The Testflight invites are out, also fixed the beta a bit, Link should sync fine now, looks almost ready to go live on the Appstore.

  • Version 1.2 is out now.

    New stuff:
    Now with Ableton Link integration.

    Fixes:
    Upgraded to Audiobus3 SDK.
Midi now sends correctly to channels 1-3.
Fixed some problems with faulty Midi Messages and hanging notes.

  • I have this app and like it. It's fun and you can get some decent compositions going easily. The developer is responsive too. I was having some issue with the midi out from the launch version, so the developer (thinking I'd already refunded it) gave me a promo code. I hadn't refunded it, so I have a free promo code.

I was going to make a little contest or something, but I'm trying to get packed... so, check back on this thread sometime in the next 15-30mins and a free promo code will appear on this thread. (Gotta have a little fun with it) ;)

  • And it's....

  • Disfruta!!! :) PM46L3EM63YK
