can anyone offer advice for my ipad mini2?
It's on 9.3.5 right now. Go for it? Or is 9.3.5 a good solid place to sit on?
I haven't seen any new features I would make use of.

Im on 9.3.5 on my ipad as well, not going to be updating anywhere soon. I have ios 10 on my phone and i prefer ios9, especially for ipad. And at least i know what works and what doesent :D

  • My iphone 5s began screen flickering just after updating to 10.1.1, so i wonder if this might fix it. Right now i have it set for nightShift mode and hasn't flickered anymore.

  • F-ck it. I'm gonna wait. I made the mistake of updating to 10 too early and had more bugs than a 1-star greasy spoon diner.

@Redo1 my mini2 was upgraded to 10.1.1 and has been running well with no noticible annoyances. I'm going to wait a bit and let the dust settle before getting on board with 10.2.

  • I have been on iOS 10 since the first beta. Overall the most stable iOS version in years. Also iOS 10.2 went through 7 beta versions, it's working great.

All devices supporting iOS 10 are relatively new (except the iPad 4) it will not slow your device in any way.

  • I see the latest iOS version has the licence agreement, the nag screen update, bypassed that.

  • I updated an Air 2 and an iphone 5. So far, no issues at all. The Air 2 update kind of seemed to force, or strongly shepherd me to sign up for Two-Factor-Authorization. I'm not sure I like that or not.

I did notice that the update somehow freed up a little more than 1.5GB of storage space somehow.

  • I hope the update fixes this bloody screen rotate bug, drives me round the bends.

  • The update forces you to join a religious sect where one has to eat ones own thumbs. I am a little nift that Apple is again forgetting the iPad musician - we cherish our thumbs just as dearly as did the Fonze back in the seventies :p

    Not without my inflatables!

Was that because the update was already downloaded but not installed yet?

  • Alchemy Mobile still works on my iPhone after upgrading to 10.2.

  • Alchemy Mobile still works on my iPad, as well.

No. I was running out of space. The update triggered some kind of housekeeping mechanism.

  • Works fine here.

Hm, still no love for iPad from apple :/

  • You say this because of no changes allowing file system access etc.? I really hope to be wrong here, but I don't think it's goint to happen for a while. If ever.

    It did the washing up?

I just recently went to 10.1.1 from 9.3.5 on my Air 2, I was wary of updates after being burned by Android & Sony, so for like a year & a half I stayed on 8.4 until going into 9.

10.1.1 had this bug with screen orientation locking up, especially on Air 2's, which like @MonzoPro says is just irritating. Even if most apps I use are landscape, occasionally I'll do something that is on portrait and it's a drag to have to reboot the Air 2 to get the rotation to work right again.

I updated to 10.2, even though I couldn't find anything online to see if this update fixes the bug, after an hours search. Well, so far so good, haven't had any orientation jams after a few hours using the Air 2 on the new update.

@MonzoPro I hope you get the bug sorted out on your end. As far as iOS 10.2 goes, it seems to work fine, as good as 9 was working for me.

  • Shit, installed this morning and it made my jack input disappear!!

I guess it's safe to assume it's waterproof too then.

    Ready for testing!

  • I hope that overflow is connected and tight! The input flow rate there looks like it probably exceeds what the overflow can get rid of.

The update itself claims to be 339,1 Mb, so that seems not an explanation.

  • Installed. It made very little difference to the remaining storage showing on mine. I have however updated recently and that one gave me back some showing storage.
