iVCS3 updated with AU

New iVCS3 update, can be used as an AU, in both the instrument and effect slot. The instrument slot just gives you VCOs with no sort of amp control, at least that I can find.

  • I guess you use the ENV AU effect to control the amp? Not that I expected everything to be straightforward with this app, it's part of it's charm.

  • Also universal (was it already?)

No it was not on iphone before. I was not sure how it would be useability wise on iphone but it is really well laid out

  • Interesting stuff here. The deconstructed iVCS3 AU modules have already, at first play, inspired me to try things I wouldn't have thought to try with the standalone app. First, I ran an instance of the VCO through both Timeless 2 and Volcano, resulting in sheer madness. Then, I tried a Lyra piano through the spring reverb, which sounded quite lovely.

  • Have always been intimidated to the point of whistling in the other direction by iVCS3, but this is a heavyweight update. And I do love Hazel.

  • Oh, and the new "Every picnic needs a Synthi" pic displayed upon opening the full app is pure class.

  • Top developer
    Continued excellence.

It's on iPhone! (Let me go get my magnifying glass) I can't wait to try it on my iPod touch! (let me go get my telescope).

In all seriousness it's so silly, I feel ridiculous going through the UI on a 4 inch screen, power to those who can make it work!, I got bored 5 minutes in. Too much work just to get to make music.

Going to try the AU version right now!.

  • B) AU + iPhone

Not all that different here. It's on my mental "make an entire song with only this app" list, particularly now that it's an AU.

  • Tested Enkl with the iVcs3 filter in Cubasis. I like it. What about playing this in AUM? :D

  • I remember waiting for this to come out a couple of years back. On the release day I was out with the family for the day, and started getting messages from a friend who used to be in a few well known prog-rock bands, and had used the original hardware. 'You've got to get it, it's amazing..' - can't really get better recommendations than someone who played the original, so I hurried the family around the gardens we were visiting so I could get back home and buy the thing.

Wasn't disappointed and though I rarely use it on my iPad projects, like the iMS20 I consider it an essential purchase for serious synth heads.

  • Eiiii! Excellent, insteresting, inteligent and inspiring. Thank you very much.
Just like with Different Drummer, its updates like this that make me buy the uncomprehendible iaps :D What amazing devs we have on the ipad

  • The thing for myself with the iVCS3 is that however little I truly understand what I'm doing with it, an almighty grin is produced when playing with it. This is true also of the iMS20. I really don't care to learn their secrets (something's are just better left as mystical phenomenon), I do however love just twiddling their knobs and seeing where the sound takes me :)

  • What's the cpu usage on this thing as an au?

I find the most limiting thing lately to be cpu usage of synths on my old ipad air 1

  • Its a good job I got some time off this xmas.....I just wouldn't have time to play, erm I mean try and make serious music with all this stuff that has come out over the last month or so. :)

I'm clearly now in the 'Play' camp ;)

Exactly why I bought it. I like synthesizers and this app, realistically, is the only chance I'm ever going to get to have at least a peek at the mystique/magic that is the VCS3. Barely use it but glad to have access to it; not at all unlike a nice coffee table book about the history of the VCS3.

LOL Me too, They day i say to myself "right I'm going to sit down and make some serious music" is the day I will give up ;)

The keyboard player in our band is on the waiting list for a hardware one (they're still being made), but there's about an 8 year wait and so far he's just got the controller keyboard. I keep telling him to buy an iPad Pro and this app while he's waiting....he'll crack eventually...

Especially now I have my monitor speakers back. I sometimes just sit there and hit a deep chord and hold....letting the wonderous deep bass and swirling highs surround me - so relaxing. Synths are actually really useful as relaxation devices :)

Don't forget my WFTKnobs on iVCS3 - during which I inadvertently create a marvellous piece of music which to this day I'm still mystified why it didn't chart in the top ten hit parade.

Maybe it's because you don't have tits? :p

  • Has anyone got a screengrab or photo of it running on a Pro? Be good to see what this, and other synths like the Model 15 look like on the Big Boy.

  • I've just screen grabbed it, but the file is too large. It basically looks no different to how it used to look on my iPad 2 (which did those videos).

    Ah ok, thanks.

  • Brilliant, thanks! I'll send that to our keyboard player so he can see what he's missing...
