  • Hi all,

Out of curiosity is Auria Pro ever seen on sale? I'm dipping my toes in these waters, and am looking for a DAW that's close-ish to what I'm used to on a desktop. Auria looks most familiar to me, but with a number of desktop DAWs beside me I'm having a tough time justifying buying it.

Please feel free to move/delete if this is off topic,

    Many thanks..

Have been enjoying iSpark consistently these past few weeks. Found myself trying to decide which between this and Electric Drums, but then decided it was OK for them both to be good. And now DM2 has a new version out I haven't even got to yet......

DM1 set the standard (for me) as regards making songs with drum machines. I'm not clever enough to make a killer bar, but if I can string together half a dozen easily then I've got a shot....DM2 feels just as straightforward and has a few other things BUT I'm still not convinced it beats its older brother....probably just familiarity on my part...

Yeah i got DM1 the day it was released and it's great

It was like 3 AUD a couple weeks ago, totally worth it even at full price (which is very moderate). The only thing I dislike is that stupid glare effect.

PS. Bought the Synth Drums sound library from Wave Alchemy for just $1 a week ago. It's awesome, contains every major format available (Kontakt, Halion, SFZ, etc) including Ableton Live and Maschine drum packs. So, I'm gonna put my drum synth programming on pause 'cause it's so time consuming...

  • There's another thread re: the FabFilter plugin sale going on in the Auria store, but it's so good it bears repeating here. All of the FabFilter plugs have phenomenal reputations in the desktop/laptop VST, et al plug in formats for DAW's and it's no hype to my ears.

I got Pro-C2, Pro-Q2, Timeless 2 and Saturn over the last week, all for well under the price of one VST version, even when that version is on sale with 25% off like the FabFilter site does right now for the entire line up.

It's tremendous value and a real solid for us iOS music production cats, since everything I've read says there's no difference between the Auria & VST versions of the plugins. Same algorithm, same features, everything. I learned the ins & outs of Saturn on a YouTube video tutorial of the VST version and every feature the VST has was on the Auria, 100% the same, no gimping.

I'm not getting anything but good karma for putting these plugins over. Really, they're worth every dime, especially on sale, and if you use Auria as your DAW & home rig centerpiece you gotta get a few, at least the Comp & EQ. But Timeless 2 is unreal for everything from simple slapback to chaos and Saturn is so goddamn cool. It has so many drive modes (the warm tube & warm tape have been my favorite) that BIAS style dry guitar amping, digital distortion to a round, warm blanket on bass is all possible.

I wish FabFilter did a 12 or even 2 hour demo mode on these plugs because I think when you hear just what a different leauge sound & interface wise they are from even current app store AU, IAA & AudioBus favs, you won't be able to shine them on... they're like must buys.

The 25% sale is on until Jan. 1, 2017...

  • If the Fabfilter were AUv3 and full rice i would buy them, i am considering getting Auria just to use the Q2, it is a standard in studios on the desktop.

  • Hi @LFS
What about CubaseiC Pro. Never going on sale?

  • edited December 2016

One thing about Cubasis, and I'm a huge Auria guy, is this sale their doing with Cubasis LE. If I understand right, to get Cubasis LE to function out of demo mode you must have an approved interface. They're not all just Steinberg interfaces either, if you go to their website there's a list of over half a dozen companies and their interfaces that are accepted.

So, my Tascam US2x2 is on the list and if I got the free Cubasis LE and it recognizes my interface, an upgrade to the full Cubasis version will be an IAP for this sale price of $14.99? That's a great deal.

I'm cool with Auria, totally content, but if someone has been wanting Cubasis and already has an approved interface this is a great deal.

Yep, that's what I did a while ago on a previous sale. I plugged in my iRig HD guitar thingy, and saved myself a lot of money.

Do you have Pro MB? If so, how in simple terms is is better than
PressIt or further up the tree, Final Touch? What I mean is, I get that these filters are very good, but do we need a studio tech' expertise to use them?

  • In general with any effect, if you don't know that you need it, you don't need it, A LOT of effects plugins get sold on the fact they are for sale, not for the amount of use you will ever get out of them.
Reality is that 95% of a mix is level and pan, after that is fixes and tweaks, and non of those fixes and tweaks make a song better.
Old engineering saying ..."A good mix can not make a bad song good, a bad mix can not make a good song bad"

  • @LFS Sorry to pester but any chance of Cubase IC Pro sale please?

I don't have Pro MB Nic. I didn't have any of the FabFilter plugins until the sale came up last week. I knew of their reputation, and also knew that like Auria itself the plugins were such a great value & bang for the buck proposition. But as I said on earlier threads I felt covered with the DDMF Neve EQ and the PSP Channel strip compressor. ThisHoliday deal was too good to pass up though.

I watched all of the FabFilter tech demo videos on YouTube for every pluging they make and they are so well done, explain everything in easy to understand (well, for us, they do get technical not not too bad.) I'd try to watch those and you will get some good info.

My opinion on Multiple Bandwidth Compression from the very minimum experience I had with them in a friends project studio & seeing the videos is this: As producers, engineers & musicians we are trying to present our creative & emotional expression in the most complete way we can.

If we try to always fix it in the mix, or add so much that the picture gets blurred that to me isnt the best way to communicate with the listener. I want my best take, sound, performance to inhabit each track so when I mix it all, what I'm doing is blending & putting sizzle on the steak.

If I commit and get the best sound recording from jump street, compress it there and make it as complete as possible, when mixing I shouldn't have to then do surgical multiple band compression to get the track to get over. I don't know if Im explaining it well, I just personally try to commit and build the sculpture in a complete way. It's probably a carry over from using analog gear when starting out...there wasn't the option or technology to go back and surgically massage the dynamics of the song.

That being said the Final Touch app is great for bringing the mix into that glue stage, so I assume a FabFilter produced MB comp would be even better. But I'm very happy with Pro -C and the PSP bus comp, so haven't been interested in the MB.

Nic Im curious what others think too. If you get it keep us posted on your working with it...

    Be cool, JohnRSIV
