Old engineering saying ..."A good mix can not make a bad song good, a bad mix can not make a good song bad"

    >

Yeah, and as my partner succinctly put it - "I can't hear much difference."

I've been watching the videos, getting the gist of most things, just occasionally getting lost in the technicalities, and still wondering... just how much difference even top quality filters can make. Often, I'm thinking it's a difference that cannot be heard on the equipment most people listen to music on.

Not that the above would stop me gambling a few extra quids, should Santa be generous. ;)

  • You can get a Zoo Med Can O' Bloodworms for 3.99 as well, but this is far more fun, promise.

  • Plus, the dev is a nice guy who just recently set up a forum for his users.

  • Navichord at that price is a complete no brainer.

@LFS Sorry to pester but any chance of Cubase IC Pro sale please?

    Hi,

Unfortunately the season sale does not include iC Pro this time.

    Thanks,
    Lars

  • I would say that the Fabfilter Limiter, Pro-L, is the one I love the most. It does a fantastic job of smoothing the edges on my final mixes. I have Final Touch as well, and I like Pro-L more. I'm not a pro by any means, but that difference I can hear.

As to the usefulness of all the plugins, to me, they're all cheap enough that I have simply picked them up, and seen how they work. You really can't make a judgement on something until you start to play with it, and try it in different situations. My issue is really understanding what's going on, so I can apply it with a lot more science than I currently possess. All that being said, most of the folks in here are hobbyists, and if you like to tinker with your sound and the entire recording process, then these are truly fantastic value plugins, to help you learn. The interfaces are very well designed, they come with a wonderful bunch of presets. You could not purchase all this on the desktop for anywhere near the price. For a couple of hundred Canadian for Auria and plugins, the cost of a couple of dinners out with the family, I'm set for a very long time.

Question: Do you get any use out of Drumagog?

  • @JohnnyGoodyear, it's got great drum sounds, which I use on occasion. I have made use of it's conversion stuff at times as well, but not hugely, not since I bought a pad that can send midi.

Question: Do you get any use out of Drumagog?

The question was not directed at me, but hey :)

I used to use it on all my tracks, when I did my own drum programming. It was especially useful for me when I went through a phase of using Impaktor to create beats, because I could replace the Impaktor sounds (which I didn't like) with Drumagog.

However since I tend to now use GB or Soft/Funk Drummer to create my drums, Drumagog is no longer an option because you need stems so that you can replace the individual drum sounds - it will not work when all the drums are on the same stereo track.

I think that 2-3 years ago the choice of drum apps was pretty sparse, and so Drumagog was pretty useful back then. Nowadays there are some great drum apps around that sound really good, so it's not quite the necessity that it once was.

Thanks. He usually puts all his apps on sale. Not this time. Could be more to come, though.

Thank you Rick and Richard both. I don't even remember buying it, but it sits there in The List and I sometimes wonder whether it holds some miraculous pixie dust I should be using. Sounds maybe that it was ahead of its time but is no longer etc.

We started a list while testing out the news feed we added last night over at http://5pin.link
Mostly just to test out if the roll worked OK, but thanks to you guys for the updates, it helped a lot.

I note you're swapping around the order of 'lower sale price' vs 'higher normal price'. On the other hand, consistency is over-rated.

Another one for me to study more. With these things, it's not so much a price issue for me. I don't care that it's so much less than the desktop as I wouldn't be able to justify the desktop version price. It's more a case of whether I would be able to understand the app and use it enough to warrant buying. So your comment directly relating to something I do know and use a lot, Final Touch, is useful.
