KRFT - new app from studio amplify

I know Noiz doesn't seem to get a lot of love around here but I'm consistently blown away by it each time I open it. I always end up generating things that I would have never done with a normal sequencer/piano roll approach. Really professional quality sounding synth under the hood too.

Just got a notification from the Noiz app that they have a new app called KRFT where you can create your own surfaces etc, basically what I hoped Noiz would be when it first came out. Just tried it out and I am not disappointed, sounds really great and had a bunch of loops on my own surface going in minutes. If you were a fan of Noiz I'd definitely check it out. I'm always looking for apps that find new innovative ways to make music and often I find that theres is a balance between randomness vs curation. I find KRFT strikes that balance perfectly because you can curate all your loops perfectly to how you want, but as you put them together on the fly theres no time to overthink it and end up making stuff you never thought of.

  • I found Noiz was too locked in but this looks much better :)

  • looks quite good, might give it a go. I guess no Link and audio import options though?

  • not many details about importing or exporting your own loops ?

  • it looks interesting. does it support iPad resolution? all the screensots are taken on a phone it seems

  • loops are triggered sequences
from what i've seen. it says somewhere also that sample import is coming uo in a future update. Anyway I'm really liking it and it's more or less what i was expecting. let's see what the future holds.

Hopefully they will put in full access to the synths...

  • OK thanks. not an immediate buy for me then

  • How many loops can you have going at once?

  • edited February 2017

i like it and if they add link and import etc etc.....but I can't get the sample loops to play, unless I'm doing something wrong...ah i see from the manual they will add sample import at some point

  • Surprisingly fun for killing time on buses etc me thinks

Here the developers answer questions about Link, IAA, Audiobus, and the importing of your own samples which are all in their plans for the app. They also are accepting ideas for feature requests as well.

  • Well it's 3 bucks so I said fuck it and bought it. It's basically Noiz without all the crap and more sounds. So plus one there. The interface is very easy to comprehend, nice and simple. Seems like you can have 8 instruments or drums total. Not bad. The real draw here is just being able to come up with stuff and not worry about where it goes in the song. You can just jam out with the shapes and experiment. So all in all pretty damn good. Also has some very nice Pad style scale locked keyboards and customizable chord mode. This should be fun. Even more so when they add all the other stuff.

  • I recall @KlaatuNinja posted a video as a beta tester.
I absolutely love the track he made. Reminds me of DotMelody.

Yeah, that was a little awkward... I'm a fan!

  • This is the version they made for the people who wanted sample import right, but it doesn't import yet is that correct?

    Perfect answer.

  • [Vibrates with anxiety....]

I've seen this before! This is the lovey-dovey stage of the app. Then the complaints and queries come in. It's on sale until late February! I should wait to hear all the problems that need to be ironed out! Right? But...it's so cheap, and I might get a seat on the A train back to Brooklyn and I could be entertained!

@ExAsperis99 Hey, buy the ticket, take the ride...(and I think if someone was selling you a ticket back to Brooklyn and they said, hey, it's Friday night, throw me a couple of extra shekels and I'll give you something you can lose your mind in, especially when we get stuck in that tunnel for an extra twenty minutes, you might think it's money well spent...)

Who am I kidding? Of course I'll get it. It does look fun.

  • ipad is also on the roadmap.

  • theres really not too much to it to be honest. It feels very simple and complete. I like that.

  • Hmmm...tempting....

  • How do you get sounds in/out - is it one of those email/iTunes things or does it have proper connectivity?

Not sure you can get sounds into it.

But you can record your performance and then output the wav via 'open in'.
