  • Oh, and to be relevant to the thread- I've used Dropbox free successfully for some time. I appreciate its integration with Auria & Gadget.

I'm not certain about your comments, they are not very clear. Please try again. You surely have to say something to this topic, so please be open and tell us what you think. I really don't know about it all, if that's what you're targeting at. I'm just an average guy.

I like Dropbox (scurries out of thread)...

  • Before the thread is closed , I think it's interesting to note that the poster
" wanted to do this years ago " , but decided it was in his own best interests ( to continue using a synth app ) to continue with the action he regarded as distasteful .

I suspect the target of his disdain , CR, would argue a similar " distasteful but necessary " defence.
So now after 3 years of appeasement , he can stick it to them & make sound fx on his iVCS synth app without using their server . Bravo . The struggle continues .

I post in the hope of offering the OP some perspective from outside his bubble on this,
so although I find his apparent hypocrisy distaseful , I will not be boycotting his posts because it may be in my interest to learn something technical or musical .
    yours , a fellow hypocrite .

  • Didn't realize Ted Nugent was a member here...

  • I have a paid dropbox account. It integrates with more apps and platforms than any other tool. I have no desire to use iCloud, and being further pulled into Apple - the only good reason to use iCloud would be to make it easier to transfer between devices.

As I said in the last lala thread:

"Sebastian, can you find a way to ban the illiterate morons who can't seem to figure out this is a forum about making music, predominantly on iOS, and not their personal toilet?"

It looks like we need a few more [Deleted User]s.

Hint - it's mainly the same idiots from the lala threads.

(hate to give this stupid thread yet another bump, but ...)

Or ... instead of asking our beloved host to babysit, you could just manage to ignore what you don't like?

very good post. I agree completely. I really am a coward and I don't take action when it is necessary. My comfort zone is more important than other issues. Very well observed and pointed out. My hypocrisy is indeed what it is, and it is distasteful.

My point is, as regrettable as it is, to finally, after years, remembering for what I stand for, remembering my principles, and do the right thing. What I think is the right thing to do. I can never be sure.

  • @Phil999 Thanks for taking my observation so well , I was a little worried about posting it.
yours in confused solidarity as how to act for the best .

Whether you like it or not, politics aren't welcome here.

This is the comment Sebastian wrote in the last political thread he had to close here:

    https://forum.audiob.us/discussion/17013/oh-oh-this-is-still-on-the-table-register-for-dissidents/p10

"No more of threse politically charged threads. This forum is about music and not about goading people with a different political viewpoint into some sort of reaction.

I've messaged the thread creator that this is not acceptable and I will take further steps if it happens again."

Now, I think it takes a very high level of illiteracy to argue that we all need to put up with political comments from illiterate morons which belong on FaceBag.

Stop crapping on this forum, and stop bumping this dumb thread.

I confess to being clueless up until about 2 minutes ago regarding the controversy.

I use it simply because it was the choice that integrated the most easily with my music making at the time (and still does).

Technically it works just fine for me, happy to hear of other proven options that have less "political baggage" though.

if iCloud or any other cloud service is "better" than Dropbox, I don't know. And I have to admit that I'm also very clueless about this topic. There is just a connection of this one person working for Dropbox whose name we don't want to mention here that drove me to delete my Dropbox account.

Some time ago someone on this forum advised me to delete my Dropbox account. I'm not sure, but my memory tells me it was LaLa, a member of this forum which is known for his political agitation. My answer was that I was aware of the controversy, but didn't see a fault in using Dropbox as a tool. But I wasn't comfortable in my statement, and spoke to myself that I'll have to think about it later.

Now that I found a way to work in my comfort zone (transferring iVCS3 presets using iCloud), I remembered this forum member's call, and acted accordingly. That's all. Which also means that I'm a coward. I feel ashamed.

What I also want to say: thank you all for being calm and reasonable in this discussion. Very appreciated.

I've backed away from this thread for fear of fanning flames.

I am open-minded and appreciate your detailed explanation of why you acted the way you did. No problems about someone acting according to their convictions and personal beliefs as long as it is not thrust upon me.

I neither support nor oppose your stance but I definitely like having more background on the company I am supporting with my $.

This sounds like s terribly wishy washy cop out but, hey, so be it.

Given the moderator's wish to let the topic be I'll leave it there and wish everyone the best for doing what we do best ... Making great music using whatever tools we see fit.
