I wonder if MIDI apps can modulate other MIDI apps inside Audiobus 3 and if they run always in serial or can they run parallel as well (which could be tricky of course with MIDI apps).
I also hope for drop and drag changing of the order of apps in general.
I hope we find out soon.

Interesting concept. If they're apps by the same developer I think that's doable. But it wouldn't be trivial.

Are you saying that it will NOT provide for the routing of, say, a note producing app into a chord app into an arpeggiator and out to a synth?

Oh that's possible. I was just thinking more along the way of apps telling other apps which scale they're in etc. That's possible too, but to make that work between apps of different developers we'd have to standardize that.

Pick a cc or even better use a NRPN's and leave the CC's for synths etc.., everyone use the same NRPN's....the normal method for this would be note in, but using NRPN means you can send just a keychange message and still have ability to use normal note in for playing notes(which you may want to add accidentals) .

I thought you was going to describe a magic trick lol.....Pick a CC...any CC....now show it to the audience..... :p

Thinking about this a bit more, notes is the way to do it really, send a regular triad and you have both key and scale info in the normal way, and a way that is instantly useable from a keyboard as well, if this were done on a dedicated 'Song control' virtual midi device and channel it wouldn't get in the way of normal note messages for sound generators.
You could then use any CC's you want on that channel to control things like swing or note length for arps, pattern numbers for apps like Patterning/Drum Perfect/beathawk as they will not get to the sound generators. Using CC's means you could also send those CC's from a regular controller as they usually have CC but not all have NRPN.
NRPN's would not be needed as the MIDI device is only used for key/song info and not for instrument control so using CC's would not affect any generators.
You could have that channel sent to from a 'Song control' midi plug in app where you can build your chord progressions and song structure very quickly

    AB3 Release date....

    :)

Maybe a bit mean, but i still think you should have said it was going to be tomorrow - 1st April :D

  • It's something special about the number 3 this year, Gadget 3, Cubasis 2.1 (2+1=3), Audiobus 3 released on the 3rd; now if Beatmaker 3 come on with it! Q2 starts on the 1st (the hourglass of anticipation is half-full, but, my belief is half-empty) Thank you Sebastian and crew for your hard work, can't wait :)

I think it may be a bit too much for her at the moment, she is still getting her head around the fact that you can play lots of different instruments on the same keyboard....although the has impressed me...while I was setting it up on the laptop for her, she watched me do it, I never explained anything to her at all just did it.

Yesterday I noticed she was in the MIDI settings checking that the LPK25 was selected as the input device
I am one proud as fuck Daddy :)

Congrats man. It's the same feeling I had when my dad learnt how to cast out his fishing line without tangling it. Shame he used to tangle it if he ever caught anything ;)

How is it that kids can lose remote controls like there is no tomorrow, yet their mobile phones never leave their sides?

  • One quick question, will Audiobus 3 be compatible with ios 9.3.2? I'm a little hesitant about updating to ios 10.3 for some strange reason. Thanks again.

No, Audiobus 3 requires iOS 10.2. It's safe to update though. We know of no issues that get introduced by iOS 10.

10.3 seems as good as 9 ever was but with the added benefit of some regained storage space for many. I regained nearly 4gb!

But is there a trailer video of AB3 somewhere to get an idea of what it's all about..

Must admit I do have AB and seldom use it...

10.3 Is in danger of being labeled one of the best iOS releases ever.

I'm struggling sending midi from modstep to step poly arp and back. Hopefully this is the type of thing audiobus 3 makes easy. ??
