There is a very finite amount of mondays in next week. So I think we have a confirmed date here: 3rd of April 2017.

Before my birthday on the 7th then :)

  • Monday is terrific. I just loaded some gift cards onto my account in advance. I'm just hoping that my HBO Now subscription doesn't jump the queue and steal $14.95 from the balance before AB3 drops.

No chance that the teaser video or any tutorials might leak early?

I even would like to have an Audiobus version for desktop.

Like midimux/studiomux but not a separate app and built into AudioBus itself? Like modstep has built-in midimux functionality?

    That's what I'm saying!!! :)

  • rocks back and forth hoping this thing will be idiot-proof

  • Midi learn for app switching is the only thing I am interested in. I gave up on ios and got back on mac for this reason.

  • TGIM!
My in depth research shows the app we're waiting for is "Hamsterlator" it's a Midi based effect that makes your notes fuzzy and scurry around randomly. Kind of like my guitar playing....

  • Yeah, what app is it we're waiting for? A new app or an update to an existing one?

    It's a new app. ... I think.

Sebastian I'm your guest, but I'm loosing some nerves working with audiobus 2.4...it's soo buggy I sometimes really hate it (not the concept, which is great) imini randomly changing place in pattern, so many freezings, glitches, neesd to restart app or ipad.. static noise from apps..oh boy..it really is modern take on music production in 1998 package.. hope it will be better with 3.0 or someone else be brave enough and pick up on this field

Maybe its on their side too, but come on..I was looking strangely intensive at my laptop today..and I don't want to go back..

I suspect that the culprit is not AB but iMini.

iMini does not play well in a context of multiple Inter-App-Audio apps (which is technology that Audiobus is forced to use as well). I recommend sticking with apps like Animooog, Nave or Audio Unit Extensions.

  • @Sebastian Since many apps sell midi capability as an add on, how does this jibe with your rule about not allowing AB to be part of an IAP? Presumably, an app can withhold a portion of AB3's abilities by not supporting midi until purchased.

This is a long-shot but we all know what 'Company'(Retronyms) is behind the iMini and iProphet port...
I sometimes do wonder if they really care about their own products enough to actually make them 'work'?!

I know it is Arturia who contracted them to do the ports but who is responsible for the 'quality' in the long-run?
(I mean apps that do not behave as expected are bad PR).

I know the rest of the mentioned companies apps have an 'Anti-AudioBus' mindset. Do we know why?
(Have they been 'approached' regarding the release of AB3?).

I've tried but reach them but I'm most likely on some kind of 'block-list' by now...

Good question. There's at least one app that will be usable as a MIDI controller in Audiobus 3 that charges for that capability outside of Audiobus 3 while making it available for free while used inside of Audiobus 3.

Since there aren't too many apps that resort to selling MIDI as an IAP, I don't think this is going to be a very big deal.

Ok, f imini..removed it from chain...Still getting no sound right now + kicking out of audiobus while i try to change anything.. its so frustrating, so buggy

I've got to say (and this may not be the case for yourself), that I find so many IAA app use cases to be broken. I don't believe it's AudioBus at fault, as the ones I get to work, always just work well. Problem is IAA seems broken in so many app hosts for certain apps, I just think it's a general mess out there in IAA land. Don't think there is much AudioBus can do about it to be honest.

So iaa and also link is broken..

I'm not sure about a difference between iaa and link, but it seems all my aps right now communicate via link within audiobus

    It's either host or language

I wonder if there's going to be a global panic button for AB3 Midi. There should be...

The irony is that out of all my synths, iMini has the best, most straightforward MIDI learn feature - and mapped to my old keyboard controller perfectly.

I've always been a big fan of the iProphet, but they are pretty much used only for recording loops in AudioShare nowadays. I would never use them as IAAs live....far too prone to crashing!

Yep, that's what we've found in our tests as well. AUX on the other hand are rock solid.

I can honestly say that I've never had an AUX crash up to this point!

    Thank you :)

@Sebastian so I can just use slide view to slide in the mixer page while on any app to do a quick volume change, mute or solo? Does this work for the Audio and Midi pages too?

  • @Sebastian also, do you know if any of the midi apps that are going to be available will use slide in too?
