Oh shit, guys. These are really good. Why didn't anyone say so?

So now I have to learn Auria back to front, huh. I don't suppose anyone has taken that Lynda.com tutorial have they?

    Please do. Summer school?

Skeuomorphic plugins are subjective. I came up learning on & using PortaStudios, Mackie mixers, Lexicon reverbs and, if lucky enough to be at some of my buddies cool project studios, older analog compressors & micpres. When I got into DAW's the familiar tape based workflow and virtual knobs & controls of the plugins and mixer made the transition easier.

Of course many iOS music production apps have been tremendous trailblazers, moving into innovative interfaces. But regardless of what style of GUI an app or plugin has the most important part is it's sound & function. If AuriaPro kept the original SSL influenced mixer look but had all the same upgrades it has now it would be just as essential.

Just my opinion, the PSP's appearance matters not when they sound as exceptional as they do...

  • Thanks General :)

Anytime my friend. I have been learning Fruity Loops and now and then find myself stuck ON THE MOST OBVIOUS MATTERS when all I want to do is make some music, but figure it out somehow and stumble on. It always reminds me of my kid poking at some new piece of hardware (could be anything, electric toothbrush, hand vac etc) and if he can't make it operate a wail soon comes from down the hall "....it's broken! Not working!..." :)

  • I've taken the Lynda tutorial. It's not very comprehensive though. Still fiddling around with midi currently. The tutorial was dedicated more towards audio sadly.

  • Anyone know if Addictive Pro Synth is working in AB to Auria Pro? Tried getting sound of it but nothing got thru. As IAA worked great. Anyone can try it please?

I am realizing how much I'm winging it on natural talent (ha!) and intuition. I'm getting to the point where I'm not just happy to curate a sound but actually want to create the sound I'm hearing in my head. For instance: I love what Volcano is doing to a drone I have in one track, but I don't want the effect on all the time. So then I need a send, right? Or another track that just automates the effect and leaves the original signal intact?

This kind of technical stuff was always the part in the making of records that I would leave the control room to the engineers and start playing Sega or ordering Chinese food....

Might dip into the Lynda tutorials. I'll do the free trial and watch as much as humanly possible.

You can automate the send directly in volcano, there is a level dial hidden at the bottom right of the volcano panel, just automate that.

FWIW I did watch the Lynda.com videos a few years ago, in 2013, and they're pretty basic.

To be fair, it took me literally years to find out about that hidden dial - someone on the forum told me about it in fact.

  • Guys latest AB update crashing AUria Pro a lot inside AB. Air 1 Latest anyone getting any issues?

Hidden dial? Are you referring to the In/Out Mix dials at bottom right? Or, something else that's hidden? If hidden, how to you expose it?

Yes, that one. I just didn't notice it for 3 years or so... I was always setting up Volcano on an AUX to run it in parallel, but there was no need, the mix dial does that for you.

Oh, heh! ;) I guess I caught it in one of the tutorials. Had the same experience learning of clicking on the stereo button to reveal the mid-side stuff.

Tiny controls for sure. I thought for a long time that it's because it was ported from the desktop to iOS, but after running the demo plugins in Logic, discovered they're just as tiny on the desktop too.

On a side note, do you ever worry that if Rim ever decided to stop supporting Auria, that all these pricey plugins we've bought, that are trapped only in Auria would be lost too?

Hasn't ever crossed my mind. I don't think he's going to stop though, he seems pretty committed from what I can see.

  • Based on his history and responsiveness, I can't see that happening any time soon.

  • Have I missed this sale? I just went to buy Microwarmer which was showing as $4.99, but I was asked to confirm 19.99GBP :-(. I thought maybe it would sort out the price after checkout, but because I only topped up 15.00, I was told I had insufficient funds (oh life's little taunts).

Certainly seems like it. It was supposed to go until the 1st.

  • They were listed a day ago for the regular prices, when I clicked buy, it came up as $4.99 for me. So I got Microwarmer, echo, and oldTimer! Can't wait to lay them on some of my tracks to see what they do! Maybe they'll make me sound good!?!?!? lol...

  • Today was payday, so I was finally able to take advantage of this sale. Opened Auria, went into the Store, and bought Microwarmer which showed its price as $4.99 -- then as I reflexively tapped the confirm pop-up, seeing the digits 4.99, I realized at the last moment that the popup said $14.99. Is there any way to tell what I was actually charged any sooner than the receipt which the App Store usually sends days after a purchase?

  • After that I investigated PSP Echo -- store price shows $4.99 but the confirm pop-up says $14.99. (I did NOT confirm the popup this time, obvs).

Soooooo, then.......you are not really sure how much you paid for it then huh? I don't think there is a way to tell before the receipt.

  • There's the pending charge which just showed up on my online bank ledger, but now I'm even more perplexed. I bought two things this morning: PSP Microwarmer ($4.99, possibly $14.99???) and Geoshred ($14.99). The iTunes charge that just appeared, though, is $38.08. And I haven't bought any other apps in the last 2 weeks. Hmmm.

  • edited March 2017

Look at your account info in iTunes to confirm how much you paid.

  • Yeah I was going to partake in some PSP goodness, but while the shows $4.99 price, the pop up confirm says £14.99

  • I was waiting till today as well. :(

Geoshred spring sale ended 3/14, so you paid full price for Geoshred and PSP Microwarmer.

  • just got the email receipt -- usually it takes longer than that. Microwarmer cost me $19.99! That's neither the list price in Auria Store nor the price in the confirmatory pop-up. I guess I'm gonna ask for a refund.

  • I wanted to buy those psp plugins today as well ... They said "till end of the month", no?
