I remember the fear and horror when AudioCopy changed hands to Retronyms.....
..IN BEFORE THE LOCK!!! HAHAHA!!!! ;-)
Seriously though...
I just looked back at my original purchases, and can see that FL Studio Mobile (original version) was the very first audio app I ever purchased for iOS. Followed by Garageband, MultiTrack DAW, Alchemy Synth Mobile Studio, and bismark bs-16i.
Of those first apps from the first days before Audiobus, I still have and use MultiTrack DAW and bismark bs-16i. :-)
I had an iPad 2, which put right around iOS 5 / iOS 6. I was a late iOS adopter, but my music making history with desktops went back to the early 1990s. I was searching for something more portable.![ ](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smiley.png)
This will seem like I'm pandering, but it happens to be the truth. The game changer for me was finding this forum and realizing the discussion was about iOS music making in general -- not just Audiobus.
I don't go as far back as you guys. I got into it some time in 2013. As I've stated before in one of those "first app" threads, it was Liine's Lemur that got me looking into things. Starting out, I was only thinking of using the iPad as a control surface.
I don't go as far back. But I remember a few years ago getting soundprism and being blown away by the fact I could jam out chord progressions by sliding my finger around my phone screen. That pretty much sold me.
I hate nostalgia... I don't go that far anyways... first music app I bought was in September 2014. Right at the beginning of audiobus 2 at the end of the dark ages in the iOS music world.
I remember getting an early iPod Touch (still use it) and finding ThumbJam.
I was amazed at it then and haven't changed my opinion.
IPad 3 for Loopy mainly. Audiobus to handle some inputs like garageband and grooveboxes (Dm1, Funkbox, Little Midi Machine...) and recording loops from Mainstage and Traktor. Also dealing with Samplr and Vidbox... Lemur...
With new mini4 and AUM all changed but after some madness I find myself working with the old workflow (few apps at the same time) to focus in one task. The game changer for me has been the novation ecosystem (blocs/launchpad/launchkeys), GTL (just amazing) and now I'm checking the Prime possibilities for backing tracks.
Not so far of the beggining but truly powerful nowadays...
I just remember this and will now base my whole iOS venture on it....So Funkin' What
yeah it's my birthday and I'm old, stupid and horny haha
Have a good one!
Thanks dude
I saw them at Guilfest 2004, my last festival in the UK before I moved to Oz.
Rolf Harris was also on the bill so there is that counterpoint ...
I think I started with Nanostudio on my 3GS iPhone. A while later I bought an iPad 2 specifically for iMS20, played with that and a few other early music apps before abandoning the iPad for a year.
Then I saw a video for Gadget, updated and dusted down the iPad, then discovered this new Audiobus thing which opened up the world, and have enjoyed years of awful noise making ever since.
Happy Birthday my friend. What a breakfast radio station you have. Sign me up now!
Angelic Upstarts next... or anything from the 'Oi era. Well done on still feeling horny mate.
Yeah whatever weird or nasty shit he got done for...I will admit I used to laugh at Rolfs music, but yeah (shrugs) what can ya say

I'm all for this thread!
Fond memories of how iOS music apps were edging closer and closer to pro level..
They were exciting days!
Downloading dopplerpad and thumb jam at 2 am in the snow using a libraries wifi lol on my 3GS, then nanostudio came out and we could acp stuff into it..and the very first version of xewton music studio...
Now we just take things for granted and it's not as exciting..because we have arrived at our destination lol
I don't get excited about synths anymore...sunrizer really was an exciting app at the time..
We truly need more sequencers that take advantage of the touch screen and not desktop attempts....
Keep it old school lol
And I got the ipad1 on the day it came out and installed ielectribe..Korg have always been ahead of the game..
Who remembers looptastic?? By soundtrends...
