I remember building my first iPad out of a cigar box and some baling wire.

    Uphill both ways.

    In a foot of snow.

    And we liked it!

  • And watching a film followed by a fish and chip supper and still having change from 1/2 a crown.....

  • Yessiree, let us travel back to the halcyon days of yesteryear...

The year was 2014, the dawn of golden age of the 9.4 inch Retina display. Wi‑Fi (802.11a/b/g/n) ruled the airwaves and WIST was king.

We danced to the swinging rhythms of the Tommy Dorsey Dubstep Gadgetstra and tuned in every Saturday night to stream episodes of the Little Orphan Appie podcast.

It was late November 2014, when young Ralphie tweeted @theRealSanta that all he wanted for Xmas was "an Official Korg Red Ryder Carbine-Action Two-Hundred-Shot Range Model nanoKEY Studio."

Santa tweeted back: "Are you crazy, kid? You'll shoot your iPad out!"

This will seem like I'm pandering, but it happens to be the truth. The game changer for me was finding this forum and realizing the discussion was about iOS music making in general -- not just Audiobus.

I don't go as far back as you guys. I got into it some time in 2013. As I've stated before in one of those "first app" threads, it was Liine's Lemur that got me looking into things. Starting out, I was only thinking of using the iPad as a control surface.

    that's exactly my experience

  • NanoStudio was what made me consider the iOS as something different and unique right after.

  • Hahahahahahahahahahahahaha @ thread title.

It didn't take long to go off track did it?

I imagine KRFT may have the same effect for a lot of people once it gets midi.

Yeah, KRFT is turning into a bit of a game changer. Having such hard working, and responsive devs make this one to watch.

Sorry you took it that way. That was not my intention. I was one of the first to respond and play along with your (first) OP. o:)

@jwmmakerofmusic it's just some good natured ball busting. Anytime you ask a question that isn't a straight technical yes or no, and especially one that waxes philosophical or hypothetical it may be answered with some irony, sarcasm, or God forbid humor.

You want to see a tough crowd, go over to the Les Paul Forums or any forum where vintage instrument winesniffer's congregate. They'll shred you FOR posting a YES or NO question or saying hello until you been a member half a year...

iOS music production has been in full bloom for a handful of years, really 5 is pushing it. I think that's a bit premature for nostalgia...either way I thought the thread was going fine. Be cool brother...

I'm sorry too mate. I've just been in a curmudgeony mood today and can't really put my finger as to "why". I guess because I usually come up with good music ideas in the morning, and I came up dry. These type of days suck.

    @JRSIV

    See above mate.

We all go through it. Maybe it's a good time to revisit that inspirational thread you started a while back. Maybe something will jostle loose.

You know what? That's good advice. :) I even have it bookmarked, so I totally Doryed on that, lol. Maybe I'll just work on a cover for next month's "Cover of the Month" thread? Got any suggestions/songs you wanna hear me cover?

@jwmmakerofmusic Brother no worries at all! That's the thing with this community, 99% of the people are cool & we all understand 'those days'.

Don't beat yourself up for a dry day...happens to us all. There was a really cool guy who came in during my recording tech class who taught us for a few weeks on composition, arrangement & theory and he said a block or dry spell is just your because the next great idea is still cooking in the oven.

    Be cool...
