Three ipads (mini, air1, 2017), three fresh installs, one unhappy face...![:( :(](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/frowning.png)
Tried audioshare on all three with basic 16bit 44khz samples in the 4 second range and nothing.
Yah, a real shame. Love the sound of csSpectral a ton but barely usable. He knows his signal processing like a muthableeper but app stability is certainly not a priority.
Just tried several more imports of varying lengths and doesn't miss a beat. They are 24 bit 3 - 15 secs
Just tried 24bit, no go. I take it you updated and didn't do a fresh install?
Yes, updated. Very odd behaviour. I'm (fairly) sure the good Dr will sort it out. eventually.
Thanks for the feedback Gus, think I'll give this a miss then.
@thinds @AudioGus Could you contact Dr B with a bug report? Thanks, here's his email: [email protected]
Reported the issues and a link to this tread on their FB page.
Update for Spectral is incoming too.
Possibly interested. I dig this kind of stuff, but how is this significantly different from apps like the excellent iDensity, Sparkle, or the effects mode of Fieldscaper and Moebius Lab?
Not sure about csGrain since I can't use it but for me csSpectal is the best of the bees knees with a very unique sound I love. not sure how to quantify it, probably subjective. If csSpectral does indeed get a working update one day i will be super happy
and use it tons! I used a vst called SpectralDecay ages ago that just got me hooked to the timbre.
Haven't got either, but from the few vids I've seen they do seem to have a unique sound I haven't heard from other fx
csSpectral, sound shaping like nothing on iOS
So, for those who can get both csSpectral AND csGrain to work, how are they different? And, if I decide to give it a whirl, should I wait to verify there's an update to csSpectral and get it? Or, get csGrain (provided AudioGus's app failures are not the norm)?
I'm not interested enough to buy both at this point.
Interested in CsSpectral for sure, I'll wait to hear about its new version tho
@skiphunt I think CsSpectral significantly improves on CsGrain , so I recommend waiting to see if CsSpectral gets an (edit! functioning )update & would then buy CsSpectral .
Thanks! Is it completely functional now as is? And if it doesn't get updated, will it be chopped by Apple when they kill 32bit apps?
@skiphunt I had audio glitch problems on Air2 , so stopped using , others said it worked for them .
Trouble with these cpu munching audiomangling apps is knowing when the glitch & crackle is what you've programmed , or your ipad complaining , or an audiobus bug .
Hence my "functioning " edit
I'd wait & watch for positive reports of alleged forthcoming update .
Yes , 32 bit warning currently so hopefully update solves both these issues .
(edit , but CsGrain not necessary if you have a working CsSpectral )
It is 32bit right now and IAA an AB is not functional in most cases i tried. If it does work at a certain point it breaks and requires a reboot. Direct audio in seems reliable if that is all you want but yah it won't survive the purge if left un-updated.
Thanks. I'll wait and see then. I don't have the iTunes credit right now anyway (waiting on another good eBay/iTunes sale)

Good info here mister. Like young Skip I'm interested in these, but looks like the best plan is to wait for a stable update to CSSpectral.
Money here waiting for you Mr Developer.
What I don't understand is why some developers release an update without doing some serious tests first. I'm not interested in this app anymore after reading about all the issues.![:( :(](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/frowning.png)
It's not great is it. Hopefully they'll pull their finger out, and a sale wouldn't go amiss either.
I hope so too and do not buy it until I'm sure it works well.
Update today seems to have resolved all the issues for me. Working flawlessly in input and effect slots.
Getting there! Updating the app didn't work for me but deleting it, rebooting and a fresh install did get AB2 and AB3 to work, so whoot!
IAA seems busted though so no AUM or Cubasis for me. Importing files from Audioshare works, provided you do not have funky characters like # in the filename, which I did before, so maybe it worked all along.
Dropbox import does not display any of my files (regardless of filename) but no big deal, I can use 'send to' from Audioshare now that I know not to use funky characters.
Interesting... both csGrain and csSpectral show up in AUM and Cubasis with the same name of 'filter' and in Cubasis they even share the same icon...
Note the the names/icons are fine in AB....
Maybe this has something to do with IAA being busted?
Anyway, really happy this is starting to work and totaly looking forward to csSpectral.![:) :)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
I can understand your current reticence as a result of the issues, but I'm very surprised you don't have a fully stocked Boulangerie.....would of thought his stuff would be all the way up your canal and out the other side...
@AudioGus thanks for taking the time with the follow up. I was inching toward buying this after I saw the update today, but it still sounds really messed up from your report. Think I'll hold off awhile longer and hopefully a solid csSpectral update will appear. Cheers![:) :)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
It is Boss but lack of updates, demos, and the fact it's twenty quid have held my horses. Plus I have a stable full of similar ponies. To be honest I'd forgotten about it, but revisiting the few demos and this thread have reminded me how unique it is.
I'm at a bit of a crossroads musically - the band I'm in are demanding more of my time, which I can't really give them as I have other commitments, and need to try and make some cash, somehow - the painting thing might replace my normal work - delivering pics for a big exhibition today...so.....may drop out of the band, but still need to scratch that musical itch. So maybe, if they update CSSpectral and don't break it, I'll dive in and get back to the soundscapes and cows. I'm too old to be strutting around a stage with a bass guitar anyhow.
Do you use this much? Any examples? Does it work in AUM AB?
I didn't know you painted?! Can you pm me a link to your work?
Your post rung true for me. I'm not in a band, nor do I play anything, but I do feel the need to move back into some of my core competencies, while keeping the audio itch scratched from time to time.
I'll likely get csSpectral if they update it with a rock solid versioin. These reports of what sounds like a very buggy csGrain give me pause though. Overall... on hold for the moment.
