Another question, apologies for the bombardment...is it possible to remove/uninstall the onboard sounds ? I may want to keep a single kit for standalone use but will mostly use this with MIDI out.
Loving this overall... but a few things:
Anyone else getting any of these issues?
haven't seen any way to remove the sounds. but the app itself is extremely small. and you can mute the master volume of the app.
It is the space that makes me want to do this, being on a 16Gb device means I have to be very select about which inbuilt samples I have on my device.
Midiflow should totaly handle the 'note to a channel' and then 'Link to Midi' for syncng Circuit.
I don't have MIDIFlow app, just the FX for AB3....I would have to use multiple splitters, is state saving working properly for the splitters ? I got stung by it not working for randomiser or Core Midi adapter after building quite a complex setup for doing this from ModStep......I really want to end up with MIDI as clock source, I know I can use Midi link sync, and i do when i am doing a performance (to myself as i cannot lock the doors to stop the family leaving the room LOL), but it is a bit fiddly when jamming and starting/stopping the midi a lot as it will get out of phase and need to swap to the app to get it back in phase.
The reason i want to have MIDI as clock source.....Circuit...so I can use the the tempo knob
If the MIDI sync in Future Drummer works fine then all is happy days on that front
Back burner for now
@AndyPlankton it's got the smallest footprint of all his drum apps. 121 MB vs 386 MB for SoftDrummer. MIDI out is worth it as well as the Jam feature especially if you don't have any of his other apps.
Thanks for the info, that is small enough to handle....I do have funk drummer so it is really the Jam direct to MIDI Out that is the selling point for me....just need some happy stories about MIDI sync now and I'm convinced
strange. what device are you on ? do you mean that ableton link doesn't work ?
The setup for the midi out mapping is a pain in the ass. The selectors for the notes are difficult to get the right note set. There appears to be only one setting, so if you have multiple target apps that each need different note mapping you'd have to set it up each time. State saving in AB3 doesn't work, so no help there.
I haven't experienced the problem of needing to set up midi note mapping each time the app is restarted though. Maybe that only happens if the app crashes.
MidiFlow remapping is probably a must in order to use the midi out practically with a number of other apps.
That said, I'm glad enough to have this app. It's worth it to break out of the rut I've gotten into with my Electronic Drum sequences, and the amount of time it takes to set up fills and variation.
Well. The default mapping is gm midi. I just switched ruismaker to gm midi and was ready to go instantly. Gadgets reciefe also accepts the mapping as is immediately.
Regarding the note config not saving, could you not just use the Transposer midi flow affect, and save the preset in AB3. Pretty sure Transposer has state saving?
I'm holding fire until the state saving is sorted.....then I'm letting loose..until then, back to what I was doing before....
That transposes all notes by semitones. It would need something that can transpose each note to an arbitrary target. This is something I hope very much @JohannesD is considering making.
I haven't been able to get any midi out of the app on my IPhone 6 Plus. I set up midiflow adapter as a midi input in AB3, set the midi out of Future Drummer to an MF adapter input and set Ruismaker as the midi out in AB3, but don't get anything. Is my setup wrong?
What about the splitter device?
I'm having the same problem. Looks like midi out isn't working when you select the adapter port
Seems like it might be a problem with ab3 midi. Even zMors port doesn't work through the adapter. For now I'm using modstep to route the midi.
Future drummer in AB3 audio input with Future Drummer set to its own Virtual out to
Midiflow input with Note mapping to
MidiFlow adapter in AB3 Midi input to
Ruismaker or Ruismaker FM in the AB3 Midi Output
Had fun for a couple hours and then went back to the internal kits and decided I liked that way a whole lot better.
But ... it works.
Any chance you could share the ab3 preset ?
Edit:- Never mind. I though you had managed to filter out each note to separate ruismakers. Ignore my request
I guess if it had sample import midi out issues would have a nice work around
but I digress
i agree with sample import being needed in this app. the sound selection is just a tad too small for electronic music. @LuisMartinez could we please get sample import ? more than any of your other apps this definitely needs it. i have tons of amazing sounds in audioshare. would very much like to use them in this brilliant app.
When I load FD in Aum, set Midi out to aum, it crashs every time, can someone confirm?
confirmed. For now inside aum set it to listen to FD's port. It works fine that way.
Yes, thanks
Lots of posts! Just caught up a little bit.
Tempted, but could someone tell me, is this only worth it if you want 'Rock Drums' or are there other styles like Funk, Dub, 'Latin' styles, Drum and Bass, House etc?
And does it create intelligent fills and variations like Garage Band or Luiz's apps?
It has what you seek Master 2K
Really. Cool. Thanks 'Gus. Gonna hit buy then....
I only just bought Future Drummer (brilliant). But I'm getting really into 'intelligent drum apps'.
Do you have FD?
Yes, I love sending it to NI Battery on my laptop.
