... it´s hard to avoid very muddy sound and details get lost fast if the algorithms are not so good.

AUM can definitely help here. With individual send amounts, filters on those sends and the ability to insert predelay (even if the target reverb app doesn't have it) can definitely help open things up. Plus, feedback loops. :)

I have to admit- Turnado kind of "hollowed-out" whatever I put thru it.

It's fantastic as an effects send though, to build up some mind blowing background textures.

It is but none of its individual effects are really stand out. The point is to use the effects en masse and modulate stuff. CPUs being what they are, it makes sense to me that they'd over optimize the individual algorithms so that you can run 8 at once with modulation and user interaction changing params smoothly.

I find some of it's effects categories to be a bit naff, but some of them (the delays and filters in particular) are capable of making really interesting and rich textures. I find them geared more towards interesting and expansive practical potential than being a 'functional' DAW style implementation of each type.

I love putting it on a bus from a vocal or lead instrument and having an interesting and moving stereo texture opening up in the background. In combination with the dictator and an expression pedal or other linear CC controller, it's very performative and intuitive.

Also an old thread but there are just too much about the same theme and this seems to be related the most and i don´t want to create more threads :)
There are some pretty nice FX for iOS but i still miss some things.
I was really happy when i saw today that "Lunar Lander" will be coming to iOS (and macOS, windows, linux) too at least when i can trust what the developers (PulsarNovation) write on facebook.
What is Lunar Lander? It is a derivate from my absolute favorite analog sounding software synth (even including hardware here as well) P900. It is a modular most similar to Model 15 but sounds way better in terms of analog power.
So not sure if and when the full modular comes to iOS or even windows since it is a mac and AU only synth.
So Lunar Lander is the analog delay, plate reverb and saturation/output module as FX plug-in (at least i hope it will be an AUv3 on iOS).
Do we have not enough delay and reverb and saturation on iOS? Maybe but if this sound as good as inside the P900 synth itself it will be my favorite analog delay and plate reverb from all and that includes all my iOS and desktop plug-ins.
Its bound to a specific flavor but here the sweet spot is unmatched for me and actually might also add a lot to the P900 full synth (but even dry it sounds just awesome and even a level or more above Repro, The Legend, Model D, Zeeon etc. for me).
Long talk, i cannot wait to see Lunar Lander landing on iOS as well.
Oh and then there is the saturation (it has 2 kinds of tube saturation as far as i know) which for me is the best sounding saturation and also most "musical" i heard in any synth.
Of course hard to say how that translate as pure FX version since it is polyphonic in the synth (maybe in the FX as well?).
However, it just sounds wonderful organic in the P900 synth.
This would be indeed another nail in the coffin to one day ditch my mac if this comes and the full P900 synth follows (which the chances getting better now).

  • Another BBD delay and a plate reverb? I’ve heard so many good things about P900, so I’m ready!

Yes but it is by far my favorite BBD delay and plate reverb and not forget the saturation. Yes, P900 is outstanding for me. Never heard such an organic sound with subtractive synthesis.
But like i said i don´t know how this translates to other sound sources since the sum of its all make P900 really special for me (OSC, envelopes, proper gain staging troughout the signal path and then the FX and saturation).
It also won´t replace my other reverbs and delays of course (maybe some) but for BBD delay and plate reverb it will do for me.
It is limited but what it does it does outstanding good. It really has a depth and organic sound to it which is hard to find.
I was surprised how well the plate reverb works from tiny added guitar like bodies, little rooms or outa space tails with a real sense of depth. Combined with the delay its an awesome FX section. Simple to use, not 1000 settings and LFOs and that fancy stuff but it just sounds superb for me like i´m drenched in high end hardware, lol. I still did not found a really good sounding plate reverb for iOS and also not a real great BBD delay.
But of course the goal is hopefully to bring the whole thing to iOS. Might be just my flavor but i do love the vibrant analog tones this thing can output. It react just so organic like an acoustic instrument and i wondered how versatile this can sound if you think that it is mainly just a subtractive synth. I heard better guitar sounds and brass out of it as any other subtractive synth.
I would be even more excited about this on iOS as Drambo (yes, sacrilege but i just adore the P900 sound).
At least i think that Lunar Lander will bring something i heard not yet on iOS (and even compared to my desktop tools) and that is a good thing for sure.
I will use it on mac and iOS for sure. Another good thing for me when i have the same tools on different platforms.
But who knows, maybe it sounds damn boring without the rest of P900 (but i doubt it).

    Looks good indeed as well!
Add Drambo as Fx too ;)
