After i had a look at all the available screenshots and with the coming AUv3 and whatever.....i really think i have to get an iPad Pro soon as another workstation.
I still miss a lot but the future looks bright so far on the iOS music production front ;)
This and NanoStudio 2 could be a perfect mobile and very powerful workstation.
Time to start a new Galaxyexplorer project.
Maybe i have to trade in some plug-ins for my new iOS set-up soon :#

I was considering the Pro 9.7 but after playing around with one for a bit I just went with the new 2017 iPad. At 2/3 the price it is a damn good deal and I really don't see much difference in the screens. That being said if the extra coin is not an issue, or if you need the 256gig or 12 inch screen, of course go for the Pro.

Since i´m used to larger productions and big layers with tons of FX and like to do crazy sound design i would def. want the best available cpu and RAM for a new iOS device. So only the 12.9" seems to have 4GB RAM (and USB 3.0 too i think while the small one has 2.0).
Of course i would wait now for the next one....hopefully in a few weeks and my biggest wish would be 3D touch since i think if iPad get that we will see more interesting MPE style apps like Animoog, Model 15 and especially i want something like Seaboard 5D with full editing (so something like the Roli Equator synth).
So i even could ditch my Seaboard Rise 25 maybe :)

Just bear in mind the larger screen consumes more resources, so benchmarks still give the edge to the 9.7 in that regard - I do wish for the USB 3 in the 9.7 tho

Maybe but when developers like Beepstreet says that intel cpu is too weak so Zeeon will be iOS only at the beginning i wonder if it´s just a curious statement or is there a bit truth in it.
Or does he used an old i3 or whatever?
Anyway i want to wait after the WWDC because i want to see if there is finally more "pro" in the software.

Heh, this is very true. That is why I like the iPad for sketching. i like to start on the ipad, then edit/arrange on PC, then bounce back some tracks to ipad for overdubs, processing, sample chopping, then go back to PC etc. I wouldn't want to work with only one of the two.

I feel the same. I also know that i won´t get the instruments and FX at least for some more years on iOS but like you said, it´s great for sketches and/or making some stems or as great midi controller.
I just recently thought about if i could have a one in all solution....means instrument, controller and editing on one device. But there is always a pro and contra.
I wish iOS would get drop and drag. These things are 100 times faster on a notebook.
But we live in a great time where i can get awesome tools from modern creative FX to software emulations which sounds like hardware (or at least close to it).
Back to BM3.....i wish it would have microtuning support too.
For some soundtrack things i would need microtuning support on all my tools and also especially synths.
I still wonder too if BM3 for macOS is still planned too (Intua said it once on twitter). It would be great as cross-platform tool like Gadget but in better :D

  • So here's a question for all you beta testers:

Could this potentially be a host for multi-layered Keys set-up? Like a pad, a Piano, a Rhodes, an ARP, etc... ?

I know the excitement is for samples/ beats, but I'm really looking for keys too.

Not too sure but there were some screenshots in April on the FB that looked interesting. The last one looks especially so...

(Hot tip: you can set up a facebook identity simply to subscribe to ios music groups and follow devs etc. without adding annoying real life 'friends'. My news feed is just all music.)

I want that same feeling..... I have been sacrificing chickens on this forum forever begging every dev to do what apparently it looks like intua have done with the grid... I'm not on the beta team but I hope the grid + sampling features +sequencing gives us something we can conjure a sample based monome-ish workflow out of

in addition to that the legato time stretched sampling feature that samu and alex are talking about sounds just like one the most important features in ableton that I've been dying for in iOS as well... things are sounding mighty crispy right about now.

Right? It's almost as if people are saying each bank can function as a keys patch with pitched samples and multiple samples for velocity layering...

mind blown, or I must have succumbed to the hype and am missing the facts. ;-)

Yah totaly, that is my take away too... but am I just hearing/seeing what I want?

  • has anybody asked intua if they would implement 'probability' into the sequencer.... cause I would sure love it if I could get a little bit of Patterning into BM3 or a little BM3 into Patterning?

  • what kind of independence do the sample layers have ?

  • Come to think of it, the multi-sample velocity stuff is probably already in BM2. I seem to remember Derek Buddemeyer working on some big BM2 sample set. I took a look at it and was too confused by the process of loading in custom patches and I gave up.

Here's to hoping BM3 makes the patch import/ sample import process more streamlined.

  • @kobamoto said:

The layers are quite independent for now meaning they have their own tuning, filter, amp modulations & mappings.
I'm slightly pushing for alternative layer-configurations making it easier to apply same modulators to all/selected layers or route multiple layers thru the same filter instead of each one having their own and other 'crazy' things to make life more fun, needless to say the discussions are very 'creative'!

The fun part here has been to find practical use-cases for all the ideas I've been feeding them :)

  • With @Samu on the beta team I guess it'll never get finished...
Just tell them it's totally fine and ready for release now. They can add that extra crazy advanced geek stuff in an update later. We want it now!

No worries, most of the crazier ideas are already postponed to future updates as far as I know :)
The main focus for the devs now is polishing the sequencer and ironing out some remaining nasties...

  • Any of u beta folks running this on ipad mini 4? My gear budget for the rest of the year is ate up by hardware loopers but i gotta get on this BM3 tip

What's the status of the iPhone version, will it be available at launch or will that come later? Heard some conflicting things about this online, so I was hoping you could clarify.

I'd like to know this as well, as I plan on dedicating an entire phone to this app if all goes well

Several times on the AB forum Intua has made it clear iPhone version will be developed after release of iPad version. I think any other statements have come from hype (not trying to deny the hype, let's just not misplace it)

I think T and I were after just that kind of clarification, it's understandable in all of the excitement to get a little dizzy but thanks for pointing that out.

There were a few mentions on other places online where I had seen supposed beta testers saying it was coming for iPhone sooner now, that's the only reason I wanted a clarification.

I wish that were the case. I am signed up for the beta so that I can test the iPhone version in particular when they are ready to start working on it. I have not seen or been notified of anything iPhone yet. I suspect they want to polish and perfect what they are currently working on, before adding the iPhone part--supposedly the app will be universal. So, I suspect that the iPhone version is a ways away after the initial release. That said, I suspect that it will mainly be gui work that has to be done, since the underlying architecture will be the same. :-)

The iPhone version will come after the iPad version is released. The UI being pretty modular it should take too long, part of it is already designed. Dev updates will be shared along with some screenshots as we work on it :-)
