  • Still doesn't fix the AU layout issues on iPhone. Grrrrrr.

  • The user and all related content has been deleted.
  • Well, midi-out is a game changer... Pattern mode comes alive sending midi pattern to BM2 (on different midi channels) opens a lot of possibilities...

    Great update..

  • Now I love this app even more :)

  • Can anyone load a drum kit in AUM on an iPhone? Maybe I'm doing something wrong... MIDI out is very nice so there's that.

  • This is such a thing unto itself. I have realized that the aspect I appreciate the most about BH (me, me, me) is the fact that it seems easier to write or put together different pieces (verse, chorus, change etc) in this app than most others. It helps get me over the 'perfect 16 bars, but now what' hump....the ability, so easily/quickly, to copy a pattern and keep mutating it in the context of the overall piece really helps....

That should be fixed in next AUM update.

Can you tell me a little bit more about your work flow?

Also, do you mean that pattern 1 sends on midi channel 1, pattern 2 on midi channel 2 etc (I just saw the midi out button, and didn't know you could send on different midi channels)?

  • Big improvement to the step editor, feels much more responsive now

By the way, is it not possible to copy and paste notes within the same pattern and pad?

It's possible. I had to hunt for it. In the pattern editor it's the last button (4th) on the left side. There you will find the to copy and paste.options.

Yea, but that's for copying notes from one pad's pattern to another isn't it? Or am i missing something?

It's for copying notes in the same pattern but it works in a strange way for me. In the piano roll editor for the pattern I select the notes to copy, press "copy" then move the notes out of the way before pasting because the paste puts the copy of the notes where they were originally. Maybe someone has a solution on how to select where to paste the copied notes?

  • How is Beathawk for linear non-pattern-based writing? Does it have a mode like Caustic where you can just play tempo rubato for however long you want in a linear piano roll? This is where I've been at lately and why I haven't touched Gadget in weeks and weeks

This. It's just such an organi workflow. One could easily do an entire album this way ... I settled for one song on one album, but hey, the potential is completely there. Easy as pie :sunglasses:

Nope. Unfortunately, it has limitations much like Gadget. If you have a little four bar rhythm you like, you can expand the pattern out to 16 bars and the original pattern duplicates itself. You can then play over the top, but only for those 16 bars. If you want to change the underlying drums mid solo, you have to adjust the midi in the current pattern, meaning you can't switch patterns while playing over the top. Hope that's clear.

At least you have the option of running it in Cubasis as an AU and doing whatever you want there (or AUM and another Link based sequencer on iPhone).

    Ohh that works!

Awesome. Thank you very much :)

Actually, pattern 1 can send out midi on 16 channel (I only tested a song with about 5 channels/pads)... each of the 16 pads are their own channels..

The idea with the pattern 'switching' is about playing/recording live..to me..

    Can I have a witness?

Browser, user library, exports is where you will find your songs. In browser you can see exports but not projects.
To access projects, use the menu, load project/kit. The exports menu with songs is not accessible this way. It's confusing at first but easy if you keep in mind:

    Songs - use browser
    projects, use menu

  • Do the choke groups work with midi out? I want to layer a bunch of melodies and then assign them all to the same choke group and see what's left

  • Yeah but I'm trying to take a BH2 song and drop it in cubasis

  • Ah, now I get it. Thanks a lot!

And yes, great update. Beathwawk's selling point for me is its great sounds and very easy work flow.

Let's say you imported as a midi file. Find your file, do the two finger touch to open the menu, select iCloud-export file, locations, to save it where you want. For example, you can save to dropbox and use open in to Cubasis.

  • The editor in BH is great but I also wish there was a way to copy and paste inside the pattern without actually having to move your original notes.

  • edited May 2017

Have any of you got it to send out midi CC's? I tried with Poison in AUM both as AU and IAA - the notes are comming through fine, but no CC's.

  • @NTKK yes, cc's work fine with Sunrizer standalone but not tried using AU or IAA.

  • Mine all Seem to be send on channel 1 from the different pads, is there a setting I am missing?

  • edited May 2017

Seems like one must 'chop' a file and save in AIFF format to get 'loops' in BH2..

    Edit... And... Acidized Wav files..

Is it cropping the GUI on your iPhone? Seems fixed on mine.
