I'm about to snag Ripplemaker as my first Bram Bos app, and I'm guessing it'll be the gateway drug to the rest of them.

Sounds quite likely. ”That’s how they get you!”

One thing I've noted from the videos for Ripplemaker is that the sequencer isn't exactly the same as the Troublemaker sequencer in that it doesn't seem to have the option for ties between notes?

You’re right. That’s a big difference. Not sure why Bram left it out of Ripple. Going from Ripple to Trouble, it actually felt like an improvement, but it can be a bit of a bummer for the majority of Trouble users getting Ripple and not getting this really neat feature.
Especially since Bram insists on AU Params instead of MIDI CC. Those ties do sound much smoother than what is usually achieved by MIDI CC, unless you apply some smoothing (which is usually not done by synth developers, sadly enough).

Like Troublemaker, I was able to buy and install on my iPad 3. Unfortunately neither can be used since the upper half of the GUI is missing.

Yeah, this is a bit of a pain for me as well. Apple decided to only allow a subset of the iOS9 devices to use the Audio Unit Extension system (iPad 2 and 3 don't). Unfortunately they don't give me any tools to exclude those unsupported devices in the Appstore.

All I can do as a dev is put a clear warning right at the top of the app description and hope people will read it...(I actually considered limiting Ripplemaker to iOS 10 for this reason, because it was leading to a considerable number of 1-star reviews in the Appstore of people who did not read it).

But I figured that would exclude too many users, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed people will read the app description... :#

Thank you very much for supporting iOS 9, haven't taken the iOS 10 plunge, glad that doesn't prevent me from making ripples ;)

Actually, it sounds like Ripple isn't receiving the slides. Used Trouble to drive an AU instance of Ripple through AB3’s MIDI section and couldn't hear the slides. Adding an AU instance of Trouble alongside Ripple does work. So it's a bit strange as the slides may not be straight MIDI yet Trouble AU can get the slides from Trouble standalone.

  • I was going to ask what you all were using to sequence this in AU mode. I've been using it strictly in IAA mode because the sequencer is so key to the sound (especially of Troublemaker). I was using Aleph Looper for a while, but find it frustrating that I have to be so careful how I name my songs so I can go back and locate my MIDI later. Did the AL/IL dev disappear? Has Infinite been updated with AB3 functionality? Maybe I should just start saving everything to .MID into Audioshare or Dropbox and use BM3 or something later on.

  • Wonderfull Instrument...
One Question, why no 'ties and slides' as there are on Troublemaker?
Ran Troublemaker midi out into Ripplemaker (AU) in AB3... and the results were more interesting with the slides and ties....

  • Ripplemaker sounds really good when run through some distortion like the ZhSh app.

  • Sounds great through frekvens too!

i want it now ! :) i have an 19H flight ahead of me next week.

I think I can really get lost in this... 19 hours will go by so fast into this app..

I tried making tunes on a flight once. The rumble made it impossible.

The only time I steal the wife's posh Bose thingies. Brilliant for this purpose.

    If I ever have a 19H flight (!) I will certainly invest.

  • On long (12+ hour) flights I really like having my noise cancelling headphones. Even without playing music or movies.. just having them on to reduce the fatiguing rumble in my ears helps me sleep and relax.

And for onboard movies they're pretty much essential.. ;)

  • I have some gold box cheapies, and they're still much better than nothing on a flight, as well as the gate, or the coffee shop for that matter.

  • I have the audio Technica noise cancelling buds and love them (travel a lot for work). Chose them over the Bose and Sony over-ear cans in trial run.

  • Wow, loving this totally, after beginning to digest the manual. I'm not sure how it'll play with preset surfers who don't particularly want to take on new concepts, but for me it feels like a whole new beautiful world to explore. B)

@brambos, two things I really miss: double-tap to return knobs to default settings, and more importantly, some kind of readout (a-la Phasemaker) to see the value of the current knob. The latter is really important for things like tuning oscillators, coordinating delay settings between instances, etc.

  • I'm having fun with this but it's badly showing up my complete lack of modular synth knowledge!

  • @brambos ripplemaker is not showing up in AB3. Tried restarting / re downloading. I'm using he latest AB3 beta. Troublemaker is working.

Try opening the main ripplemaker app before you look for it in the beta.

  • Sir Brambos -

A while back in this thread, someone posted the following. Any chance of an idiots guide as to how this is setup, 'cause I got lost and am probably not alone.

Ripplemaker. Use it in AB3 to seed arpeggiation which drives n# instances of AU synths...insert Midi randomize and assign AU FX on a per synth channel in audio view and record into Cubasis

Seconded. I went straight to the back of the class and put on the big white cap when I read that one....

I'll try and record a video of this— it's just about chaining everything together in Audiobus 3 and recording each instance of the AU Ripplemaker into Cubasis.

Oh, that would be appreciated. Even a series of screen grabs would get us dunces on the right track.

Absolutely. And big bright letters. And very slow. :)

  • No worries. Happy to share and spread the good word. B) Look for something later today.

  • Sometimes a missing 'space' can lead to unexpected search results :D

I'd pay for a coffee maker that had ripplemaker built it. so i can make coffee and make tunes AT THE SAME TIME D=
