Should be able to iPad to iPad then???? Getting excited:)
This is a bug in Audiobus 3. It does not do IDAM device to device, it just shows the network session from another device that is also running Audiobus 3 (but only via WiFi). Currently, that doesn't do anything and it has nothing to do with the cable connection between the two devices.
I am so confused now . Does it work between iOS devices ?
Currently not.
It only worked when I hooked the cables up. There wasnt a connection until I plugged them both in. Wifi had nothing to do with it.
er. how exactly did you plug in the devices to each other ? a usb hub ? i'm wondering if there is a portable alternative to my ica4+
It doesnt work anymore. I used a CCK and a iphone charger to create the link. When I did the option to import and export photos and videos popped. So the devices can talk to each other easily in IOS 11. What we can do with this communication has yet to be seen. I apologize for jumping the gun. I got exited as it was really testing it for the first time. I took the video down so I wont cause further confusion Im sorry guys. But there hope
Are there any updates on this? I've tried searching for a IDAM video but not found one yet.
Will the IDAM Audio connection be bi-directional with iOS11? If we can route things to and from mac to iOS and back it will be AWESOME!!! Could plug in several audio / midi interfaces in the mac, have them set up as an aggregate device and then feed audio to iOS for processing or MIDI to iOS for synths and then back into the mac and then out the audio interface(s).. wow!
nope, one stereo channel ios -> macos... thanks a bunch apple
It's not currently bi-directional. It's name has changed, acronym the same. IDAM is now Inter Device Audio and MIDI, where it was Inter Device Audio Mode before. So you get the iOS device as a Class-Compliant MIDI Device (this is the big exciting news). When IDAM is enabled you auto get 16 Channels of MIDI and the iOS device can be a MIDI host, or Receiver, as can the Mac. Requires iOS 11, but works back to El Captain on the Mac side. Midi is bi-directional. You can aggregate IDAM Audio devices - each is a 2 Ch. 44.1 24 bit connection. A single USB host will enumerate the IDAM connections of multiple iOS devices, so long as it's hosted by the Mac. (The audio stuff doesn't require iOS '11).
Since the above was announced at WWDC this year (followed by a demo of Fugue Machine, which was ((I think))) the only music app shown this year), I wouldn't expect any changes in IDAM functionality leading up to '11.
Thanks for that. It is a real shame it's still not bi-driectional and multi channel.
But I guess the wired MIDI is good news.. although can't you already do something similar via wifi? Of course,
wired connections are more reliable for stage use.
Ive heard about this, the big question for me is what OS would have to be running on the Mac? I'm still holding steady at 10.9.5 because....well everything works just fine and Im not ready to disrupt everything and throw everything into chaos at the moment, lol.
