I don't think this is going to make it into BASSacliious in the next update. In 3-years of having iOS apps on the app store, this is the first request we have gotten and it's hard to justify development costs to this feature, especially in liue of AUv3.

We have investors that we answer to and in order to invest in features, there has to be enough requests to justify the development costs.

  • I'm an investor too, bought all of your first Neo soul apps and bassalicous and the iPad is my favorite sound module for my hardware sequencers... mpcs and others so it's important for midi to go both ways so I hope it happens one day, I know allot of your customers would love to use your apps just like a motif with their mpcs etc...
and on top of that I was an alter boy at A.M.E . lol gimme a break

  • @kobomoto Bassalicious works perfectly as AUv3 in a host such as AB3/AUM and this way you get midi in/out without any problems. It also works perfectly with BM3 too including knob-automation and in a proper host you have as much Midi In/Out as you would ever need :)

    thanks for the reminder
at this point all devs should be sending royalty checks to kymatica , J-Lilla deserves to get paid.

And you're right J-Lilla has done a lot to troubleshoot and work around Apples sub-par IAA implementation.
I hope IAA 'gets forgotten' for good so we can look forward to AUv3's for real especially now that the 'UI size-limits' will be removed in iOS11...

  • @Samu Where did you hear that the UI size limit will be remove din iOS 11?

Apple mentioned it in one of the WWDC'17 seminars...
    (I'll link to it bellow).

  • Will this also be released for iPhone eventually?

    I agree completely

  • @Samu That's a good find. This will save so much time....But it's not quite there. The Host will determine whether or not to support the full window.

True but most hosts will most likely adapt once iOS11 is out.

Some AUv3's already scale quite nicely if the host gives them more room.
Worst case scenario is a vertically scrolling plug-in UI...

GarageBand is due for an update as well supporting the new features and it should be here when iOS11 is released for real.

  • @Samu The host will check the AUv3 to see it's preferred view. There is just a little bit of the top edge portion, so perhaps things can be reduced in size, but still be useable. Making a totally new AUv3 view is a headache!

@Samu i also hope that IAA would come to past, to much problems with IAA, AU is the way to go.

If you host Bassalicious in a host such as AUM you'll see it 'automagically' scales down quite nicely.
I feel that most of head-ache comes from using bitmapped graphics to be honest?!

Some developers have opted to create their own light-weight AUv3 host and build the app around that.
This way it's one code running either in the 'stand alone host app' or as a 'AUv3 Plug-In' in another host.

  • Loving NSK - and can't wait for the NSK Studio auv3 version.

May I ask the developer what kind of time frame can we expect for the release? Thank you.

Probably Around August 1 after the review time. Maybe sooner. We probably will submit July 25th.

It'll be amazing! Thanks for the support!
