@gdog @studs1966 @Zen210507 Thanks for all your efforts! I don't expect many will take up the mantle but there's no harm in asking more developers to join the cause. I'm sure quite a few must be getting curious about iOS like Audio Damage did, and Chris Damage mentioned in another thread that he's excited by how well Grind has been selling. There's room for growth.
@oat_phipps yes, isn't it? I've been enjoying stacked instances into eos 2 and now thinking about complex asymmetry with AUM buses...
Now me, seeing as my main genre is my own unique varied style of EDM, I decided to write Tailored Noise (aka the actual developers behind Sausage Fattener) to see if they'll convert that plugin into iOS Audio Unit. Cheers.![;) ;)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/wink.png)
Good one, that plug is so powerful!
Oh, that is nice!
This delay sounds great but seems to use a lot more processor power than RP-1
Using in Cubasis on iOS 11 is a bit intermittent ... it sounds like my old RE501 on a bad day.... which sounds kinda cool, but obviously needs some attention (yes I know iOS 11.... I’m taking one for the team). On 10... it’s sounding lovely and as expected!

I try to address everything you guys say, but I'm afraid I'm going to have to ask you for documentation on this one.![ ](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
Redo1 wrote ......""controls painfully small."". Start Dubstation 2 at first in standalone mode, and this action will solve the problem (half screen) at least on my Ipad Air 2.
I'm looking forward to putting this to use in combination with WOW and running my modified 'overtone' electric bass through it. Sadly it's too high processor usage to run in my hybrid setups (I dropped out AUFX:Push & Space in addition to RP-1 but I was still getting audio defects while with those 3 apps running in its place it ran fine) but in a dedicated effects processor setup should be pretty wicked.
Thanks Chris! Please continue
Really happy with all 4 (so far) of your wonderful creations right here, and Dubstation 2 is looking, sounding and handling beautifully on a 1st gen 12.9". iPhone SE too (in landscape mode!).
@Janie @gdog @studs1966 @Zen210507 @jwmmakerofmusic - just to update, I've had an encouraging no-timeline reply from SoundToys: "Thanks for writing in. As a fan of the iPad Pro for music production, I personally would love if we could get Soundtoys running on iOS. It's not something we're working on right now, but we definitely have our eyes on that platform and would like to get there eventually."
@Chris Randall
On my iPhone 5s it is not usable. I should not expect to use it on this phone I guess. I was frustrated because there is space to make it usable like I wanted. But instead half the screen is blank.
Ok so on my mini retina it is ok. Was having issues with the preset menu but is working better now.
I will continue and increase love for it.
(Now trying echopad and crystalline as comparison and much more enjoyable with full screen large text and controls so I will do more sound comparison and try to take the focus off the ui. But yeah tiny text on mini and difficult preset arrows and switches could be larger.)
To be fair on mini in portrait standalone it uses a quarter of the screen in landscape half. I can't be convinced that is good use of space.
@Chris Randall I love your iOS plugins! Have purchased them all so far.
I have been finding the preset forward/back icons to be quite fiddly on my iPhone 7+. I don't know if they are just a bit small for me but I seem to have to press them a number of times before I'm able to scroll to the next preset.

Fullscreen AUs will not be possible until iOS 11. Half-screen letterbox format is what Apple has given us from the start. If anyone, blame Apple, not @Chris Randall![;) ;)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/wink.png)
I love this Christmas once a week
Thanx Chris !
Liking this, but prefer RP-1, at this stage.
That's also my position. Dubstation definitely has some extra tricks up its sleeve, but it's significantly higher processor usage and the loss of additional utility that RP-1's mod section provides (for much less overall processor power) is thus far offsetting the needle towards RP-1.
As a stand alone Delay though, Dubstation would be exceptional. I'm happy to have purchased it and it sounds great, but it's not managed to displace RP-1 from my live setup.
>
Exactly. I'm happy to have both, but in most of my use at present RP-1 does it better.
Ok I understand the issue. Not blaming anyone just stating it is not as enjoyable to use as my other effects apps. Was having real problems switching presets last night. And reading the text from keyboard stand to eyes was not working either.
Can't wait for your full screen AUs @brambos!![;) ;)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/wink.png)
Sequencer in the AU?
I've discussed these issues in the other threads, but I'll touch on them here.
Regarding the presets, I know you guys aren't happy with them; I had essentially had these all made already before the first one came out. We're writing a new preset manager for Phosphor 2, which will get rolled in to all the previous releases when it is shown to be something that people don't complain about. (This brings up a common conversation we have around the ol' water cooler, about whether to have a preset manager in a simple plugin like this at all. People think they want it, but once they've had the product for a while and have learned it, they don't actually use it. They just go to the default state that best suits their musical style, and adjust from there.)
RE the full screen view, as I said, I already had these four more or less done when we released the first one, and I'm learning what you guys want as things progress. I don't want to fragment things too much; forking code for a platform-specific version is a big no-no in our business, for a number of reasons it would be boring to relate. But I am altering the standalone app (which is essentially a lightweight AUv3 host) to reflect some of the things that have been mentioned in these threads. For instance, it picks up an always-live settings button and internal clock for Phosphor 2, and all these changes will be rolled back in the other others as we update.
Just keep in mind that it has only been 2 weeks since the first one came out, and we've released four all told in that time, and during that time period I've been working on the fifth one almost exclusively. It's not magic. It's me on my couch hitting a keyboard. :-)
I hear ya! That's a pretty amazing release schedule. Thanks for bringing them across to iOS.
Thinking out loud: how important is the standalone? So much foolishness could be avoided if we only had an AUv3. Speaking strictly for my own understanding of how music is made, linking up half a dozen IAA apps is in no way a realistic way to operate a production environment. The various AUv3 hosting mechanisms are far better for this sort of behavior (e.g. AudioBus 3, AUM, etc.)
Is there a poll anyone has conducted recently? Because if this is anything like desktop land, when I see a lot of complaints about a particular platform, they are generally a very small portion of the actual userbase. I'm curious as to whether AUv3 has really taken over yet.
Personally, I don't need IAA for single-fx as I always chain them in a host. I do like the standalone option for big multi-fx, synths and sequencers however as developers have more control over the UI.
Some couch!
@Chris Randall For what it's worth, I almost never use a standalone version of an app that has AUv3. I avoid IAA like the plague.
By the way, loving these Audio Damage apps! Thank you so much for bringing them to iOS!
@Chris Randall
It is impressive what you've accomplished in that time. Understood that it is the first version AND they do function well.
I use fx apps with my hardware keyboard and so often do just use one standalone full screen app. I prefer it to the windowed AU view. I just switch from app to app (if more like a reverb and delay and distort etc) using the AUM icon in each, to return to aum then tap on app. I like having the fullscreen for each. I find the UIs to be more solid? and simple to use and this is a big plus for me. Big legible easy to manipulate UIs is one of my favorite things.
As examples...Crystalline and EchoPad. I will be using those for now. All of the Holderness apps now have great UIs imo.
Yeah, that was my feeling as well. I can definitely see the worth of standalone synths, and stuff like Flux:FX. But I don't really see it in these small send effects.
On an iPhone 6S, which is not a tiny phone, I find the text is unreadable. Have lots of other apps that I can read. I understand that the space is reduced for AU plugins but still.
Haven't purchased any of the other apps because of this, they would just be unusable, again, for me.
Agreed - typically use AB or AUM as a host
