I feel that AU is better 99% if the time for iPad, but I do actually tend to favour IAA on iPhone. Much more comfortable to jam out on a full screen interface, when the screen is so small. That said, I wouldn't lose any sleep if IAA wasn't supported.
Best to stick with AU development especially as full screen AU is coming along with midi sending support, easier for the developer to concentrate on that and future proof too.![:) :)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
I can't think of any time I would use standalone for FX like these. AU is always my preference, except in a few cases like troublemaker and ripplemaker, where there's a built in sequencer that's attractive enough. I will use IAA when I have to, but don't like to.
Here is my demo for the Dubstation 2, this is such a good effect and from such a good company..very nice

Automating the Dubstation 2 AUv3 Plug-In works quite nicely in the upcoming BM3![:) :)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
(Personally I prefer to draw the automation but recoding using the Plug-In UI works too).
I never use stand alone for anything. AUV3 is the way. And with iOS 11 full screen and MIDI out will take things to the perfect level
Hey, all:
Just a quick update to let you know I was working on turning our shitty preset manager in to a not-so-shitty one all day, and I made some good headway. I got the App Groups working so the standalone and AUv3 work from a common folder (if you're on the JUCE forums, you'll note how one of the Roli employees sent me on a wild goose chase, but I got it sorted) plus I made it much bigger, with iOS-friendly tabbing and suchlike.
The only thing left to do is make it so you can name and delete the user presets and then I can roll this in to all our iOS stuff. It's actually good enough that I may roll it in to the desktop ones as well. I'm pretty happy with it. Here's a screenshot of the Grind AUv3 with it. I still need to update the main UI of Grind to take its existence in to account. Note that the factory presets also show up in the AU preset managers for hosts that have such, and the factory presets can be selected that way. I did it basically exactly how Bram does it, where only the factory presets show up in that list. Adding the User presets to the AU dropdown would probably be an exercise in frustration.
Anyhow, that's where we're at. Hopefully I'll have this done and in Testflight tomorrow, and updating the App Store versions a couple days later. Thanks for being patient!![](https://forum.audiob.us/uploads/editor/x0/znapdi7wl10l.png)
Terrific stuff, thank you
Well done that man. Good couch progress.
Magic.
Okay. I've pushed that update for Grind, and it is waiting for review. As soon as it is accepted, I will add the same preset manager to the others. One caveat: you still can't name a saved preset in an AUv3. This is due to a bug in JUCE, and is not in our control. (I actually came up with a really brutal hack that worked, but it was super hacky.)
I was talking about this on the JUCE forums, and the lead iOS developer responded with this:
So as soon as they roll it in to JUCE, I'll update it so you can name presets in the AUv3. For now, the work-around is to save your preset in the AUv3, then go to the standalone version where you can load it, delete the "User Preset 3" or whatever, and then re-save it with a name.
Anyhow, this should be in Grind by Wednesday, and the rest by early next week.
Awesome update/work and really appreciate the extra details etc.
+1
I've just realized that @Chris Randall was responsible for scanning and uploading the Roland Synthesizer books from the 70s. For which many thanks. Also loving the plugins obviously.
Big Thanks @Chris Randall
