  • I was getting ready to post this.
    Universal!

  • Bam, Lorentz on my phone.

Now, we wait....is upgrademageddon done, or does Cassini get the 2.0 treatment?....

    2 points. Great word. :)

Fucking yes. Been waiting for this! In fact .. I actually sold my Mini2 and bought a Mini4 yesterday specifically so that I could (prospectively) run Lorentz without having to drop anything else from my live rig. Perfect timing!

Although I've tried very hard with Redshrike, Lorentz is the only Icegear synth (which I own) that I've ever truly connected with. I've been waiting for State Saving for a loooooong time. The rest is a happy bonus!

I'm gonna support your emotional exclaiming, because the update is really awesome.

  • One of my favourite little synths, this.

  • Oh god, it's so good.

  • @Samu can you move all those faders and record that to a BM3 automation lane, without having to set up any mapping first? Do you first have to tell BM3 which parameter you want to record (I guess you do)?

  • Lorentz and Mood are a great compliment for each other sound wise.

  • Hooray! Love this synth.

    Same question.

I'm using Lorentz & Viking in my live rig. Same kinda things, just a different flavour of Moog emulation.

Yeah Viking lived on many of my AUM saves until I rebooted my iPad a couple of weeks back

    It's a constant for me

You can just grab a knob or slider and do your thing when automation and recording is enabled.
But to be honest I prefer to draw my automation :)

Have never used Lorentz much but it does sound good. For my sins I have not used AB3 Midi much and would be grateful if you could tell me how you have the other apps connected in this screenshot or just post a screenshot of the audio lanes if that's easier....as a n00b I don't understand the difference/benefits of connecting Xynth and Lorentz here rather than in the audio side as (was) usual. Thanks for your learning :)

  • @OscarSouth Think I managed to figure it out... :)

  • I don't regret buying the icegear apps earlier. These things are a blast :D just need more CPU so looking forward to grabbing a newer pro. Any 10.5/new 12.9 pro users tried to see how many Laplace or lorentz instances it takes to hit 100% ?

  • This is what I had on the audio side:

I was just using blocs for quick beats

However, I like your version better..

  • @OscarSouth Hmm that's interesting, thank you. Again, full disclosure, I rarely use the multi lanes (what is the opposite of power user?) as I find them confusing :)

OF COURSE this worked perfectly first time, but then I went away and decided to try some other effects, but NOW I'm getting no sound out of Xynth. Rebooted, cleared session, retried etc. No dice. Getting this message at the top of the Xynth screen as regards Audiobus and cannot select Lorentz as I did the first time.

    Sigh.

No doubt oblique use error, but this is precisely the thing (the time going by) which puts me off :)

@JohnnyGoodyear: you shouldn't have to go into the MIDI settings to troubleshoot the AB3 MIDI setup. When I don't get sound, it's usually because I don't have the audio lanes in AB3 set up correctly. Setting up a MIDI output should generate an audio lane automatically, but if you have mucked about with the audio lanes, you might have inadvertently bumped something?

  • edited July 2017

@JohnnyGoodyear Your sound engine is off in the settings (third row down). Usually adding a midi sender in AB3 disables the sound engine of the app by default but I'm glad Xynth allows it because it sounds so good. :)

You'll also need to add xynth to an Audio lane if it's not already there etc.

Yes, for someone who comes from a non-midi background, the visual cues of the midi lanes in AB3 are counterintuitive to me. Time — at least in my pea brain — travels left to right. The guitar starts on the left and goes into the recorder, on the right. So when I see Xynth on the left, it makes me stop and think. I get that Xynth is telling Lorentz what to play, but the NOTES are RECORDED in Xynthesizr and so....[wisp of smoke escapes from ears....]

Anyway, @JohnnyGoodyear it seems that you're just using the audio lanes of AB3, right? So you would have to configure the midi in Xynthesizr to drive Lorentz, no?

The last sentence is the key one!

  • Sweet! Once KASPAR is released my July will be complete :)

After more playing with Lorentz I've just got to add.. its by far my favourite synth on any platform. I've never heard anything so warm and organic come out of a digital machine. After running it through my markbass head and Eden 2x10 cab .. OOooohhhhhh!!!

With a super smooth omnipresent Viking bass underneath, I can't even handle it. It's too much.
