Looks like could be only 50 more days left for Soundcloud!

I think I will consider Bandcamp, for which I already have profiles for my solo stuff and collabs with Doug Woods but Youtube also seems a good idea now it is easier to get some form of reasonably interesting video together.

Reverb Nation is definitely a no go for me. I did try it and posted some tracks a while back but got so fed up of spam type emails inviting me to take part in competitions and submit tracks to dodgy sounding stations that I left. I don't think I even got a single play for any of my tracks even though Reverb Nation told me that one of them was at number one in the chart for my local area!

@AlterEgo_UK Colin you are 100% right about Reverb Nation, they will constantly send emails with invites to songwriting contests, workshops, this that the other, etc. Wouldn't be so bad to hear about opportunities but everything they send costs money to get involved in..."record label wants to hear your music" pops up, you go through links & stuff to get info, send $100 for each song submitted....righhht.

I've spam filtered most of it so it's not too bad for a free place to post music & refer people to.
I wish WordPress would have a better utility for audio, my website is built on a WordPress blog and putting music up even if you purchase the one of the membership levels is brutal.

YouTube is the easiest way to get music on a WordPress, and of course most blogs and forums support YouTube share links. But to me YouTube (as a video first platform) is a bit weird to listen to music on...unless you have the talent of some of the guys here to make custom video accompanying your track it's stick a static pic of album art or something on it and hope listeners short attention span are longer than the average pigeon on crystal meth.

  • Word on the street is that everything is gonna be fine

  • The thing is, if you can make a video of yourself playing, it gets more views than just putting up an audio link. People find it way more interesting. That being said, and awful lot of folks here don't actually play an instrument in their pieces, so not sure what they'd do.

I know some apps that you can use as an alternative for SoundCloud such as Scdownloader.online, Bandicamp
    and ReverbNation.
