Yeah, I should've just suggested him Googling the reference. ;)

To get back on track though... I love Magellan's sound, and I'm impressed with LayR's capabilities (though I can't get anywhere near the genius of @Brice 's presets with it) and I'm a longtime fan of Mitosynth as well as Grain Science which can morph sample layers together. Then there's the brilliant new Synthscaper that I'm loving as well.

What does KASPAR bring to party that I don't already have at this point?

I know what the movie is silly!

NOW IT IS EVEN MORE FUNNY YOU EXPLAINING TO ME WHAT IT IS!

    OMG

    I love to laugh.

And just like that, the struggle has ended to find an appropriate name for this obscene preset I'm cooking in KASPAR ;)

    GREAT IDEA

FOR ALL YOU WHO ENJOY TIME AWAY IN RURAL GEORGIA AS IN THIS THREAD LETS DO A KASPAR DELIVERANCE PRESET CHALLENGE!

Each person make a DELIVERANCE INSPRIRED KASPAR PRESET PATCH!

THEN WE SHARE LISTEN AND YOU BETTER PRAY GOOD!

I would like to, but I don't have Kaspar.
However, I do have Dickey's first guitar.
This is true (I spent a lot of time talking books with him when I was in college) It is a flashy Framus acoustic. Big Jim ignored his guitar playing friend's advice to buy a used Martin, and went for the cool looking, but not so great sounding, Framus. Big Jim eventually did acquire a number of Martins.
He really was a larger-than-life figure.

    You planning on getting it?

I think it is a deal.

    I gotta tell you.

    SynthScaper
    LayR
    Kaspar
    Animoog
    Ripplemaker

Don't see a need for another synth again for me.

Granted I will use a DRC or another once and a while.

But these next gen multi synth monsters are hitting the sweet spot for me like I have waited to happen on ios.

    Then the Audio Damage Fx.

    I feel touched.................

    Waitwut

I just remembered that I do have a Deliverance inspired track somewhere in all of this clutter. I recorded it 27 or 28 years ago using a SK-1 and a couple of jam boxes. This masterpiece was called "Cornhole Lotta Love" and obviously it used the banjo lick, pig noises, and my Gibby Haynes inspired delivery of appropriately rewritten version of Plant's lyrics. I attributed the production to "Eddie Kreamer" and the publishing to "Swinesong" It made a nice little cassette gift for my friends. If I do run across my master tape, I really should upload it.

    "Cornhole Lotta Love" lol

    Another good preset name. ;)

I was shoved to the floor by Gibby at Liberty Lunch. It was an accident, as I think he was in a hurry to get to the bathroom on a smack run.

He apologized, but I didn't care. I was honored to be body slammed by THE Butthole Surfer himself! :)

    Excellent!
I know exactly what you mean.
I was once yelled at by John Cale and felt honored. The man has yelled at so many people I respect and admire. Of course, I also respect and admire Mr Cale.

Haha....I'd probably, maybe, definitely hold off on purchasing if based on that!

This app shares a lot of similarities with LayR for sure, but they do a lot of things differently. I haven't spent a whole lot of time with KASPAR but it seems there is a lot to like about it so far; particularly the effects department and the arpeggiator. Going to dig deeper soon and see what comes out!

    I like it!

If I could wish for a few additional features they would be 'cross modulation' and a step-modulator/sequencer as an additional modulation source.

Sure it's quite a CPU hog but I'll manage with my Air 2 for quite some time to come...

Glad to hear that, I was kinda on the fence with it , Im on an Air 2 as well and heard people were having performance issues with it, I might check it out now.

Please drop me a note when you do! I'm holding off for now I think, but I'm definitely intrigued.

LayR is incredible, but I don't have a clue what kind of sorcery you're using to coax the kinds of sounds you get out of it in the presets.

Added one of your preset sounds to a short plotagraph on instagram yesterday, but went through all your new cinematic presets to check the final versions out. Incredible. I've said it before and I'll say it again, LayR is an impressive app for sure, but for just your's and RedSky's presets, without even bothering to try and craft my own sounds at all.. it's worth the price of the app for those alone. :)

    I definitely will!

RE: LayR....no sorcery, or at least minimal amounts. Mainly just a lot of late nights and headphones that don't suck. I think a lot of it is holding the app to its name and really pushing the amount of layers involved. Same holds true for this KASPAR app. For instance, in LayR, if you look at my Arp preset called "further inside"....there are 27 oscillators involved! 13 of which are dedicated just to the bassline synth. Of course, you can come away with some intriguing stuff with just one or two oscillators. And 2 detuned saw waves DO sound great. But 24 detuned saw waves sound astonishing, and sometimes terrifying. So I think a lot of it has to do with that; building up multi-layer sounds. It is after all a fairly simplistic subtractive synthesizer. But its weapon I think is the ability to combine nearly hundreds of subtractive synthesizers spread across your keyboard. That and its arpeggiator holds some magic as well. KASPAR has a lot of those same tricks, so I am anxious to see what it can do.

Your Instagram video is awesome. Flattered you chose that music to pair with it, and that you're enjoying the presets!

  • loving this on ipad, are there plans to have it universal on iphone soon?

Would love to hear what you could do with this app, in the cinematic style you did with Layr. I don't have Layr but tried a few of your presets on a mates iPad, and they really bring the app to life. Be interesting to see if this app could do the same in your hands.

Thank God I ignored the army of users complaining of poor presets and questionable sound quality. I'm having a ball with this synth and have created some great sounding patches. Workflow is great as you can copy layers withing a patch or paste in from other presets and there is so much power to explore. Having said that I stripped it right back to the init patch and created some great sounding stuff with just one oscillator. It is awesome piped into BM3. Top stuff :)

Hey how does kaspar compare to isem?

Nobody is saying what type of sounds it is actually good for, so just wondering.

LayR and Kaspar have proverbally shut shit down in the vortex I call my creative place.

I have disconnected from the matrix and on some really cool shit.

OMG!!! LayR! Between that and KASPAR I don’t have to leave the house again.... ever.
