KRFT 1.6 out now with Transform Cells & more!

Hey guys! Happy to say KRFT 1.6 is now available to download. I've made a little video showing the new features =>

Check out the full release notes below:

** Transform Cells **
- An amazing new way to explore musical ideas, the Transform Cell takes a Timeline and transforms its notes in real time.
- The transforms available are Note Repeat, Arpeggiate, Rhythmize, Harmonize, Beat Repeat, Quantize, Reverse, Invert, Rotate, Random Key & Random Time
- Apply the same transform to multiple timelines and combine multiple transform cells for wild results!

** Sync: Step **
- Setting a timelines sync to "step" will make a timeline start from the next note in its sequence.
- Use this with the hold interaction to step through a melody or drum beat with every tap.

** Cell => Explode **
- The new explode function allows you to split an existing timeline into multiple cells.
- You can split a timeline either using a slice length or per key.
- Use this function to split out a drum kit into its individual parts or to easily create a keyboard.

** Matrix 2.0 **
- Now you can multi-select notes. Just long hold on the matrix and then drag over notes to select them.
- Selections can be moved, deleted, resized, copied & pasted - even into other loops.
- You can also apply transforms to these selections, such as invert, reverse, humanize and more!
- Added an undo button!

** Save user presets **
- Now you can save your user presets and use them across your projects.

** Minor Improvements **
- Added 4 new scales => Major Blues, Minor Blues, Whole Tone, Klezmer
- Added INIT patch for bass and lead synths
- Added noise param on synth engine
- Improved menu speeds
- UI Improvements
- Bug Fixes :)

Enjoy!
Alex

  • Woo hoo! So much to love here. Congrats.

  • Put the price up, you're underselling your app.

  • Brilliant, thanks Alex.

  • AMAZING ADDITIONS !!!!!!!!!
Thank you for such creative tools!

  • Yep - the transform function is especially good.

It's a serious bargain for what the app can do already, new features sound very useful. Hope this sells enough copies to keep the updates flowing.

  • This app is unique. There are many apps that have a high inspiration factor. KRFT is among them. What makes it different, is that you actually want to listen to the inspirational sketches hours and even days later.

  • @Alex fox Great video to accompany the release! Really showcases the new features in a succinct and helpful way.

  • Loving this app and reminds me consistently why i spend my time in other apps when I can simply make music here with so much ease and fun!

  • Great stuff, love the new features :)

    +1

Honestly, it kind of makes me angry and a little sick to my stomach that this dev is forced to sell this incredible app at such a low rate. This is easily a $20 app and the amount of time this dev spends with support and advancing/improving the app is incomparable. KRFT is stabile, innovative, unique, and well designed.

    Yet, underpriced, undervalued, underrated. Pity.

I think the curse is that they've done such a brilliant job making an extremely complex app, intuitive and nearly "toy like" in appearance, that users can't see the real genius here.

If you don't have this app yet, you should really grab this now. You'll feel guilty for paying so little for it, but you'll see what I mean once you spend time exploring just how impressive this work is.

  • Agree with @skiphunt! These guys have worked hard to build a powerhouse app for ridiculously small coin.

  • @JohnnyGoodyear the piano roll has been updated with your requests... And an undo button!

  • Updated my App Store review :)

  • What's the difference between reverse and invert ?

Reverse is front to back. Invert is top to bottom

    Thanks :)

  • It is a great inspirational app. Cant fathom how to control an AU app tho:

Control any iOS supported AU unit e.g. Poison-202

It doesnt seem to host AU's? Presume you would host the AU in AUM then control?

I've used KRFT with excellent results as a multi-channel midi controller, both via core midi, and AB3...in AB3 you can host your AU and IAA instruments, and KRFT can sequence both...along with sending CC messages to those instruments

  • The user and all related content has been deleted.
  • Thanks guys for confirming. I keep forgetting about KRFT when searching for a multiple AU sequencer. KRFT controlling BM3 automating AU's would be fun! I'll let someone else master that one I think!

  • That's my goal too! For now I'll just have fun creating in my favorite app: KRFT.

  • Quality app. Every iPad should have one.

It's pretty easy to connect to AUs via AB3 or AUM, but I am hoping that we can host AUs in KRFT natively at some point. Now that we've got transforms natively in KRFT I don't really need the AB3 MIDI filters. How liberating it would be to open one app when I'm on the go!

The other thing that would take the cake is being able to hook up a MIDI controller to record loops. Sometimes tapping on glass just doesn't quite cut it.

But, heck, enough asking for the sky and beyond... This is a fantastic update, @Alex fox!

  • I bought this early on as a toy that I assumed would only make edm, but I'll be damned if you aren't forcing yourself into even my idiosyncratic workflow. Congrats. Great stuff.

  • Fantastic update - thank you :)

  • Super update,
    & +1 on midi in,
    thx
