Updated review
@Alex fox Thanks for the update! KRFT really is unique. It's simple enough for complete novices to muck around with, but offers a lot of depth for advanced usage in an improvisation / performance context.
One thing: Please, please, please include MIDI file import at some point! (I'd happily pay an IAP for it).
Even with MIDI in, I'm sure I will still be doing my main sequencing in ModStep (at least for the time being, at your rate of development, who knows?!), but I would love to be able to export a clip from ModStep and load it into KRFT to do a performance explosion / transformation!
I'm very excited by the performance potential of KRFT; the only thing that has kept me from using it more is that I would have to recreate my sequences in KRFT from where they currently live in ModStep. An import feature would be fantastic. (Export for completeness, but not as needed as the real magic of KRFT is in the performance and MIDI out could be recorded back into a new ModStep clip during that performance)
Love the app, and would love to be able to change the color of the cells or the channels. Great update!
This App is amazing and keeps getting better with every update. My wish list musically would be midi in so I could use a physical keyboard. The rest of my wishlist for the App would all involve improvement to allow more creativity on the visual side. Would be cool to able to put custom images on the controls and change the background to whatever you wanted. Having each type of controller a set shape does make it easier to keep things organized but I have found that if I set a surface in front of someone who has never used it they have to learn what all the buttons do through trial and error anyways so might as well blow the doors off the set shapes and allow us to draw our own shapes, assign what type of control it is, and then put a custom image in its surface. If you really wanted to get crazy you could make the objects solid and give them some real world physics...like one dials shape when turned could come in contact with another causing it to move or turn. I would love to see what kind of creations would come from something like that
this app is blowing my mind. 3 quick questions
1. how can i zoom out on the matrix view, in order to see and or edit more than 1 bar at a time ?
2. is there an undo button?
3. how can i zoom out on the main screen to see all cells at once?
4. thanks
There's no zooming (yet) for 1 and 3. Undo is available in the matrix view, bottom right in the tray (little curved arrow)

cool, thanks
Custom sizes would be the first step. Custom shapes/textures... Maybe one day!
Zoomishness always good.
Just bought Krft..let the music flow
Wow, fantastic goods coming from KRFT as usual... can't wait till BM3 gets more midi/au friendly and I can Borg the two.
@Alex fox great update. Still waiting on my midi cc per step though
@Alex fox i'm trying to use krft to play a piano in beathawk. Beathawk can recognize krft, but krt in not being recognized in krft. any idea of how to get these two apps to play together nicely?
Best way is to use AB3 or AUM. For some odd reason KRFT just doesn't see BH standalone.
Left a 5 star review
Thanks!!
Sorry not sure why this isn't working right now!
@Alex fox If I recall it was fixed in one of the betas but don't recall which one as I mostly use AB3 or AUM now.
I just tried it and KRFT doesn't see BH but BH's Midi input settings screen shows KRFT as active midi input. See screenshots;

BH's MIDI implementation is a little wacky. I've struggled with it in several contexts with other apps.
i fear AUX hosting. It seems others who have implemented AUs into an already established app have had to shift their focus from the goal of the app towards squashing all of the bugs created by adding such a big variable.

Anyone familiar w Yamaha Motif workstations here? I'm assuming you can perform the "transform/explode" functions w audio samples. So this is kike the "Loop/remix" function on the Motif?
I hope I don't misunderstand what you're asking but in KRFT the transform/explode thing is with midi notes not audio.
@yowza : Nah, you're not wrong.. I guess I'm gonna have to get into BM3 to be able to do that then.. Thanks ..
Not necessarily. If you already own Egoist, you can create a template cell sending midi to Egoist (which by default is already mapped to certain notes) and when you explode that cell, you'll have your exploded audio loop.
Other-wise, i suppose the BM3 route is more cost effecient cause it's $10 cheaper than egoist and a near complete solution. But if i understand correctly, BM3 still doesn't support MIDI in on multiple channels. Also, I just happen to already have egoist and other hosts.
[Edit-]To clarify the default note mappings i refer to are for the audio slices when in slice keyboard mode
This update is incredible... one can only imagine if we had midi import/record?
