  • Wow great ideas! Thanks so much!

This app is so good and gets me to start creating melodies in my head as soon as I fire up a groove.

I'm interested in learning how users are building their songs in the current state of the app. For me, I get to the point where I got a nice looping 16 bar loop then I wish I had a way of continuing the song flow, but I can't seem to grasp what to do next. I'm not an expert midi programming musician but just an electric guitar player, which is the main reason why this app appeals to me.

Any and all ideas appreciated. Mostly what I want to create are worship songs for our married couples ministry. Of course I can always use Chordbot, but this app feels more natural to me.

I do a mixture...live muting and playing is one method, if you are really brave you can use the dice to change pattern mid performance ;)

Exporting to Audioshare and then importing into blocs wave (you can then use the scenes in blocs wave to get your song architecture), I'll also incorporate blocs wave loops while doing this...and then also onto Launchpad from blocs.

I have also exported the stems and used cubasis to arrange them....scenes would be great, but until then you need to create a new project for each section of your song (if you are using all 8 tracks that is.)

I have also run it linked to blocs wave, having one section of the song in blocs and the other in Groovebox, load them both in AUM and you can use mutes in AUM to swap sections, you can also use launchpad in this as a third section, and still just use AUM to swap between them. (You can in fact use this method with any apps)

  • Awesome! Midi in on the horizon...midi out a little further!? Can't wait for these updates....but more importantly I can't wait to see what modules pop up next to the drums, bass and synth! I see blank space that needs filled...

  • Nice! I love Groovebox, but can't truly embrace the app until there's some sort of song mode implemented. As much as a love the Blocs/Groovebox/Launchpad synergy, I still like to lock myself in one app. Without the ability to chain different patterns, I hit my creative "ceiling" in Groovebox rather quickly. Still makes great loop fodder for Blocs, even better with a ducking feature. I'm hoping Groovebox can catch up to the flexibility of KRFT one day.

Yup. I know I'm on repeat, but to write songs with this I need to go from one section, pattern, whatever, to the next, playing them back and forth about, say, a thousand times, tweaking the melody etc all the while. Actually with most apps it's a thousand times, one of the things I love about Groovebox is I believe it might'n only take me a hundred if there were some sort of patt 1, patt 2 options...keeping the faith :)

Now imagine this for a second. Say you really dig the way the Bass, And Synth patterns playing sound but right when the loops ends you would like those two Bass and synth patterns to go from the current chord progression to something totally different all in realtime as you play the built in keyboard. Wouldn't that rock? I think this would be the ultimate for me cause it would make building the whole song in one pass possible. Then replay it and just add Melody. I wonder if this is not possible due to hardware limitations?

  • As I'm confident the developers know, Groovebox needs scenes, like Blocs Wave. And Midi out. ;)

I completely agree. I like the way they implemented pattern mode in blocs honestly.

I agree about Blocs, but then I still love DM1 as well, but however they do it, I'll be happy to see it/figure it out. Same with preset saving :)

Yep, it's a waiting game at present. No doubt the devs are working hard on the next big update, given how rapidly Blocs Wave advanced.

Me too, I only wish that there was an option to enable switching between scenes and swipe-muting to sync to the master clock. If that feature were added, I could play entire sets with Blocs alone.

I guess for now I'll have to stick to exporting to KRFT or Launchpad.

  • Could you enlighten us on how you use KRFT with the GB exports?

  • Blocs or Launchpad export will be useful without doubt.
