  • Bought it.

    First findings:
Appstore description does not say anything about IAA, so I tried a couple of hosts:
Instacrash in AUM, who categorises it a IAA generator. Edit: Work when pre launched.
    Not recognised by Cubasis.
Works in AB3, though it does not autostart.
Could definately have been better, but maybe its just me ...

  • Does it sound good? Worthy enough for $3.99?

  • Nice one. Bought it.
On the other hand, competitor Vatanator is now with AU as an IAP.
Wrong move, patterns and sounds yes, AU NO.

No problem in AUM for me. MV08 was open when input in AUM and everything working. Recording fine etc.

  • 808 clone with automation and link.

    • Deep step editing to create dynamic and evolving rhythms
    • Choose between 16 and 32 step resolution
    • Change the amount of steps for interesting time signatures

Can one of our brave early adopters tell me if you can set the number of steps per instrument? Or is it for the whole pattern? That is, can it do poly-metric patterns?

How does "Deep step editing" work? Samples sound good to me; depending on how the automation works (and how well LINK works) seems like this could be pretty great app for making Trap beats.

    Song mode or pattern chaining?

Confirmed. Working nicely when started before AUM.

  • It seems like there should be an almost preset criteria points list when a new drum machine app arrives:

Opinion-wise what's the specialty here?, Closest existing app?, Main reason(s) to add it to the existing lineup? and so on.

  • Pretty much an impulse buy for me. Love the 808 - owned the real thing back in the days. Can see some possibilities, but its early for detailed comparisons and final judgemant. It's only been out an hour or so. It has Ableton Link and it's only 4 bucks ...

  • I was just thinking I need yet another drum machine. This does look cool!

  • @DeVlaeminck
I'm assuming it has midi in (and out since it's a sequencer), yeah? Also, in IAA mode, does AUM see separate out channels (like in Patterning)?
    Oh my @ instacrash.

  • Anyone know if this has Midi out?

  • I thought it had two effects processors per drum- but it is only two send effect levels per voice- I have the feeling I was too quick out of the blocks here with my four quid :/

  • @ph8aerror
MIDI in yes. MIDI out no as far as I can see. Same goes for audio multi out.

Ah, that is a shame. Thanks for saving me four quid!

I don't like too much the overdrive and there is no compressor ,I think the sound is not clear (boom808 is excellent for that) but the automation is good we can change everything per step .It lacks perhaps a randomizer too like this boom808 than I like more and more everyday. But this is the first version, updates will probably improve it

I would do all of this in BM3 with AU parameter automation - in fact I just did using Ruismaker and it sounds awesome

  • @syrupcore From what I can see pattern step length is per pattern rather than per voice.

"Deep Step Editing" is what makes this app super cool: you can p-lock parameters per step. The parameters in question are the basic ones which keeps this app "true" to the 808 and also include the reverb and delay sends.

If one digs 808 essence this one's worth getting.

  • Thanks. @Proppa So you can p.lock pitch? Does it offer anything friendly like note names for pitch?

  • So many drum boxes, so little time. Revolutionary?

  • edited August 2017

Like the sounds. Going to need a video friend.

  • @syrupcore yes re: pitch p-lock and this is how it's displayed when pitching up + 3

  • @propps Sweet. Thanks so much for the screenshot! Hate to ask another question but I'm gonna: does +3 mean "+3 semitones from the base pitch" or is +3 some random amount on a -100/+100 scale?

  • @syrupcore I think these are semitones and each voice goes + / - 12 but I'm just tonedeaf enough to not know 100% if this conga is truly octaving up and down. (It'd be wacky if not so I'm going with semitones).

  • Bought it & instantly started to work. It sounds amazing & may become a go to app once i've tested it thouroughly. But this weekend is dedicated to BM3 3.0.1 so this one will have to wait.

  • Thanks @Proppa. If it goes to +/- 12, semitones seem a safe bet.

  • This plus Quantum and a decent multitimbral synth seems like it might be a Trap dream.

    Not sure what Quantum is?
