@JamesM Sounds good to me. Doing it the way you described would probably also make the mute/unmute of the tracks/sounds easier for all the brave souls out there that are using their iPads in live situations (at least in my head, but I'm not really doing live stuff like that tho so could be wrong). Yes, absolutely keep the more extreme distortion in there! I love it:-)
Nice update out just now!
Sample import?
No. I don’t think it’s planned for this product, which is meant more as a tribute to the 808 than a more full featured drum module. If I remember correctly from another thread.
Exactly.
https://forum.audiob.us/discussion/23450/mv08-update/p2
I had in mind that the dev is actually thinking about an update with sample import as maybe an iAP in future. May also come up in the linked thread
Exciting News !
Fingers crossed he will implement this. Would be cool since we are lacking drum apps in AU format
sample import would be over the top then
@wim (or anyone else) It's been mentioned that you can do "parameters lock". I've seen this referenced in threads, but I'm not clear on what it's for. The in-app manual doesn't mention it. What is it exactly?
The way I read it, In that thread linked to above, is that it would be an NAP (new app purchase), not an IAP, as the dev wants to leave MV08 as an 808 tribute. I’m enjoying MV08, and MV-Sampler would be an instabuy for me.
Oh, unread it wrong then. Though would be cool indeed!! Thanks for pointing it out
The hi hat choke doesn’t work for me. Am I the only one?
Glad to see this one get updated with AUv3 - as much as I love the AU instruments in AUM or wherever, the release of the (excellent) Rozeta bundle made me realize that there aren't lot of drum machines yet that can be sequenced an programmed just using the AU pop-up controls. A lot of them are more like sound modules that need to be sequenced with a physical controller, another app, or an AU MIDI app.
Will have to check it out.
Yes hoping this changes is 2018. DRUM AU with cool built in-sequencers. Hopefully someone catches the vision.
The AUv3 doesn't have the sequencer. It's basically just an 808 drum module.
It means that you can set a parameter, such as pitch, on a step by step basis. So, for instance, you can use the bass drum as a bass line if you want to, or play melodies with toms, etc.
It's the best part of the app, which is completely lost as an AU, although it is a very good 808 emulation.
It works in the Standalone/IAA app but not in the AUv3.
@JSMilton, any chance of getting this implemented in the AUv3? It's kind of important to have.
Is that the same as what's referred to as "automation" within this app? ie. long press to set a parameter for a given step?
Also, there's a randomization button that I thought would randomize the parameters for a given step, random each time the step is hit, but all it seems to do is just randomly change a selected parameter setting, and randomly apply to random steps for whichever track you've selected. After you hit play, everything stays put and no random changes taking place.
This isn't a complaint or critique... just trying to understand what's going on. I'd assumed that the randomization button would be randomly/dynamically changing the selected parameter settings for whichever step I activated it on, but it looks like this is not how it works.
thx!
Yes.
It seems to be a one-time randomization of whatever parameter is selected when it is hit. Not a toggle for randomization on playback. The help text is misleading or simply unclear IMO.
At first I thought that the randomization button ONLY randomized the parameters for the step I was editing, but I noticed that if you look at the little step timeline above, let's say some of the steps are red and some yellow... each time you hit the randomization it changes which steps are red/yellow, implying that those randomization hits are also being applied to all of the steps.
Thanks! Just wanted to confirm it wasn't supposed to do something else while playing.
this is great news if he's planning to do a completely new drumsampler with parameter locks, especially because if it's an entirely different app then we can gauge the right expectations for the feature set. How soon did he say that this might happen?
Woah, hold yer horses there pardner. There is nothing other than:
In that thread.
I'd love to see an MV09(909 tribute). But the MV08 is a very nice 808 app.
Dev did say this:
If I'm honest, there's no plan for more extensive features like song mode, pattern chaining and projects. A new app with the same engine would definitely have it all in though. Maybe call it MV-Sampler or something
And based on those two thoughts people are getting amped like there's an official release announcement? Talk about setting oneself up for disappointment...
guess I went off on a whim ... wim
par for the course.
on a broader note, do you guys notice after all of these years... no iOS parameter lock heavies out there, no ableton live like for iOS yet, no Monome like for iOS yet and....... iOS is barely getting it's mpc on..... conspiracy?..... I think so , add to that that playground has been out forever and still doesn't have sample import and that the most coveted iOS app Samplr has not been updated and .....
Hey Guys,
That's definitely a bug! I'll get a fix out within the next week for that.
Besides, FunkBox > @JSMilton said:
Cool. This is really a great app.
Hopefully, it'll have a switch like in the standalone version?
