Entirely Korg Mono/Poly DnB track - MF2K
Hello.
I made a track with 12 different instances of Montpellier (Mono/Poly) in Korg Gadget. Plus a London drum kit.
Tiny bit of EQing and limiting of the master afterwards with 'Remaster' and amazing noises 'Limiter', but other than that everything you hear is Gadget.
Please let me know how you think Mono/Poly sounds - I think this is good test of how versatile it is. Every synth sound you hear is Mono/Poly.

Love it. Wow. Great track! Reminds me of some nice LTJ Bukem and Good Looking Records tracks.
Nice work and thanks for the inspiration.
Nice work matt !
Teach me!
Awesome.
Great work. Thanks for sharing.
Excellent
That was a joy
@echoopera @vpich @Redo1 @yaknepper @Thomas @brice @thesoundtestroom
Thanks so much for listening and your positive words!
I should probably add that I deliberately made use of quite a lot of the factory presets in this track (tweaked a bit) such as:
Vibrant
Cave echos
Ethereal
Horrify
Pwm pad
Spineck
I usually make my own sounds and dislike the Gadget factory sounds, but here I deliberately wanted to kind of demo Mono/Poly (which has some really good factory presets I think) and also get the track made and released more quickly.
I'm really impressed with how good Mono/Poly sounds. Really 'lush' but also great for effects and crazy basses.
Great track Matt ...
Thank you. Bukem is the absolute master IMO (I saw him with Conrad at an Arches all nighter in Sheffield in about 1994 and was blown away. After he'd finished he just came and sat with everyone else in the chill out room and was really nice.). I definitely have his style in mind whenever I make any DnB and if there are any echos at all, that's a huge compliment!
Good demonstration of iM/P and your skills on Gadget.
You made it on a iPhone, right?
Yep 100% iPhone 6sPlus
Used Klimper to come up with the basic chord progression and than copied that into Gadget. Then went from there entirely in Gadget.
I was really impressed that Gadget didn't glitch with all those 12 instances of Montpellier. It's much more processor friendly than Lexington or Model15.
Did you try the chord memory in iM/P?
Hold any key combo in poly mode and press the 'chord' button.
Nope.
Does that apply to Montpellier or just the standalone?
Impressive stuff Matt, enjoyed it! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks. Glad you enjoyed it.
Works in Montpellier too.
Probably a good sign if it can impress someone who isn't really a fan of the genre, i.e. me. Nice one!
Cool. Thanks. I'll have to try that.
I like Klimper because it lets you quickly try out different and more unusual chord progressions and easily save them into a sequence.
I had a very basic 4 bar drum loop playing in Gadget in the background and then just messed around with different chords in Klimper with the piano sound. (I felt like a real composer
). I'm definitely going to use that approach again.
Thanks man. You'd maybe like the jazzier, more 'liquid' style of the genre.
Indeed, less harsh than the DnB I remember my best mate subjecting me to in his car. Probably scarred me for life.
I shall investigate similar.
Here's an oldie but a goodie:
Amazing job @Matt_Fletcher_2000
I wish I could make DnB like you! Definitely reminded me of Bukem too. Especially this one, one of my faves from way back when:
I was in a club in Torquay, must be 23 years ago. We'd heard he was going to be there, and I was pretty excited being a bedroom DJ myself. I remember he just turned up, did his thing for an hour or so and spent the rest of the night mixing with the crowd. Such a cool guy.
Great stuff as usual. This one goes to top of my list as soon as I get a new iPad that can handle it!

Thanks... very kind.
I remember that one too. Really good. Loving the rainforest sounds.
Did you ever go to his night Speed in London? Or the Blue Note? I went a few times and it was always good.
Also amazing (on his label):
I saw PFM the same night as Bukem in Sheffield and they were brilliant too.
Very nice as always Matt, you are without doubt the forum Gadget guru.
Thanks.
Really, I don't think you'll find it too processor heavy on whatever you are using now. It's amazingly well optimised I think (unlike Lexington which is a massive processor hog!)
Well done!
At one point I got the feeling that I was listening to an unreleased Squarepusher track
Thanks @MonzoPro - most kind.
If you ever get more into Gadget I'd highly recommend it.
