Very nice as always Matt, you are without doubt the forum Gadget guru.

    Thanks @MonzoPro - most kind.

If you ever get more into Gadget I'd highly recommend it.

I've had it for a few years now, but despite having fun with it jamming, have never finished a track. Ive always struggled with the sequencer in Gadget, so audio recording apps suit me better - Auria, AUM etc. No problems on the desktop though, which I find easier for MIDI editing, so I'm currently finishing tracks in Maschine.

Hats off to you though, you've nailed it. Only surprised you're not putting stuff out on a label!

Probably a good sign if it can impress someone who isn't really a fan of the genre, i.e. me. Nice one!

Thanks man. You'd maybe like the jazzier, more 'liquid' style of the genre.

Indeed, less harsh than the DnB I remember my best mate subjecting me to in his car. Probably scarred me for life. ;)

    I shall investigate similar.

Here's an oldie but a goodie:

Nice, great vid too. Opening my ears and ears here. B)

If an IPad plus Maschine works for you - go for it.

Gadget's not for everyone. And it's not ideal. Needs much better handling of audio, a decent built in sampler, a linear timeline mode would please a lot of people... etc etc.

But I only really now have time for iPhone composing in small pockets of stollen time - and it's the only thing out there that really lets me do that.

Plus... the limitations force you to get on and be creative around the limitations.

I was really strict with getting this track made quickly:

Basic drums > chord progression > baseline > noodling melodies with different lead sounds > arrangement > extra baselines, transitions, sounds > tweaking arrangement and EQing > mastering.
