  • Is a pretty amazing upgrade.

  • yes .. there is even a midi out preset for garageband.. super duper!!

  • Great update. Pity they've gone for the rubbish that is iTunes. But there's a way around this. The app MusicStreamer (Stratospherix) is AB compatible, and can link to NAS drives, PC's, Mac's, etc. So if you have that you can stream anything you have in your collection, while using GeoShred on another lane in AB.

MusicStreamer, is also the best app I've used for streaming music on IOS.

Works great doing this complex circuit, allowing us to listen to music from a NAS drive located in my home office, while in our lounge.

    IPad to WAP box
WAP Box into Devolo Home Plug
Devolo Home Plug through house wiring to Router
    Router to NAS drive
NAS drive reverses above into Denon AV
    Denon AV to KEF speakers

So that is seven different manufacturers hardware, controlled via iPad AirPlay, and occasional glitches aside, working like a dream.

Given the complexity the occasional glitch is to be expected!

I have all my music on an external USB drive, must get that into the setup at some point. MusicStreamer looks worth a look, I've tried others with patchy results.

You can get MusicStreamer Lite for free. It's limited to a couple of hundred tracks, but more than good enough to see if it works with your setup.

The full version is not limited. I have it pointed at close to 50,000 tracks. If you add new stuff you have to rescan for the app to find it, of course, but you can even play and search your collection while this is on-going.

Thanks, just tried it, took all of 10 minutes to get it working, seems solid, bought it.

Great. Hope you have as much fun with it as we do!

  • Not mentioning the fact that it already has MPE for ages.

    This app is amazing.

I don't like the interface very much but everything is so amazing that it becomes irrelevant.

Yeh, back on topic GeoShred has depth for days.

I don't like the bling aspects of the UI but it does stuff others can't/won't.

  • that's pretty sweet. are they having a sale to promote it?

  • It's an ugly motherfucker, but one of the best iOS instruments in its own right, and one of my favourite apps.

Not massively impressed with the sound of the new presets, but any updates are always welcome.

  • Ah, personal taste. I love the interface. It's playability is what sets the app apart, IMNSHO. I don't mind the visuals. If moog would just update their apps so their keyboard could go full screen with multiple rows, with perhaps a row of controls, it would give geoshred a run.

agreed - interface isn't too bad I think. I love Geoshred - for both it's sounds and playability. I have to restrain myself from using it on every track I make.

The Wizdom design aesthetic is a strange beast.

It's like a 14-year old's imagination fused with the skills of amazing developers.

I actually like the change of pace.

    Amusingly, it's sort of the anti-Linnstrument design-wise.

I appreciate the visual feedback of the graphics.

Also, I can see how some people could find clunking through the menus a pain. But once you understand them, most things are only a tap or two away.

I had Samplewiz somewhere, but I had to remove it, as the animated wizard under the keyboard was giving me anxiety nightmares.

I think this one would benefit from a more professional looking UI too, and the menu-system is clunky. Saying that I can put up with it for the sheer playability of the thing. I would put this at the very top of the list of music apps I like to muck about with, despite the tiny-tots UI.

I too ditched SampleWiz for similar reasons. GeoShred stays on my iPad because it makes more sense to me - how to use it as someone who can't play a guitar - and because it can produce some great sounds. But, the design could be less flashy, and easier on the eye.

Guitar is my first instrument, but I can't play real solo's as quick as on Geoshred, so I use it for cheating.

  • Can anyone tell me the maximum number of rows/strings that the control surface allows?

  • awesome dev, has anybody asked them to offer skins, they'd probably sell twice the amount for that alone

I have the opposite problem. Playing quick is easy, but it took me forty years to learn how to play guitar slow and make it sound good.

  • I didn't know you could do this either.

Been in the app for a while.

  • I hope it gets support to act as a AB midi sender.

  • Has anyone figured out how to program the drone arpeggios like they have in the Pelog patches?

Also, it's fantastic that they have all these great new features for Indian music, but why don't any of the sample patches have a proper tanpura drone arpeggio in them? That way I could at least modify an existing preset. One of new drone patches -- the one for that Carnatic scale -- even has the drone in the wrong key.

  • where do you assign 3d touch to midi cc parameters?

It's like certain things that are hard to play on guitar are really easy, but typical guitar-like riffs are actually harder. Took me a fair amount of practice trying to play Voodoo Child or Purple Haze. Such riffs don't come naturally on GeoShred.

  • This is indeed a killer update! In addition to all the new Asian stuff, it fixes issues I was having with feedback, and incorporates the enhanced plan muting I was hoping for -- before I even had a chance to request it! This may be one of the greatest instrument apps ever! Just brilliant! Thanks so much, Moforte/Wizdom!

  • Same here! Thanks @moForte !
