@skiphunt just released a new update - it fixes compatibility with some AU hosts and fixes one possible crash
please report how does that work in your setup

Update appears to be working well in Auria Pro, BM3, AUM, and Modstep now. :)

  • This app gets talked about way too little

  • does this app have link?

  • edited October 2017

also what are the import options and does it have panning?

  • @skiphunt great!
@kobamoto yet no for both, sorry. Now working on big update to include more algorithms and panning as well. The import option is requested very often and i expect to add it sometime but as i've considered that a live-performance thing i didn't include it at the beginning. For now it's possible to use external sample playback app and connect via IAA/AB/AU

  • ok thank you.

  • Working in AUM now. Awesome!

  • @njazzz hi, i tried briefly before going to work and it seem to work. had fast play with in aum. thank u!

  • Hello!

just wanted to announce that v1.2 is available

    here is the changelog:

    • Three new lane types!

      • FFT Looper — works the same way as Looper lane but uses FFT algorithm for playback allowing constant pitch for any playback speed and the same FFT effects (gate and phase randomisation)
      • Granular Stream — the same granular-freeze engine with all parameter randomisation and special UI control
      • Speed lane — vertical touch position controls playback speed, horizontal position can be assigned to any parameter
    • Five effects:

      • Frequency shifter
      • Ring modulation
      • Sample-and-hold (" lo-fi")
      • HP/LP filter
      • Reverb
The amount of effect can be set for each sound individually or for all sounds produced by one lane
    • Limiter added on master output

    • Enhanced looper control: new "size&volume" lane mode. drag to select the time for the new loop and release touch to create it. Vertical position controls the volume of the loop that will be created. You can create muted loop by dragging at the bottom of the lane.
    • B buffer when in "record output" now doesn't record self
    • When you change lane type it sets up with default x/y controls and sliders
    • "reset slider values" button added to lane type selector
    • several fixes for the sound quality in granular nodes
    • Bug fixes and UI improvements

    please report bugs and suggestions!

    Thanks!

  • Thanks for the update. I get no sound using the FFT Looper. Regular Looper works fine.

can you try to reset the lane parameters or move the "spectral gate" value?
i've encountered that issue once but later couldn't reproduce it.

  • Fresh to this app. Welcome any as-of-this-moment 'quick he's on the fence' input from early adopters....

@njazzz having the same issue with FFT Looper. Not consistent either. At first it worked fine. Second attempt, nothing. Relaunch, worked but volume of SoundFruuze way too low, even though it's volume was all the way up. Another attempt, lost all audio and had to restart AUM to get it back. Adjusting Spectral gate did not help. Other lane types seem to work fine. Only issues with the FFT looper. I'm using iOS11.1 Latest AUM on 10.5 Pro.

@JohnnyGoodyear It's pretty unique and cool. Vaguely similar to Sliver, but AUv3 and many more ways to loop, mangle, twist, etc. This is coming from a perspective of playing/mangling sound.. and interesting multiple control of samples. It's a little fiddly until you figure out what to touch to resize loop areas and move them around, but once you figure that out, it's unique and fun.

    I like it. :)

EDIT: Just checked current price. I bought it at launch for $4.99. Looks like price increased two weeks ago. Current price is $6.99. Knowing what I know now, how unique it is... and how this developer is remaining committed to updates and maintenance, I'd buy it at the current price and not feel I paid too much.

  • @skiphunt Thank you Skip. Fair and useful analysis.

Have you bought it Boss? I wouldn't have thought this was your thing - it's more my pot of farmyard stew. Looking forward to hearing your new avant-noise output though.

I haven't bought this one as I'm saving my pennies, but it's certainly on The List.

No didn't. And am putting it on hold. Was almost at the button, but then thought of all the idensity/borderlands/x5 I have kicking around and certainly appreciate as regards pieces of software and but rarely/never actually use. Simply because while I like sound design it isn't something I have need/purpose/use for in anything I do (as it turns out). I hope this changes, but when it does I have a number of extant things to investigate/learn.

Nothing wrong with it, but I realize I've bought a lot of stuff for its elegance or ambition rather than my actual employment of the same.

  • @skiphunt thanks.
There are stiil a couple possible fixes for this issue. 1 - There is new "reset" button that sets all the slider values to the defaults. 2 - Actually, the app stores it's state when you close it and restores back. If it has some older values, that may be the problem. You can reset the currently selected "machine state" by tapping-holding "layouts>>" button in lower left corner and then [reset]

Anyway, i'll check that out and try to fix it in the next update. Thanks.

  • I'll jump in when it has audio file import. ;)
I like to collect performances performed on different apps - & then be able to import them and experiment.

  • I’m gonna get this soon. I’m all about the sample mangling as an alternative to getting an octatrack.

  • @StudioES thanks for the interest. No, unfortunately there is no preset saving there yet. Though the next update i'm working on sends/receives MIDI and OSC and will include preset saving as well.

  • Hello everybody,

It's been a while. Version 1.3 Beta is ready and (hopefully) will be soon available as an update.
It includes OSC support (sends and receives all parameters), MIDI support (sliders can be controlled with CC messages) and AU automation support (all parameters).
Please let me know (PM) if you would be interested in beta testing

    Regards,
    Alex

Thank you for the wonderful app. I would love to test for you, sent you a PM.

  • Hello again!
soundfruuze version 1.3 is now live in App Store!

the engine was completely rewritten to support the parameter automation:

    • OSC. Send and receive all control values and touch actions.
    • AudioUnit automation. Store presets. Send and receive all control values and touch actions.
    • MIDI. Control sliders with midi data.
Have fun! And please report all bugs and compatibility issues here (PM me here or message the app facebook page)

Tested with AUM, BeatMaker3, Cubasis (though there may be an issue - please report if you have any)

The OSC messages and default MIDI mapping is in the attached file

  • Big update! Can't wait to try it out. Thx.
